Not everyone likes Helen Zille but she is correct in saying that people need to be clear about their mandate at the ballot box. This "mayor" is seemingly fully satisfied with his poor performance? Does he comprehend that he is ruining the town due to his inability to properly manage and maintain it? He is only there for the benefit of himself and his cronies. Everything else is just an inconvenience. They blew a BILLION rand last year, that money went somewhere..
Get an Attorney to represent the town's residents and get them to pay their rates into an account in the best interest of the town. Boycott the municipality and it goes to court, the residents can fight for the right to appoint the private sector to step in and fix the town.
Correct. How can we allow a shack dweller from Gauteng, carried by bus to one of the most pristine natural areas of our country on the empty promises of housing etc. but with the alterior motive of tipping the political support, have a say over what happens to the natural biome and previously well maintained areas, by marking and X on a paper after being told to vote ANC and then given a kg of beef? There's no comprehension of the delicacy of the area, and the consequences for ruining it.

If an international tourist destination looks like this, there's no chance for smaller municipalities.... Every single election there are reports of boxes of excess ballots dumped outside a town next to the road. Why? because it was rigged and they had too many fake votes, so to balance the numbers they need to get rid of the excess.
Knysna becoming a swamp, truly an atrocity. Visiting in 2023 was far from a pleasant experience, potholes and roads filled with "water", extreme poverty and inequality. I pity the Knysna communities as their municipal structure continues to crumble destroying with it the natural beauty and biodiversity.

As John Meterlekamp said , "doesn't matter who rules the Council, their focus has not been on keeping up with the growing demand of the population and the strain it has put on the old limited infrastructure". Sadly, the ANC doesn't carry the responsibility alone for this mess this time around.
Politicians should not run municipalities they are not capable of this complex infrastructure. They should be run by experts with inputs from political representatives about their concerns
And to whom will those experts be accountable if they are merely taking input from elected representatives? It's all fun and games until you can't get rid of the bad ones.
@@francois853seems they can't get rid of them anyway. All we ever heard from our DA councillors is they can't get us answers when we have no power, water , leaking sewage in ekuhurleni because the city employees won't answer them. And also that there is no way to get the department heads fired.

How can anyone still trust the ANC ??? ridiculous. And where in national government to step in and fire the useless Councilors and senior staff and especially the mayor!!
I used to think I would retire in Knysna but not anymore. Regarding sewage processing.... we need to stop using flushing toilets and sending our waste to central sewage processing plants. When you mix faeces with liquid you end up with a massive problem. We can process our waste at our own homes with little to no fuss. Every house needs to start using dry composting systems.
@@susanlarhubarbe9475 not a problem. Each site will have its unique features and will need careful consideration and retrofitting but it can be done. All it takes is a conscious decision to make the shift and then a collective effort to make the adjustments. We have the sanitation and microbial technology and knowledge now to be able to do the processing at source
