    This ep hit me hard on multiple levels. Ke Huy’s character as a writer putting his own books on the shelves fucked me up (I’m in the process of editing and publishing my first novel) and Owen Wilson as a single dad who’s wife left him with the kids REALLY hit me hard, as someone who’s been in that position for a decade now. The writing conceit based around Ke Huy’s character discussing science (what and how) versus fiction (why) and then the answer really being “who” absolutely blew my hair back. Just a tremendous, tremendous episode

    21:31 Mobius was a single dad, yes. But did his wife leave him and the boys?(voluntarily)
    Mobius says she's 'Long gone.'
    Think about his branched timeline.
    2022 -during the 5years of the blip.
    His wife got snapped.

  • @fawnebrown4619
    @fawnebrown4619 ปีที่แล้ว +18

    There's a theory out now that Mobius's (Don's) wife, who he said is long gone, might have disappeared when The Snap happened. Since it was 2022 on his timeline, she could reappear the next year. They were fairly vague with some details.
    I wonder if to fix everything Loki will find he has to go all the way back to when he took the Tesseract. But would that whole timeline be lost and all the characters be gone except Loki? Or maybe just as far back when HWR was killed and stop that?

    It's a fiction problem, but the question is "who" -- it's literally Main Character Syndrome. The show is Loki, Loki is the main character, so Loki gets to decide what happens 😂 I do wonder whether Sylvie kept her memories because she's Asgardian or because she's specifically a Loki.

    Goddamn, that temporal reset, by the end of the episode really gave that vibe of the body's last real push to survive, where you feel fine briefly, before it all starts to shut down again. It filled me with so much dread the moment Sylvie's meal disappeared, like the ticking bomb under the floorboard. I wish we could have gotten a little more of it, but it was absolutely reminiscent of the Snap. It feels perfect that at the end of this, it'll be as if nothing happened, but Loki and his friends were instrumental in ensuring that all existence, for better and worse, could continue!
    EDIT: I also love how Loki's time-slipping resembles the spaghettification, really tying him to this whole story in such a satisfying way.

    Man, I am so glad I've been busy as hell the last several weeks and only just had time to catch up on this season this week. The episodes flowed so well in a continuous string, and I have to believe that waiting week to week for these has been agony. Great reaction and analysis as always; I love seeing Loki fully embrace his redeemed role as the God of Stories and understanding that the people in his life (the characters) are what he cares about the most, both because he doesn't want to be alone, but also because he really just genuinely cares about his band of misfits. And re: your point about the wild and trippy visuals, that's the main reason I was excited when Benson and Moorhead were announced to be directing some episodes of this season. Their filmmaking is all about that sort of thing, eerie and trippy tones, moods and visuals. Cheers!

    I think Möbius’ sons are like Thor and Loki .. hence why he took so quickly to this version of Loki.
    The taser in OB’s office looked like a pruning stick/timestick.
    B15 might have been meant to die in her timeline bc she’s in NYC in 2012... aka Loki’s invasion of NY.
    I think Loki is going to end up being not only more powerful than Dr. Strange, but one of the most powerful beings in the MCU.

    in the first season it shows how the TVA took her from Asgard, this isnt her branch timeline.
    she's in this timeline because she has he who remains' tem-pad. maybe the TVA's failsafe puts the tem-pad's owner in that last safest place it was in before meltdown.

    Loki starts slipping again. We saw that in the season trailer months ago (unless you were restrained enough to avoid everything). But also with everything being destroyed, there wasn’t much else that could have happened to not end the story. It was my guess anyway.
    The only thing it did to me is torture me with things I knew where coming without explaining how that could be (which is honestly the most I want from a teaser is they decide to have one- get me excited).

    I think the thing most people don't realize about the show is that, other than Loki, the cast members in this episode are NOT the same variants as in the TVA. They weren't reset, they weren't wiped of their memories, they didn't go back to their former lives. These variants are variants on the new branches formed after the death of He Who Remains, and as such never, at any point in their personal, chronological lifetimes, ever went to or knew about the TVA.

