The Florence Ceramics story is incorrect. She lost a young son to I believe a blood disease (not war related) and she took up making ceramics during her grieving process. But her other son and her husband did not die in the war. That son,a Marine who survived the war, and her husband who was away for a time in Utah during the war doing government work both worked at and helped run her company after the war.
When I visit an estate sale I tend to get melancholy. The one you are in now I imagined the lady having lavish dinner parties with all the silver and china. Then perhaps garden parties when she would have friends over and use some of her silver serving pieces and tea cups. What fun she must have had collecting all that beautiful glass and other items. To her I say rest in peace sweet lady your precious collections will still be loved and appreciated. Hugs 🥰 to you George.
She really did love to collect it and loved her garden! She's fortunately still with us in her 90s and ready to let other people enjoy it the way she has.
Oh my! A collector of....well everything! There will be something for everyone at this sale. I hope it does very well. It was fun seeing all the goodies, but I would get overwhelmed trying to set it all up! Thanks again George for the adventure. 😊
I love this video because of all the knowledge you share George but also the large interest the lady had & wish I could attend the sale, good prices 🇨🇦❤️
Amazing estate, wish I was a little closer. Am a sucker for all things vintage sewing, and would be happy digging. Some of the thimbles looked interesting. Recently, I found a small display box of thimbles at the GoodWill. It was sealed loosely in a baggie, but looked like it had at least 2 bone china thimbles, a questionable glass one and then several wooden ones. Ended up with a Murano glass thimble, 2 German made thimbles and 4 antique gold thimbles and 1 antique child's silver thimble. The gold and silver were stacked inside the wooden and other thimbles, so when donated they just bagged up as is and didn't look. As a collector of vintage sewing/fiber arts, I have found that, luckily, these items still don't get as much attention by the resellers, at least where I am, so i can still find them on occasion at the GoodWill at a reasonable price, unlike my art glass or swung glass vases that i used to find 5 years ago. Oh well.
Oh yes! Vintage sewing is cool stuff. I saw a few thimbles I really liked, what a nice find you got at Goodwill. The gold and silver are ones that some people just don't understand and get passed over, so a good area to collect!
This is the type of estate sale that I love going to, full, Full, and FULL. Lots of looking and digging to find the special treasures. Thanks for sharing and you have a great day with safe travels.
Hello, I enjoyed listening to you as you shared some of your evidently considerable knowledge of various items. Thankyou. Every blessing to you and yours!
"Sombreros, my goodness" oh George, I'm watching the last half of this in the morning, almost spit out my coffee ☕️ 😂 You could run commentary walking on blacktop and make it interesting! Love from Phoenix 🌵
A few people said that! I've had people come to sales like that and say they'd return when it was more cleared out. I get it, Xeno's that way but I have to admit that for me, this is exciting and fun!
@@TheAntiqueNomadI'm so on the fence between extremely excited & extremely anxious 😂 Is this in Medina? I'm in Bothell & would love to check it out! George, you are the best!🎉
The old Woodie reminded me of The Flying Nun. On another note, my father passed in 70 or 71, I was around 11 yrs. old. My Mom, every year after decorated the tree and the house in blue light bulbs. Thanks for the tour, George, always a pleasure.
Amazing array of items in this house that had to love collecting! So good that estate sales have had such popularity that the items that are left behind will be collecting and put to good use or even resales. Incredible job ahead and how it will all be displayed for the sale will be one major task. And the plants outside....wouldn't I love to drift through that area and bring home some 'jewels'!
Interesting video. I am a recovering shopaholic who used to have a lot of stuff, but it was nothing like this! For several years now, I've been taking a car load of stuff to Goodwill every month without fail. I'm almost 75, and all those things, mostly clothes and furnishings, felt like they were weighing me down. 🌺
I'm glad you are feeling lighter! It does feel good to declutter. I did my downsizing early in life, and even though I still love to buy and sell, my collection is growing but slowly, and I often substitute a new find for an old one that isn't as nice. I figure if I keep just that which I really love and will use, it sharpens my eye and makes me be selective
I’d take that yellow tea/bar cart that is outside and clean it up and replace the wood with glass as you suggested. It’s such a wonderful shape and I love the yellow color!
Holy Moly I'm glad but sad that this is too far away from me to be able to purchase items Those prices are fantastic!!!! I would go into buying overload Thanks for sharing

I am still watching this video but I had to break away while this was fresh on my mind: it is AWESOME to hear someone else (YOU) use the term "demilune" ... I love the shape and styles of demilune stands/tables and scoop them up for resell when I can, however I often get the "deer-in-the-headlight" look when I use the word "demilune"😂Julie
What you referred to as an "olive lifter" I do believe is actually a "sugar tongs" for sugar cubes ... I know because I had to polish my mother's tongs when growing up! Of course, it would work for olives as well ... 🤩
Yes, they are mainly for sugar cubes, and while a few people use them for olives, there are other utensils specifically for olives so sugarcubes is the correct answer
The backyard "garden" reminded me of shopping at Lowes garden department. lol, 😉I have nothing in comparison and this is not a dig at all to the homeowner, but the the upkeep would make me coo coo.🤪😊
OMG The photo cube! I would love to get out in that garden. I almost felt a little sad looking at all those things thinking that perhaps those folks were hoarders. But they had lovely collections. Thanks for a sharing a great video George.
@@TheAntiqueNomad This is true George. I think I am projecting my own fears a bit here :) I hope you are doing well. It has been pouring rain here! But as I like to say, we need the water. Take it easy, broseph.
The olive or sugar tongs can be used at the table for olives on a relish or tidbit tray or the tea table for the little square cubes or sugar, not for the granulated type sugar. Very interesting item.
There is so much good stuff so much i want. Its always sad to me when a cute old home is being torn down. Wish i could go to estate sale but California is to far to travel from..LOVE LOVE the furs
Good evening, George. Geez! This was more than a little overwhelming. There was so much there, and so many collections of different things, it would take the better part of forever to browse that sale. At $6 to $8 each, I'd load up on the jewel trees. I would've ended up with a collection of salt cellars, too 😂 I really liked the Royal Vienna demitasse cup and saucer. There was an Asian doll where the Woodstock figure was that interested me. Those Fenton Jade pieces were beautiful. I really liked the vitrine. The quilts would've definitely had my interest. I would've definitely gained a lot of weight...toting all of those geodes with me 😆 It would take several days to just shop that sale. Having to price all of it...😧 Lots of really interesting items there! Thanks for showing it to all of us!
Sure is a lot! The jewel trees are really cute and I'd never seen a whole collection together. The salt cellars are cool, I sell them well everywhere I go. Good eye on the Royal Vienna set, that was more special, and the Asian doll is a cute one that we see more on the west coast than where you are. The vitrine was the best piece of furniture in the house, although I like the marble top chest of drawers as well. Glad you had fun watching it unfold!
