Hi George, when you were talking about the metal banks, someone was talking, it sounded like in a different language. Felt kind of paranormal. Great show though.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge. I learn so much from your videos. I mostly collect what I can from about 1900 to 1955. I’m in a wheelchair so getting out to thrift myself is complicated and fairly impossible. But knowledge makes me a better buyer online wherever I can.
Hi there it's Deb in Virginia City just wanted to say thanks again for our phone appraisal last week I really appreciate you so much😊 your awesome can't wait for this video 😁
Good evening, George. Straight away, there was a statue, on a pedestal, in the window that caught my eye. I like that sort of classical statue. The Dugan _Wreathed Cherries_ berry set was fantastic. If I had space, I'd love to have that set. I have one of the Vapo-Cresoline lamps, with the box. Loved that barrister bookcase. There was a Rolls Royce Silver Ghost in the mix of cars. That would've likely come home with me. That handmade Eastlake table was fantastic! My favourite duck decoy was the "rough-and-tumble" looking one. I like them to have been used and show it. I would've completely lost track of time, in that clearance section with the books. Loved the ice fishing fish decoys. That lamp was definitely a handsome one! I'd like to know who made it. That mall looks to be a spectacular place to shop! Thanks for the take-along!
Hello there! I liked that piece in the window too, but I especially thought of you when I saw the Dugan set and wanted to feature it. I've had a few of the Vapo-Cresolines, the box is a nice thing to find with them. I had a Rolls Royce Silver Ghost (I think a Matchbox Models of Yesteryear) as a kid! I do honestly prefer the older decoys that have had a lot of use, but collectors really seem to favor the artist made ones just as much now. I was happy to spot two Leslie Ford books my mom had at such good prices, would've spent more time if I had it! I'm still looking to see if I can i.d. the lamp, it was so handsome...
Wow George! You sure do get around. Thank you for showing us all of these wonderful places to find the old stuff. It’s great to see that there are still so many great places to shop across our country and to the north and south of us. Your videos are wonderful. ❤
when I was in hairdressing school ( a long ,long time ago...I am classified as vintage/maybe antique... in the UK) we used that ultraviolet ray machine to comb thru hair--supposed to encourage hair growth.
Thank you for Sharing your day. I so enjoyed the fishing lures. My dad liked to fish. Our neighbors next door I called them Uncle Joe and Aunt May. Uncle Joe liked to fish too.And tired hus own lures. I was always amazed at watching him. Please Stay Safe Happy and Healthy Have A Wonderful Day
George, how do you know something about everything?!?! It’s literally one of the most impressive things I’ve ever seen! I found your channel through Laura and Jesse. Not sure if you have ever done a video on your life and how you have acquired your knowledge…but, I’d love to hear your story! Safe travels, Katie from Iowa
Oh that’s great, I really enjoy their channel! I just love all this old stuff and so I study it a lot. I sometimes refer to my origin story but I’ll have to do an official version someday
I learned to drive in my Grandma’s 1954 Ford, 3 on the tree! It was a rust bucket for sure! The back floor board had license plates covering the holes! lol on the dashboard was the choke. I learned that I could pull it out just a bit and used it like a cruise control (on my 20mph street. That way I was able to control my speed so I didn’t get a speeding ticket! lol
What an amazing shop and lots of information. I seen a lot of beautiful glass in there too. It would take a couple of weeks to see all that and I would definitely love every minute of it as well. Thank you for sharing and you have a great day with safe travels
Awesome you found your long awaited Silver overlayed glasses !!!! Made me happy to know that im not crazy for looking for Colonial Figurine couple that disappeared prob 30 + yrs ago. Found out abt 10 yrs ago they were from my fathers grandmother. I dont need them. Im just dieing to know the maker !
Keep on looking! Yes, it can take ages to fill out a collection or replace a certain lost something. My mom never found her Chen Yu earrings from high school, I finally found something made by them after she passed last year and it wasn't the ones she looked for all those years, but I am going to keep trying
There is a lot “mainstream” L Hjorth with birds and flowers. Does not sell well…but there are other Lines from the 20’s with really interesting patterns that goes higher. Also look for the “marbel glace” made by Thora Hjorth. It’s stunning. I collect this…can’t bare to sell it even tho I should😎
if you ever venture into the chicagoland area, you should try to visit the LaGrange Park Antique mall, not as big as this one, but lots of cool things....loved the video
You memtioned your Mother liking Leslie Ford books. Intrigued by the mystery, I found out Leslie Ford was an alias for Zenith Jones Brown. Thanks for fun
Oh you made me laugh. My Dad used his violet ray machine as a party entertainment back when I was little. I recall there was a manual that was still with it and there were different - let's say peculiarly shaped - glass inserts that came with it. I remember the one you've demonstrated in your video was against hair loss and balding. My parents' guests each got a little sample cure 🤣 As a disclaimer: my Dad was an electrical engineer, so he knew that is was safe to use.
I love your videos! As a collector, vendor, and enthusiast, would you consider highlighting some of the clothing and accessories you happen upon in your thrift with me videos? Thanks!
the first oil found in the United States happened in Titusville, Pennsylvania and lead to the creation of the Standard Oil Companies by the Rocafellers along with Charles Pratt the namesake of the Pratt Institute in New York City.
That is true! But there is also one in Ontario, however, and because this was found only an hour from there, I believe this piece was referring to the Canadian one. It apparently was the first oil strike in English North America (1857)
Native American pottery? Weaving? I see them in the cases on the videos but they are seldom highlighted. We went out west for vacation, and went to museums. Such beautiful crafts.
Hi from Kalamazoo, MI! Happy to watch you in Port Huron! What happened around 8:02 timestamp? I think the original owner of the money saver clock was trying to contact you! Listen closely 😮
@TheAntiqueNomad hilarious! Next time you're in MI, consider the Kalamazoo / Portage area. KalamazooKitty Marketplace place has a plethora of options to film/inform your viewers! Safe travels!
Interesting to be reminded that escaped slaves we aided by Michigandors. I think of the Underground Railroad through OH so of course it went on through Michigan to Canada.
You're right that it's not Chewbacca! I also looked up their King Kong mug, and it has a serpent handle and an image of Fay Wray at the bottom. Rumph did a similar ape mug to the one in the video, but it's not quite the same...that's what I get for not picking it up!
Oooh , that place is wonderful . And that piece of glass for 650.00. Bucket list for sure . That new Value Village Boutique in Calgary , what a disaster . Just has clothes , many ripped, stained and really worn . Clothes all over on the floor . Staff were rude . The worst thrift I’ve ever been in . They think by putting “ boutique “ in the name , they can charge more . No hard goods , just clothing . A shame, it’s on 3 floors in one of the beautiful old buildings downtown in Calgary .
That was a good piece!! I’m disappointed to hear that about Value Village, they’re usually better but I notice that a lot of thrifts that start “boutiques “ quickly go back to regular stores so we’ll see
@debrabollas9982 The German lady, she's a gem!!! She is a local antique shopper. She will talk your ear off, browse every vendors items and never forgets a smiling face!
I understand, but the folks who sold there were really excited to see me and their enthusiasm merited inclusion, even if that isn't how I usually do it
The ruby is stained, not flashed. Flashed glass is an overlay.
Thank you for that distinction! I will try to correct that in future videos. I have seen the overlays peel off so now I understand the difference.
I love big antique stores that sell quality items. This was a cool store!
It is a place where you can spend a whole day, and still have more to see.
Hi George, when you were talking about the metal banks, someone was talking, it sounded like in a different language. Felt kind of paranormal. Great show though.
I heard it to. Weird.