    • @yuukinoyuki9064
      @yuukinoyuki9064 ปีที่แล้ว

      I disagree:
      1. Sylvie is clearly, 100%, Sylvie. Why her and not the others?
      2. Loki specifcially slipped to them (as opposed to a different Mobius on a different branch) because *they* were his friends
      3. If they'd never been to the TVA, then they'd not have a shared temporal aura to lock onto.
      The TVA exists outside of time, I think the new timelines are branches because they each represent a timeline where the agent randomly ceased to exist (was plucked into the TVA). And I think that when the TVA unravelled they were each transported back into their respective branch at the exact second they left.
      Like Loki said he would do to Mobius.
      I don't know if it's technically a memory wipe, or what. But I do think those variants have been to the TVA even if they have no memory of it (or missing time.)

    • @DarthTingleBinks
      @DarthTingleBinks ปีที่แล้ว

      @@yuukinoyuki9064 Sylvie is Sylvie, I agree, but she has a tempad and it's implied she used it to get out of the TVA after the loom imploded. No other variant of Loki would have had a tempad because all other variants we've seen have been pruned. But the others, are NOT the same variants. The very fact the branches of all TVA agents have been pruned confirms as much. But even further, Victor Timely is from a branched timeline but has the same temporal aura as He Who Remains, who is presumably from the Sacred timeline, implying that all variants have the same temporal aura as one another. And all this is pretty obvious to me. Why nobody else understands it clearly is their problem.
      As for why Slyvie seemingly has a different temporal aura than other Lokis? He Who Remains made it so. He wrote the entirety of Loki and Sylvie's lives up until the moment Sylvie made the choice to kill him, so he probably wrote her as more than just a variant, but her own person, as well. She's unique in that way.

    • @yuukinoyuki9064
      @yuukinoyuki9064 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DarthTingleBinks Not quite how I see it. For one, I disagree that every Variant shares the same temporal aura. Loki and Sylvie have their own, unique, auras. You say its because He Who Remains (HWR) made it that way. I think it's the opposite; Victor has the same temporal aura as HWR because he was made into the same person (hence handing him the TVA handbook.) But even being the same person if you were to rewind Victor's personal timeline by 5, 10, 20 years you'd not end up at the end of Time with HWR because maybe Victor will become him, but he hasn't, yet.
      But what OB said was that if you gather all of the gang together (including Loki and Sylvie) and look at their temporal aura (a fingerprint of their timelines) that there would be 1 signature/note that is the same for all of them. That would represent the last moment in time they were all gathered together, and that's what OB could use to track the moment in time in the TVA before it was destroyed. And that's why I argue they're the actual TVA agents.
      I don't think they were sent to their original timelines, per se - those were pruned - I think they were sent to a branch that didn't have a chance to grow until HWR died.
      So, like, on the Sacred Timeline Don lives happily with his wife and kids. In 1 branch his wife dies in the Snap making Don an only father. He is ripped from that timeline to become Mobius and his timeline is pruned. But there is now an unexplored possibility, a branch that would have branched from Mobius' timeline. One where Don randomly disappeared and his kids are now orphans.
      The TVA exists outside of time, when HWR died timelines didn't start branching only from like 2023 onward. They started branching everywhere, all at once. I'd argue some of those unexplored timelines were actualized. Or maybe branches respawn. Or maybe there was a branch where both parents were dusted and Mobius slotted right into the convienently left space, etc.
      But the fact that the whole premise of the episode was that "who" mattered. And the whole premise of Slyvie's arc s1 was that variants of the same person are not the same person, it just feels like a weird artistic choice to pick up 5 random variants of his friends as opposed to the actual people he knew

