I met Prof Doyoyo at Wits Winter school in 1986 when we were still in high school and was fascinated by both his humbleness and brilliance at Maths and Science. I remember an incident in class when he challenged one Professor during a science class, and it took a while for that Professor to accept that his understanding of the concept of velocity was wrong. We were mates at the Winter school and set together for the duration, both in 1986 and 1987 but lost contact over the years. But i always knew that he was a special human being and am not surprised by his achievements. Unfortunately South Africa does not recognize brilliance amongst its own citizen and hence he is not appreciated as much as he is internationally.

Give him opportunity to train the young people. South Africa can grow a lot faster if these kind of people are allowed the space.

Great work Prof would like to meet you as I have been looking forward to using the fly ash for bricks, cement, fertilizer but the fear of the unknown has been there. I know I am even in a better space with land. You are a real inspiration. ❤❤