I am glad to hear that! I like your collecting era. Hopefully this info will help you when you're looking online as well.
You have a “radio” voice. Very smooth and easy to listen to.
Thank you!

Thank you! I try to keep the camera steady. I’m getting better with experience
This video had some very regional collections which was nice to see the variety .
It was a real treat to see so much regional variety too!
Thank u , George. I think, we are all looking forward to your next appraisal fair.
Me too, I'll let you know when it's happening!
TY for sharing your knowledge and love of antique's.

I enjoy pottery because of the feel and the glazes.❤
Me too! So tactile

❤ your shows so much , you explain stuff.
Thanks! I figure that helps us all appreciate these things more

I really love sharing these places with everyone!
Ever go to Rochester NY
@ hope to get back up there during Madison Bouckville show next year
Hello George , looking forward to your video.
Glad you're along for the ride!
when I was in hairdressing school ( a long ,long time ago...I am classified as vintage/maybe antique... in the UK) we used that ultraviolet ray machine to comb thru hair--supposed to encourage hair growth.
Same here. We referred to it as a high frequency machine. Made your hair smell like you had been outside!
I know the combs were scalp stimulators! They work on arm hair, too
Love your videos Gorge ❤❤❤❤
Speaking as a former phlebotomist, great veins George!
Thanks, my mom is to credit
My mom had that ashtray in the early 70’s..
Can’t wait for another of your famous learning experiences!

That’s a great story! My oldest car was a 1949 Studebaker, but they put on an automatic choke that year so I never got to use it that way
What an amazing shop and lots of information. I seen a lot of beautiful glass in there too. It would take a couple of weeks to see all that and I would definitely love every minute of it as well. Thank you for sharing and you have a great day with safe travels

Orange books are great for Halloween
Yes! They sold right away
Another wonderful video George! If I was just young enough to keep up with you I'd love to come along! Thanks for showing me around! ❤
It's fun to virtually bring you along!
I like to imagine owing so many pretty things although i know I don't have room for it all. A girl can dream i guess ❤
Yes, we have to pick our favorites
Hello, love watching you!
I am happy to hear that! I’ll keep them coming
Hi by george been waiting patiently fore this and first thumbs up 😊 ❤
I agree about pottery. More pottery, please!
Will do! It's capturing my attention lately

