Weekend: Aston Martin Vantage (2019 and after) - £115000 Track / Car meet / Project car: Mazda RX-7 FD - £35500 Daily / Family: Mercedes-Benz EQC Class - £44400 Total - around £195000 The Vantage is one of my dream cars, so is the FD, from there I went for the best electric Mercedes I could find for what was left of the budget. The remaining £5000 would disappear very quickly with an FD xD To be honest it's fairly comforting that my dream garage is doable with 200 grand. It would also be quite versatile, I'd have a twin turbo V8, a single turbo rotary, and an EV.

If it was me, my 3 car garage for £200,000 would consist of a 1st gen Lamborghini Gallardo Coupe for around £65,000, a Ford Escort RS Cosworth for around £55,000 and a 2011 Bentley Mulsanne for around £75,000. A car for speed, a car for fun and a car for luxury.
Ooh similar to what I’d pick. If I had £200k (€225k where I live) to spend on a car collection, it would probably have a family car for practical use, a commuter car and a toy vehicle for occasional use. For the family car, ideally an suv which probably would be either a Range rover, Mercedes GLE, Maserati Levante either petrol or diesel. For a commuter car I’d go with an EV because they are cheap to run, maintain and more reliable due to less moving parts. I’d either have a Tesla model S, Porsche Taycan 4S Cross turismo or Mercedes EQS450+. My third car for occasional use would either a Ferrari from the 80s, Bentley Continental GTC W12, or Aston Martin Vanquish V12. My issue is that in Ireland, we pay extortionate taxes on cars hence why they’re more expensive than cars in UK or Europe. We pay 23% VAT on cars and then something called VRT (Vehicle Registration Tax) which is measured of the vehicle price, emissions and NOx for diesels on brand new cars. You then have to pay annual road tax which starts at €120 for EVs, €180 for PHEVs, and then sports cars like the ones I’ve mentioned are like €2000+ in annual tax.

But, if I had to pick a daily, I’d likely go for the Cossie, theory being that the quality of a Cosworth unit would be able to handle it better than the other two and I also suspect it’d get much better mpg.

It’s a shame about the Irish tax regulations though, as someone who has a fair number of relatives and spends decent time in the emerald isle I’m unfortunately quite familiar with it. I think I once worked out that if you made €1,000,000 in Ireland you’d only be left with around €450,000 after all the ludicrous taxes.
@@Codatronic there’s a way around it and that’s to buy PHEVs where possible because you get a reduced rate of VRT and because of the low Co2 emissions on paper, you are within the lower tax bands. For example the Range Rover P400e hybrid is only €180 a year to tax whereas the regular diesel version is €400. Plus if you can declare it as business purchase, you get the VAT refunded. Same applies to the Porsche Cayenne. The V8 E-hybrid also is eligible for the discounted rate of tax and VRT. So for super cars, a way around it would realistically be either a Taycan Turbo S or a Hybrid Ferrari SF90 or 256 GTB.

1. BMW M5CS That's it. Don't need anything else..it covers everything really. Its a bit super like and easily a track capable weapon, but you can slack it off and it's reasonably comfortable like a saloon for the daily school runs. It's got space for the family and a big boot.
Weirdly my 3 car all contain V6 engines 😳 For family practicalities I would get a Porsche Macan, for the Saloon cruiser it would be an Alfa Guilia QV, and the weekend track day toy would be a Nissan GTR 😅 I clearly didn’t think this through or I am a sucker for the V6 🤔 and yet I own an inline 5, which is clearly a cylinder shy of 6 🤣

That's it. Don't need anything else..it covers everything really. Its a bit super like and easily a track capable weapon, but you can slack it off and it's reasonably comfortable like a saloon for the daily school runs. It's got space for the family and a big boot.
Weirdly my 3 car all contain V6 engines 😳 For family practicalities I would get a Porsche Macan, for the Saloon cruiser it would be an Alfa Guilia QV, and the weekend track day toy would be a Nissan GTR 😅 I clearly didn’t think this through or I am a sucker for the V6 🤔 and yet I own an inline 5, which is clearly a cylinder shy of 6 🤣
