      I think it's kind of a lottery with used cars , I had a friend that bought a small used car for £2000, it lasted him 4-5 years with no major repairs . He didn't use it every day, but was a great buy and he drove it quite a lot.

  • @joebloggs4191

    I always said you can get far more for your money buying used than buying new plus you will suffer less depreciation too. However a lot of these cars will cost you an arm and a leg to maintain and repair compared to a Civic or Astra but I would still do it! Couldn’t fathom spending 40k on a boring every day run of the mill car.

    • @luxorcephrenSE23
      @luxorcephrenSE23 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I agree with you, but also the depreciation of a new car is outrageous. After 5 years you're probably left with approx 35% of what you paid. Much rather have a used car, pay more for ongoing costs but have far far less depreciation to deal with later!

    • @TheYBGOON
      @TheYBGOON ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Surely you by a used car for 20-30k and use the 10-20k left for mods and services.
      You could get a 911 and stage 1 it. Or a golf r 7 and stage 2 that. Then your car would be more personal to you.
      I’ve got a 16 plate used octavia 1.4 150 with light visual mods as I want understated look but just enough for some thrills. Spent under 15k And it can keep with a hot hatch to about 110-20mph before the extra 50bhp makes a difference. If i remap it which I don’t want to plus get some
      Nice tyres and better suspension I don’t know why I would want more.

    I'm not sure if I really would want to own a used, old BMW i8. Sure, it looks amazing, but it's almost impossible to get spare parts as it's so rare, so owning it will be quite expensive, and the performance isn't great for the power. The same also applies to many other cars in the list. Of course, they look like amazing value, but spare parts for a >100k car will always be a lot more expensive than for a Golf for example, same for insurance, taxes and also fuel consumption. There is a difference between being able to buy a car, and being able to afford it. You should always keep in mind the total cost of ownership.

      I’ve extensively modified it so it’s nothing like the factory offering but even as standard it was head and shoulders above my much loathed mk3 Audi TTS. Never has 400bhp been so boring. Not the cars fault as the engineering is beyond reproach, so much so that it’s dull.
      I’m not hugely keen on the flat six sound, let alone the torquey turbod flat four of the Boxster so as brilliant as they may be, they’re ruled out.

    You should have named the video “How to sell your family fast”. Mans suggested leasing a 2012 Bentley GT, oil change and annual service alone costs like used Honda and once first airmatic balloon goes out, so does the first kid. Maserati should come with a personal priest that blesses the car before every drive, because sometimes even mechanics will say no to it’s repairs. Out of whole list Alpha and somewhat R8 could, slightly, but could make some sense. Rest is a red flag.

    out of that list though, the Alfa guilia/AM rapide would be great fast family type 4 seaters, though an Audi RS4/RS6 might have something to say about that.

    Even if you don't want a sporty car, the fact that you can get such highly spec'd cars for under the average new price should make buying new not sensible option for most people, especially if its on years of finance for a basic car, if you go for a used car you can get a top of the range spec'd family or small car for way below the ridiculous prices a lot of daily family or work use new cars are being sold at & you have the information available about true running costs, reliability, function, practicality etc, to make the right informed choice, you don't get with newly released cars
