    Why did they add 2x4 above the strut?? Strut is more than enough! Your installation was excellent!

    What can one do if those wires aint on the sides for the sensors and the ones on top for the opener?

    I appreciate all your videos man!! Keep up the good work! I’m an experienced automatic sliding and swinging door technician but I’m looking to start my own company and figured garage doors would be a good sag way but not sure what to stock my truck with. Would you consider doing a beginners truck stock video? I’d be focusing on repairs. Your videos have helped a ton already! Any information would be very much appreciated!

    You're awesome. I have a same garage opener, however, I can't find the battery anywhere? It needed to be change now. It's acting up last night and I couldn't find the darn battery anywhere so I can take it off from the motor. Thanks

      @@johnnypham3410 if the motor does have a battery backup it should be easy to find. you should see a door with one screw your news to take off. If you don’t see that anywhere then your opener doesn’t have a battery.

      @dapperdudesgarage I literally couldn't find the battery last night. I opened the front and the back door of the garage opener but couldn't find it anywhere. But my phone app showed a red battery with the word disconnected... I was like, wth... I can't use my app to open and close the garage door.

    Quick questions probably many of us have. After installing a new motor, springs, rollers, etc. what should I do on a yearly basis? Lube? Adjustment? Or just leave everything alone?

    • @dapperdudesgarage
      @dapperdudesgarage  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      no definitely lube at minimum every 6 months or so. It really depends on location as well. If your around a lot of humidity or moisture. If you get a lot of rain outside etc. A good rule of thumb is to note if the current spring you have is rusty or not, if it is you get more moisture than normal do definitely do the lube etc every few months just to help keep the rust down because rust makes a spring pop and rub etc.

    Excellent Video! My question is When replacing the sensors is it neccesary to go thru the relearning process with the motor smart button? I replaced my sensore but my door still will not go down without returning back up.

    • @dapperdudesgarage
      @dapperdudesgarage  ปีที่แล้ว

      No sir you do nit have to pair the sensors with the opener at all. Its all just electrical. If the door is still acting up its because something is wrong somewhere. Wires crossed, touching and grounding out, or possibly stapled to hard and cutting the circuit

    • @dapperdudesgarage
      @dapperdudesgarage  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just do a quick sensor test to be sure its your sensors. Go to your wall button and press the button once, if the door starts down and comes back up immediately, next, press and hold the button and see if it will override the error and shut the door. If so, you know it is the sensors for sure or the wiring to them etc

    • @horacelee880
      @horacelee880 ปีที่แล้ว

      It must be the sensors then because I did the override test & the door went down! I`m replacing the sensors & wires. Thanks for your response sir.👍@@dapperdudesgarage

    Another very informative video. Do you have an opinion on multi piece vs solid rails?

    • @dapperdudesgarage
      @dapperdudesgarage  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      well, I guess if I’m being honest, I’ll state the obvious solid rails are good because there’s no potential spots for hangup, but even more than that as far as assembly solid rails are faster to install because all you do is shoot them to the head unit the multi piece rails, you have to assemble each piece together and while generally they don’t pose a problem for the trolleys traveling along them I have actually had jobs where the trolley box was catching on those little grooves so yeah, if I had my choice I would rather deal with the solid rails

    When you were mounting the first bracket for the motor head did you call that a mag nut? Looking for it online, can't find it. Thank you

    • @dapperdudesgarage
      @dapperdudesgarage  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, they are called “LAG BOLTS” just long thick stud screws basically

    • @dapperdudesgarage
      @dapperdudesgarage  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the ones you shoot into the ceiling should be 3-4 inches in length minimum

    Do you have any advice on how to become a certified tech?

    • @dapperdudesgarage
      @dapperdudesgarage  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, certification is a state to state requirement. Here in Texas, when I first got started it was a requirement to get a license and everything, pass a background etc. Now, it's not. So, I would say apply at your local garage door companies. Get your foot in the door and they will license and train you if required. But this is one amazing industry that is a guaranteed revolving door. Doors will always wear and break down.
