George! I love it when there's a new show! My husband and I are impressed by the amount of information you are able to retain (and he teaches college level math). I can't remember as much as either one of you. You have set the bar too high for me to be able to watch any other antique shopper. I started watching because I opened up a booth at a new "antique" flea market so I could sell all of my mother in law's antiques (from HER booth) we inherited. We have a lot of stuff people don't seem to want to buy or pay much . I'm trying to learn as much as I can so I can sell things for what it is worth at this point in time. I know it fluctuates. We are the only antique booth in the entire building of about 64 or so booths. It is still filling up. My prices just can't be as low as the resellers who shop at goodwill, buy junk, and try to sell it in their booth. They make my prices look like too much. But I refuse to sell cranberry glass for 3 dollars!!!!!! Everyone else's booth prices are 3 to 10 dollars. Ridiculous!
@@playdohsrepublic3562 hello there! Thank you so much for the kind words, I really enjoy all this. True that some parts of the market are weaker than once were, but if you look at completed sales on eBay, you find that most things do still sell. You may have to do your own promotion of your disc through social media to get established, but if you’re the only vintage booth in a mall selling low end, you may want to look elsewhere for a place that is more antique mall and less general.
I didn’t know-although it should have been obvious-that our car trunks are called “trunks” because of the way they used to strap an actual trunk to the back of early vehicles. Oh George, you have so much to impart. I also learn something new from your fun and informative vids. Thank you and happy hunting!
I loved that modernist vase. The Chopper Hopper was funny/cute. The bench from the 70s is an epic find, in perfect shape. Once again, such a great video. ❤
I agree... don't be missing out on the German pottery ;) IMO, I think it is going to be more sought after on the coming years. They really have some great glazes and techniques.
Operation Moon Probe 🙌🏻. What a treasure to look at. I’m sorry I missed this, My apologies. Love the two tired wood kitchen holder. Everything you picked up was interesting to me 👍❤️🐩 The red velvet hanging lamp did remind me of Black Hole Sun video. 😁
I was really looking forward to your show as an escape from this week's news. Thank you George! I would have loved to seen the tapestry from the twenties the woman was buying from the mall.( Was hoping you would go over and ask to see it) I love all kinds of embroidery!
The reverse painting of a place in Rome is the Mausoleum of Hadrian, also known as Castel Sant'Angelo. 10 roman emperors and 2 of their wives were buried there subsequently. Later it was converted to a castle for the popes in case they needed a safe refuge. It is linked to the Vatican by the Passetto di Borgo (a secret passway). And everybody of course now has seen it in the movie Angels and Demons. - I just love how you always point out the cool European pieces and I'm very impressed how many of them you recognize!
Good evening, George. That French portrait box is my kind of thing. I liked that one. I have a Dormeyer percolator, and it makes fantastic coffee. I really liked that wall-hanging font and basin. There was a portrait plate, behind the Fostoria centre-handled tray, that caught my eye. That 1920s Middle Eastern tapestry would've likely had to come home with me. The stains weren't a deal breaker for me. I'd like to have that Ice-O-Mat. There were several items there that caught my eye. It would be a fun place to shop. Thanks for the take-along!
Hi there! It was so pretty, if I was collecting them I'd have bought it at the discount. I knew you'd like the font and basin, I think it was pretty special really! Dormeyer made great stuff...I generally like and use old appliances whenever I can. I did like that portrait plate too, I suspect it was someone famous but I didn't take time to look. The tapestry could probably have been cleaned by someone who is more confident in that than I! The Ice-O-Mat is a great machine, because it can reverse from coarse to fine it never jams and I used mine for years until I found a 1950s electric one that makes the most horrid crunching noise that I love when I use it. It really was a good recommendation and I'm glad I went!
Not only do they use fur in the mountain states, they did have fur farms in the various towns in those mountains. Most have gone out of business now, but they were still in business when I lived there in the early 80’s. (Coalville, Morgan area).
Hi George, hope you are having fun! That was such an interesting place with so many items of varied history. Lots of different kinds of not always seen pottery. I liked your comparison of the Haegar and German pieces, were they comparable in quality? And the McCoy Harmony I think I've seen before but not in the pink color. The Abingdon line has caught my attention in the last few years but it doesn't seem to be very desirable. Nice dinnerware, great furniture, cute planters, interesting tins, and older glass pieces. And the "Alice" box was stunning! This video had it all! Now time to go watch again....😊 Thank you for another very educational experience! Travel safely. 🦋
I found them similar in quality, yes! I like Abingdon and have seen some pieces that sell well, I think they made things so well that they didn't lose many through chipping or cracking and that may be why they aren't more expensive now. I'm glad you liked this one!
Hello from Cleveland. I have some roly poly glassware from my Dad with silver rims and Chevy cars on them from the 60s. He worked at the Chevy plant here in Cleveland. I love using them but the silver wares off after a lot of use. That’s ok I just bought some more! And I love glass grapes. They catch the light so great.
I LOVE the Franciscan Apple pattern. $70 for 3 nesting bowls is a price I’d pay for them. It’s what I used to give for the small one alone. I always got a lot of use out of those bowls.
1:49 😮 that belongs in my old glass collection. So lovely! 2:42 is that lavender bowl biomorphic? 4:49 I haven’t seen those before. Love Josef flocked minis, another of my collections. 24:58 beautiful! I liked hearing about your first sales being little planters! I have their pixie pushing a wheelbarrow. It’s so silly!
I don't think that one is a color-changer, it's funny with that shade that some is alexandrite glass and some is not. I hadn't seen that set with the California label before! I remember my first booth like it's yesterday, I had a shelf of those little Shawnee planters that I bought in Denver and was so proud of how that looked.
5:15 Me thinks the rising prices of Haeger is being influenced and favorably sought after due to none other than the Crazy Lamp Lady She sure does love just about anything Haeger And so do I!
What is it with you vintage shoppers. You don’t drive vehicles big enough to buy large items. I drive a Chrysler town and country touring. Seats fold down in the floor. As big as a truck in the back.
Still producing and selling Hess vehicles.
Really? I didn't realize! I thought they gave it up, I'll pin this so people know they are
Hats off and big salute to our Veterans God does bless America 🇺🇸
That was a lot of fun. Thank you George, I liked the ice shaver as well 🇨🇦❤️
It's a great little thing, right?
love to see your videos