Good to know! I've looked for more info on Hjorth but it seems to be in short supply here. How cool that you have a collection and more info!
Wow that old lady ghost is following you again at 11:00.
I still have my Golden Nature Guides! My favourite is "Pond Life."
I like the regional flora and fauna ones
if you ever venture into the chicagoland area, you should try to visit the LaGrange Park Antique mall, not as big as this one, but lots of cool things....loved the video

You memtioned your Mother liking Leslie Ford books. Intrigued by the mystery, I found out Leslie Ford was an alias for Zenith Jones Brown. Thanks for fun
Yes! She was a University of Washington graduate, as am I.
I was just in Port Huron 2 days ago. Wish I had known you were in town. Deej
I was there a little while ago, but isn't it a fun place to go?
Oh you made me laugh. My Dad used his violet ray machine as a party entertainment back when I was little. Thanks George for another great tour! I always learn something!
Thanks! I'm glad to oblige
What a wonderful store!! Loved your interaction with the vendors. So many beautiful things that were displayed so lovely! Thx again George!!!
They were excited, and I was too!
I was so upset when you were in Port huron. I was in bed with pneumonia . But I very happy you showed Sarnia, Ontario. My hometown .
I’m sorry I missed you but I’ll plan to be back! I’ve only driven through Sarnia but it’s a pretty setting

George, those little dresses look like the clothespin holders that I have.
You are right!
I love your videos! As a collector, vendor, and enthusiast, would you consider highlighting some of the clothing and accessories you happen upon in your thrift with me videos? Thanks!
I need to do more of that! I know some brands well but don't find them a lot. I'll try to give that more focus
Enjoyed this George!😃

@pammywhammy3521 hi my pammy whammy it would be impossible not to enjoy one of george s vid
@lenaraay Yes! You are so right Lena!😊❤

There were rum runners down the cost here as well that apparently came in from Maine
Yep! And Canada
BTW great video.
I appreciate it!
Weller’s Ivory glaze line debuted in 1903.
It's such a nice feeling glaze! I usually associate it with 1910s production, but since they were the world's largest pottery in 1908 that makes sense
the first oil found in the United States happened in Titusville, Pennsylvania and lead to the creation of the Standard Oil Companies by the Rocafellers along with Charles Pratt the namesake of the Pratt Institute in New York City.
That’s right! I was surprised to learn that the Canadian wells predated it
Yay Guelph!
I like Ontario
Petrolia is on the Northern Calif. Coast where they did discover oil.
That is true! But there is also one in Ontario, however, and because this was found only an hour from there, I believe this piece was referring to the Canadian one. It apparently was the first oil strike in English North America (1857)
Steven was the artist of pisgah forest pottery in NC
That makes sense, it had that feel!

Very good!! My bird I.d. Is not so apt
@@TheAntiqueNomad I've noticed it's getting pretty good! Flamingos, egrets, canvasbacks...
@@emilyburton4095 I learn from pictures I see for sale lol
One day, I want to get a dulcimer!!! ❤❤❤
They sound so nice!
I think the " children's dresses" look like clothes pin holders. They would have a pocket inside to hold the pins.
I was just about to make the same comment. Absolutely they are wooden clothes pin holders for the clothesline.
I'm surprised I missed that, but I didn't pick them up! Thank you for that
Those little dresses are clothes pin holders!
You’re right, I totally missed that!
Native American pottery? Weaving? I see them in the cases on the videos but they are seldom highlighted. We went out west for vacation, and went to museums. Such beautiful crafts.
I did a big feature on it in the Portland Rose City VIntage Market, check it out in the Oregon playlist! (Not too long ago)
The “children’s dresses” are Clothespin holders.
Yes, I should've picked them up and would've seen that!
Hi from Kalamazoo, MI! Happy to watch you in Port Huron! What happened around 8:02 timestamp? I think the original owner of the money saver clock was trying to contact you! Listen closely 😮

Interesting to be reminded that escaped slaves we aided by Michigandors. I think of the Underground Railroad through OH so of course it went on through Michigan to Canada.
That's right! I'm sure some crossed at Toledo into Canada as well
You’re funny sometimes. It’s going to hurt alittle bit, but anything for my viewers . Ha Ty George 😊
Whatever it takes! Lol
I wonder how many pedestrians you could get for a watch?
I believe the mug at 35:00 is King Kong not Chewbacca ( hint was the banana handle)
You're right that it's not Chewbacca! I also looked up their King Kong mug, and it has a serpent handle and an image of Fay Wray at the bottom. Rumph did a similar ape mug to the one in the video, but it's not quite the same...that's what I get for not picking it up!

Why would a girl be named Iodine?
I think it was because she was a pain, and kids in that era had cuts and scrapes treated with iodine and it burned a little
The name iodine comes from the Greek word iodes, which means "violet". 💜
@ oh interesting! I’m not trained in the classics
No wonder she's an ex girlfriend you didn't give her arms forever and ever ahahah
Lol you are correct! She never forgave me
