This video helped a lot. Thank you. Can you help me with this question please? I am registered as a rights owner (record label) and an artist (part of a band with 2 other members). Here’s the scenario: As the record label (rights owner) and I own the master by myself, do I put in 100%? Even if the other members of the band will go in and claim their portion of the split as an artist? (They don’t own the master - they wrote and performed on it). If I, as the Rights owner of the master claim 100%, but I’m also an artist on the track and co-wrote on it, do I go back in and claim my portion of the split as an artist claim? In other words, I am the label/rights owner. I claim 100% as a RO. Then I also need to go and register my split portion as an artist claim as well (let’s say 34%). Then the other 2 band members will make their own artist claim of their 33% ? Thank you.
The band members would need to register separately and file a LOD (letter of direction) since they're a non-featured artist. Similar to a being a producer on the song. Only the featured artist would receive the $
yoo , I just submitted my recordings and tried the search and claim but didn't see the songs.....Does it suppose to show immediately or does it take time for it to process? thx in advance
Great help on clarifying what SoundExchange should be doing themselves.. 🤨 On those boxes where a red X shows,Countries of First Release / Territories Of Collection Rights.., this makes the status "Invalid" for me. So I ended up having to just leave the box clear. Hopefully it will allow to make an edit later, because that is leaving a lot of money on the table. And.. For "Release Label", Are you saying that it's OK to put your name instead of Distrokid or Tunecore..? I think I saw somewhere in their many sections of entry that the label gets 50% ? Even if that's true, Distrokid , Tunecore.. would forward the 50% to me anyway, knowing full well that it is not theirs to keep. - Thanks again!
I’ve been registering all of my music under my personal information. When I make my LLC this year, would I have to take down and re-register everything under the LLC? Like for tax benefit reasons? Or can I continue to keep everything under my personal info and simply funnel those royalties into the LLC’s business bank account?
You can change the registrations on your account after you have your LLC. Just makes it easier for tax time in case you earn any royalties on the platform.
If you are the sole owner, then yes it would be 100%. This pertains to artists who split a % of their royalties with another master owner (ex. producer, featured artist, etc.)

Usually takes a few weeks. If it's been a month or so, I would try contacting support

Should be able to enter in all the info without the songs being invalid. Release label is your own label and not the distributor you choose.
@@musicbyazuma Thanks I figured it out. The red X just threw me
For some reason under my catalogue submit recordings isn’t listed for me
It should be highlighted in red when you're editing your entry. You can always try to save, exit, and reopen the song to see if it updates.
@ I’ve done all that and I still don’t see it at all. It’s like it’s not there at all.

To ensure your check/1099 says your LLC name rather than your personal name
@@musicbyazuma awesome thank you so much man! 🙏🏼
Pls make a video on how to register as a songwriter in KOMCA
Please tell me if I can register with Sound Exchange if I already use BMI and Songtrust?
Yes you can. SoundExchange collects a different royalty
@@musicbyazuma Big Thanks!!!
Percentage claimed isnt very clear to me, if i own the masterright should i claimed 100% ?

so i use distribution Landr , can you tell me please do i need register my music soundexchange too ?
Yes. Soundexchange pays a different royalty that LANDR does not collect.
Why your SoundExchange account says registrant music by Azuma llc and rights owner your name Michael Azuma? Thank You.
Label vs. rights owner
You own the rights to your master recording in your birth name?
Do you feel this service is an absolute priority?
100%. It's free to sign up so might as well
as a producer when i sign up for soundexchange i register as a rights owner rite ?
Yes right's owner.