I like the Carolina pottery too, but not for 70.00. The Motorola radio is very stylish. I love the English deco pitcher. The handle is a favorite 😍 ✨️
Agreed on all points!

You're welcome! I honestly am a car buff who didn't put that together until I read an old-time car book I found at an estate sale
Agree!! I said to my husband .... "TRUNK!"....well DUHHHH!! And I never say "duhh." LOL

Thanks so much! I'm glad a viewer recommended this place
That ALICE box was most beautiful box ive ever seen !!!!!
Wasn't that pretty?
Lots of treasures ❤loved that pink and white plastic dishes set,and the pink lamp set
Love the pyrex and victorian bed
George so glad you got to see our beautiful scenic state!
We got our first snowfall in the Salt Lake Valley today!
It's so pretty there, even in snow

The 70s day bed wow it's awesome 😊
I'd love to have had that one!

I would have done, but she had it at the counter and out the door before I got a chance!
Very neat and organized. Thanks for sharing! 😊

Always a treat to learn from you, thank you so much!!!
You're welcome, it's my pleasure!
I remember Tiffany, Thrifting Vegas, mentioning her learning experience from that large quality of Anna Lee 😂
Fun to see you shop in my neck of the woods. My daughter went to college in Logan. I will have to put this on my places to go list.
Cool! It looks like a nice campus

Interesting! I didn't know that!
I'd love one of those Wile Ware (sp?) vases if you come across another. Super cute.
Will look for you! Max Weil made really great stuff in L.A. in the 1938-1950s era
So many lovely pieces! Thx for sharing!
Thanks! It's so much fun to find them.
❤❤❤

@TheAntiqueNomad Makes perfect sense! None of the pieces I own have any damage at all. 😉
Love that coralline piece!
Little dressers side oddly-shaped mirrors remind me of big ears😊
Lol yes
Thanks! Great video!
By George I think not !! I would have so been there first 😂😮❤

Yes, I agree!
The English Deco piece is nice at 22:08. I can't believe people slept sitting up.
It seems impossible to me, but it was the way apparently. I like 1930s English pottery!
George, I noticed some Southerners refering to the trunk of their car as the boot. As do some Brits.
Interesting, I'lll listen for that!
I collect Vernon Kilns ... I love it and have never seen that pink modern pattern... Oh man I Gota find some of that ...
It's so good! I think it came out right about the time they sold out to Metlox.

Me too! I always thought it was good, but since they've gone out of business, collectors seem to finally be giving it its due
🌟❤🌟
Wonder if Ms Pat has A She Yi Chen cookie Jar !!
❤
Come out come out it is Wed
😘🤗!
Was Fairy soap the precursor of Ivory soap?
No, same firm owns it now but they were sold in competition with one another
@@TheAntiqueNomad Thank you for the clarification.
18:22 I'll bet the old radio pulls in AM signals better than modern car radios even. The new ones are JUNK.
Yes and the bass reflex in the old radios is nice too

LOL! Good idea! I thought George drove a van????
That's what I drive, but it's always full of boxes of stuff!
Great video
Thanks!
