I have several of these pens and they are amazing writers and look awesome. The finish does scratch over time and the rubber were the clip sits wares over time. I used them as daily writers for many years and they have always written first time every time.Cheers Chris
Fountain pens are the only machines that I can honestly say that I understand and so I enjoy them tremendously. The Chinese trio of ink, paper, brush as the tripod on which civilization rests translates exactly.
I'm putting together my footage for a review on this right now. (To be published Wednesday.) I had forgotten you had two videos on this pen. I guess I'll have to add this link and footnote. Funny thing, I found a Kmart page published in October of 2017 for this pen. I'll probably link to my archived copy since I'm not confident about Kmart's future.
Pens need regular cleaning. Soak the nib in water with a few drops of detergent. Use the converter to fill & empty with the solution till clear. May take some time. These pens are well made & show return to working order.
I have had this pen for about 16 years. I like it when I first refill it but like you say after a while they don't work. My pen is clean. I have the pen wash from Goulet, I have the bulb syringe to put clean water and pen wash through the feed and nib. But in all these years this pen will not stay writing for me. I have tried different inks too. I have over 50 inks in different brands. I love the look of the pen but it isn't as good as my TWSBI pens which I have 7, or my vintage Sheaffer pens.
I have not used my Cores for a long continuous time. I have had success opening up feed channels on some pens, maybe that would help. I plan to do a video on that technique soon. Vintage Sheaffers, I have recently got back into Balance's. Will be posting a video on that style soon. Have you seen my recent Sheaffer restorations videos?
Ignoring the colors which doesn't affect how they work, how do they write what's the difference in each model and how do you keep them running. I have a couple but once they sit too long I can't keep them writing.
I do not have any inked up at this time. When I used a few i found them to be OK, no drying out issues. All models write the same just different looks.
I bought one of these fountain pens some years back and was very disappointed in its performance. The ink flow is in fits and starts which is exceptionally annoying. I have tried washing it out several times with water and ink solvent, I tried Rotring ink. Lamy ink and Pelikan ink all to no avail. Bad design fault?
I have that orange one, exact same. I have had it for years. I hate it. The designer is the same guy who designed those absurd school graduation caps. Weird.

I had same issues with Pelikan GO. These pens are made for a look not for lasting.
Thank you, Chris.Wild pens. The fat feeds and transition from section to nib are very interesting.
Thanks for watching. I appreciate your comments. Pens amaze me. Glad i can share this with you.

Interesting. I've never seen one of these before. I'm not convinced it's my style but it's cool to see what's out there.

You saying Kmart is selling this pen? It has been out of production for a long while. I did a search, looks like a stale web page.
The October 2017 date surprise me, though!
It's Kmart!
I have the grey and orange pen and love it. I use it everyday. Thank you for the review.
These are unique pens that can be daily writers.
When i saw the thumbnail i thought the pens were screwdrivers
Sorry you were disappointed.
I wasn't disappointed, just shocked that they were actually fountain pens, since i collect some fountain pens from time to time
Hi Chris. Do you happen to know if the cap from a Rotring Core ballpoint would fit the Rotring Core fountain pen? Thanks in anticipation.
I have some Core ballpoints & pencils, they do not have caps. Standard push button at top of pen.
I have a couple of the fountain pens but they just don't work after a while. I do love the designs...wish they would work...

Ok will try, thanks!

No... I hAve kinda given up on using these pens.. love the design but they just won't write...

@@chrisrap52 Thank you. I pulled mine out of my desk, charged it and left it standing up with the point down. This one is working again. Go figure.
Great video. I love Rotring but these pens are... Hideous to say the least.

Not in my experience. Maybe nib has baby's bottom or tines too tight.
What is the cost of the ball pen?
Ballpoint out of production. I buy on eBay, costs run around $15 to 30 USD.

It is not an easy pen to like. But it is a unique pen that pushes the design limits. And it write well.
roe-tring
Correct
It's German "rot ring" and means "red ring".
Very interesting but appalling from design point of view in my humble opinion.
From my engineering sci-fi perspective I find this pen to be very interesting. The design works, may not be for everyone, it is polarizing.
