Wasn't the explanation of why the "old" Loki (Richard Grant) was pruned by the TVA is because he "got lonely" and missed his brother? I don't know why, but that feels like what Loki is finally allowed to express this episode, and it allowed some potential to be unlocked in him.

This was a nod back to Loki as DB Cooper in S1E1.

The two guys with Casey at Alcatraz are the two directors of the episode. The guy Casey is "Frank" is an actual person, as well as the two guys who the directors play. In 1962 John and Clarence Anglin, and Frank Morris tried escaping from Alcatraz, no one knows to this day what happened to the three of them. A lot of stuff in Loki are references to random mysteries from real life. Such as the giant ship that landed in at the End of Time in season one was from the Philadelphia Experiment, the D.B. Cooper bit, the Mary Celeste ship, and the Polybius Arcade Cabinet.

"Loki is a villain." It is wild how y'all watched his entire story unfold across years and still reduce him to just that. Like...did you understand any of his narrative? Loki is a villain. And a hero. And an antihero. And noble. And flawed. That's been literally the entire point of his journey, him learning to understand and embrace all that he is just like anyone else. Loki also became the God of Stories in the comics, too. Not a villain.

THEY ARE NOT F**KING RANDOS SURAJ!!! The directors of the show, Benson and Moorehead made their cameo as the 2 prisoners escaping Alcatraz. 2 of the most underrated filmmakers in the business. They have not made a bad movie in a decade. Their movies meld heavy science fiction (mostly time travel) with so much heart and stunning visuals, often made on shoestring budgets. Proud of the 2 of them for how far they've come. They're going to be a big deal one day.

Interesting food for thought, Mobius (Don) lived in 2022. In the continuity of marvel, that’s a year or so before Hulk snaps and brings everyone back. When Don (Mobius) says his wife is “long gone” he may be referencing the Blip, and she may have gotten dusted. Might also explain why Kevin is such a delinquent😂

This was an excellent episode! In the opening scene, Loki time-slips through different timelines, creating a stunning visual effect. The scenario in which Loki meets his previous self is amusing and touching. It was fascinating to see how much Loki had developed and grown throughout the series. "Science/Fiction" was a terrific Loki episode, in my opinion. It was beautifully written, played, and visually gorgeous. I'm excited to see what happens next! The post-credit scene includes an audio-only stinger in which Zaniac says, "You died, insert a coin, LOSER!" The statement "You died, insert a coin, LOSER!" directly alludes to the Zaniac arcade game, in which the player must keep inserting coins to keep playing after their avatar dies. The arcade machine Loki and Sylvie saw in the episode is also seen in the post-credit scene. There's also a visual Easter egg for Tony Stark in the post-credits sequence. When Zaniac shouts, "You died, insert a coin, LOSER!" the camera zooms in on the arcade machine, exposing Tony Stark's visage reflected on the screen. The primary visual allusion to the TVA in the episode is A.D. Doug's timeline. A.D. Doug's workshop is almost identical to OBs in the TVA, complete with a Temporal Loom-style hanging structure. Whatever the cause, the fact that A.D. Doug's workshop is essentially similar to OBs in the TVA is an essential visual allusion that unites the MCU's various timelines and universes. It also implies that the TVA may have a more significant impact on the multiverse than previously anticipated. This episode's title card was a creative method to foretell the events of the attack. The title card depicts the letters of the word "Loki" disappearing and reappearing, representing Loki's timeline being fractured and unstable during the episode. Loki's Time-Slipping between Alcatraz, B-15's hospital, Ouroboros' lab, Mobius' jet ski shop, and McDonald's is an ingenious way to connect the show's various characters and plotlines. It also emphasizes the MCU's interconnectedness and that even seemingly insignificant events can have ripple effects on the multiverse. Loki's time-traveling ability is intriguing, and it can potentially change the course of history. Loki could use this new power to travel back in time to correct his mistakes or to the future to see what lies ahead. He could also use his time-traveling abilities to create alternate timelines, allowing him to explore different possibilities and outcomes. I'm curious to see how Loki uses his time-traveling abilities in the future. It has the potential to be one of his most powerful and versatile abilities. It will be fascinating to see how the MCU writers and directors use this new power to tell stories.

I think you guys are missing the part where YOU were also speculating why the branches seemed fine lol. Neither Loki nor Sylvie know the branches are dying till it starts to happen. For all they knew, it was only the TVA that got destroyed when the loom exploded and everything else was fine. As someone who never exactly got why Loki kept talking as if the end of TVA meant the end of the timelines (not in a Kang will screw everything up way, but in a direct way), let the TVA burn seemed like a reasonable choice till everything started to unravel. My reasoning was that multiverse must've existed before the loom and TVA, so it makes sense that it'd find a way to exist after. I must say, I still don't understand how it all works. (Why is the loom a thing? I guess it generates energy for TVA but it seems to have no real function for the timelines.)
It's not that Sylvie doesn't care about anything until it happens to her, it's that the one thing she actually doesn't care about is the TVA. Which, incidentally, is tied to everything Loki does this season. TVA erased Sylvie's reality and hunted her down for hundreds of years. She has no love lost for it or the people there. But she does care about the timelines and branches. Not just hers. After they took care of Dox in s2 ep 2, she could've gone straight back to check on her timeline but she stopped by the TVA first despite never wanting to step a foot inside. It was because she wanted to see the damage with her own eyes.

Theory: This is Loki’s soul going through the Asgaurd’s afterlife trials and lessons. Loki’s is dead also he never contacts Thor even at the end of time. And if he goes back and stops Thanos from snapping his neck would he then cease to exist because he never died?

It's also feasible that in the future, the MCU will combine Loki's God of Stories and Avenger Prime identities. This would be a very fascinating path to take the character, with a lot of storyline potential. Loki, the God of Stories, is an expert at deception and manipulation. He's also an extremely smart and savvy character. Avenger Prime, on the other hand, is a strong and noble figure devoted to the protection of the multiverse. Combining these two identities would result in a character that is both distinct and complex.

I don’t think that Loki travelled back in time with the variants of each character. He just needed them all in one room so that OB could travelled back to the exact time an place they all were in.
If they all go back together now then there will be 2 of each of them in the Loom control room. Which doesn’t help anyone. So I think this whole discussion got a bit derailed from this one misunderstanding.
I’m typing this a day after the newest episode came out though, so maybe I’m completely wrong and will have to come back to correct myself.

No, Casey wasn't dropped into Alcatraz and neither was anyone else dropped into theirs. They'd never been to the TVA. Yet. Loki just recruited them.

Loki and Friends form the TVA and are the Time Keepers (that being their group name). Kang and Renslayer take over during the war, smashing the statues, wiping minds, and using what was built to continue the TVA knowing he needs it to get to Victor.