    • @DarthTingleBinks
      @DarthTingleBinks ปีที่แล้ว

      @@yuukinoyuki9064 1. Your weird and completely unrelated notion of rewinding Victor's personal timeline and never ending up at the end of time is weird and unrelated. I know you can't rewind Victor's chronological timeline and get to the end of time, not just because that doesn't make sense, but because I don't think Victor is the same variant as HWR. Technically, with Loki now changing events within the TVA's chronological timeline, it's still possible he could at some point become HWR, but I find it unlikely.
      2. I understand why you argue they're the same variants. I disagree, though. Because, again, the timelines the TVA agents came from were created explicitly to recruit agents and then to be immediately pruned. So any new branch timeline that forms now, even if individuals from them join the TVA at some point, will not be the same variants, because they're literally from different timelines. And again, I don't think Victor will become HWR at any point in his life. He plays a role in the plan HWR set in place, surely, but I don't think the plan is for Victor to be brought into a causal loop.
      3. The TVA agents weren't sent anywhere, they spaghettified. That had no way of avoiding it, unlike Loki and Sylvie. And we have no reason to assume that individuals who are spaghettified are sent anywhere, or that they continue to exist at all.
      4. Not really important, but for some reason people assume that events that happened on the sacred timeline also happened on branches, but with different outcomes. But that's not necessarily the case. It's completely possible for a branch to exist that never experienced the Chitauri invasion, the destruction of Sokovia, the blip, etc. Also, I assume that if a branch is pruned, any timelines that branch off of it will have also been pruned. So there exists no timeline in which it is even possible for Mobius to have come from.
      5. The TVA does exist out of time. And I never implied that I think the branches only start in the year 2023. I understand that the branches occur at various different points in time throughout the sacred timeline. My point is, as I've reiterated time and time again, that these new branches cannot be the same branches the TVA agents came from, which necessitates that these are not the same variants as the TVA agents we know. If Marvel decides to write that they are the same variants, then so be it. It would just be a contradiction that I would hate, but have to accept. But as it stands now, I am sticking with my conclusion as it is the only logical conclusion to come to based on what the show has presented us.
      6. Again, I've noted that all variants (with the exception of Loki and Sylvie), have the same temporal aura. And while the experiences of each variant are different from one another, making them effectively different people, the fact remains that they are literally the same people. Slyvie is her own person, but she is also a variant of the same person Loki is a variant of, making them the same person, while also being different people. That doesn't make sense, but it would make more sense than Marvel contradicting what they've written so far. It's not like they haven't done it before, but they've spent two seasons creating rules that have remained uncontradictory so far, and it would be weird if they started contradicting them now.

    • @yuukinoyuki9064
      @yuukinoyuki9064 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DarthTingleBinks I'll leave it here, then. My point about rewinding Victor's timeline was to express the distinction between sharing a temporal aura and having shared experiences in time, but I digress. At its core your argument centers on the fact the spaghetified people can't be "sent" anywhere. Which might be true, or it might not be. Being pruned was meant to erase you from time but it sent you somewhere instead. Time will tell if spaghettification is an instant death. Or if it just atomizes you in one timeline and reforms you in a different branch.
      I'm almost certain that this whole story is meant be a closed loop with Victor being HWR and the gang being VA agents. But, again, time will reveal if this is true or not.

  • @serenity4eva89
    @serenity4eva89 ปีที่แล้ว

    But... the problem with Loki and HWR being "right" (as you said) about the TVA is that if it didn't exist this wouldn't be happening. It was explained by HWR (in 'For All Time. Always') that the natural state of the cosmos is a multiverse AKA "Universes stacked on top of his own", the fear of his variants (or his desire to be the only Kang) led him to create the TVA and the Loom (to win the Multiversal War), which forces the timelines into the Sacred Timeline (a wholly unnatural state for the cosmos). So, as Sylvie said (in 'The Nexux Event' ) "the universe wants to break free, so it manifests chaos"... AKA the cosmos wants to go back to its natural state. Unfortunately, they're now stuck wity having to fix the Loom to save what the Loom broke. Well, until something bigger happens, of course (like Kang Dynasty or Secret Wars). Its an ouroboros in itself
