Who would have told me about 10 years ago that the Avengers would travel in time and because Hulk hated stairs, Loki would have one of the best superhero series and the best character development in the entire MCU?? Characters, visuals, music, mysteries, twists, performances, Loki and everyone who worked on it made a Glorious series
Many people, he’s one of the most popular comic book characters even before the MCU, but I agree, it’s amazing that pop culture is catching up to where nerds were 35 years ago, YAY HUMANITY!!!!( just kidding, god kill us all pls)
@@Mrs.Garrison69Hell no not Loki, people would expect a character like Doom to have a glorious character arc. No one saw Loki becoming this important.
@@therealdoctordoom5912 very debatable… especially with a guy who’s name is doctor doom. But Loki and the enchantress, all big marvel villains back in the 90s. Not as big as marvel’s ultimate bad guy, DR DOOM, the literal ultimate villain in every way in marvels cannon, is a pretty obvious choice. Loki is up there, especially with characters the MCU actually had rights too, since Sony got the majority lions share with the Spider-Man villians, there’s not a ton of super popular marvel villians other wise, the mandarin, red skull, and Loki are definitely the most recognizable at the time.
It’s crazy to think that at the start of this series we had a Loki who wanted to divide and conquer billions and now we have one that has saved and freed infinite amounts life
The funny thing is... Even tho Loki always says it's his fate to lose and end up alone... Both versions of him we have known have learned from their mistakes and become true heroes...
It’s amazing how Loki is our first villain that brings the Avengers together, only to end up having saved infinite lives in the end. THE best character arc in the MCU, holy shit
@@LouBirdwell, he kinda stopped he who remain and gave others a chance to do like him "do something different" to prevent a new Kang version becoming he who remain in multiversal war. I think right now marvel has timeloop of Loki and the Kang changing each other as keepers at the end of the time, and someone need to break it which will probably happen in the secret wars refreshing all the MCU in new way
The moment I realized he was basically becoming the World Tree was unreal. All of this was to save his friends, and now he has a life of solitude *literally* holding the world together. He started in the MCU wanting nothing more to sit on the throne of Asgard, and now he sits on a throne he didn’t want. Without question one of the best characters in the MCU! Also, HUGE SHOUTOUT to Natalie Holt for composing the music for this show! It’s some of the best in the MCU imo!
Yeah the idea of him creating something in the image of Yggdrasil was so brilliant. And exactly, Natalie Holt also created an amazing theme for Loki's character himself apart from all the other amazing pieces in the show
@@CoryAndorI think you've missed about a decade of superhero genre especially if you don't realise how rare this choice of not having the third act climax be a battle is.
And yet the same weight and amount of sacrifice. It's not action that makes a story flourish, it's the amount of pain and sacrifice the characters endure throughout the story.
This episode gave new meaning to Mobius saying "I need a Loki who remains" in the first episode of the season. It sounded like a convenient joke, suddenly it's prophecy.
At the end of a great series (or book), go back and rewatch the first episode (or chapter). The best show you who the characters really are and how a show will end.
IDK if you guys noticed, but the "For you. For all of us." line from Loki to Mobius and Sylvie is directly from the first Thor film at the end with Odin and Loki before Loki falls into space. Absolutely beautiful writing.
That’s what I’ve heard as well. Someone else pointed out that Wanda represents the Reality Stone (as both are red and manipulated reality), and that Kamala Khan represents the Power Stone and America Chavez represents the Space Stone. The only ones missing are the Mind Stone and the Soul Stone. Mind-blowing, really.
@@toffeefeathersThe stones are getting reincarnated into living beings so it wouldn't make sense for an android to get it, especially not one formally powered by it. The theory goes that the beings are the manifestations of those concepts (time reality space etc) so it wouldn't make too much sense of a manifestation of time had to use the time stone as a battery/heart
@@remus907 timelines are the branches themselves, yet things can exist outside these branches, like Loki himself. "universe" is all existence within a timeline. "multiverse" is the term for existence within all timelines and realities combined.
@@mr.meatsoup5639 thats technically true, but i think what he was referring to was the extended universe where tobey's spiderman and andrew's spiderman are from
@elliotalderson240 I haven't read most comics (only some spiderman and x-man), but I absolutely adore Loki from myths. He's such interesting character and proper God of Chaos, because even in myths his character evolved like no one else - always different, always changing, never truly good and never truly bad.
Guys, Loki could clearly hear Mobius say "Let some time pass." He sees everything in every timeline. Besides that, how old he can get doesn't matter at the end of time. HeWhoRemains was human and lived at the end of time for hundreds of years. Loki will be there for eternity and he became the God of Stories at the end.
How I saw this (opinion, please don't hate). He who remains was concerned about one timeline he could control. Loki is enabling all timelines to exist and is effectively anchoring the multiverse. His main concern being that his loved ones on the sacred timeline get a chance at being free. Loki straight up loved Mobius and Sylvie. This is the best of the MCU... deliberate, well executed and honouring a beloved character.
The multiverse is and has always been, it’s not like He who remains destroyed every other universe from the infinite amount. In S1E6 he said that he isolated the ”sacred” timeline so that other universes couldn’t touch them. The isolation means that you can’t let the timeline branch, otherwise it’s exposed.
@@Sozscimitar the multiverse was only there to the extent that it wouldn't spawn a variant of he who remains. any timeline that deviated enough from the sacred timeline to potentially spawn a kang variant was pruned. As soon as the decision was made to kill he who remains and allow the branching, variants came into existence since they would eventually begin time/multiverse traveling.
@@mcdotterson4103 yeah the only reason he protects the sacred timeline is because timely is a kang variant born too early to discover time travel without interference from the tva
@@Nekotaku_TVLoki is a god who can time jump, it’s fair to assume he can at the very least project himself around (if not just leave) should he really need to
@@Nekotaku_TV I'd assume once the multiversal war/battle with the kangs is concluded, he wont need to hold the multiverse together. I believe the purple/blue on the "top" of the tree were incursions/kang assaults.
@@MattyBmemesPeople keep saying this but he's said many times he never really wanted a throne, to Sylvie: "the last thing I want is a throne" he just wanted to be Thor's equal back in the first movie and then he just wanted to save his friends. This finale is more heartbreaking because he is alone and now he has a throne but he didn't want any of that.
He also maintained that what makes a Loki is that they'll always lose. He lost given that he's stuck in his greatest fear but he also chose his burden wherein he found his glorious purpose.
I feel so validated having Loki as my favourite MCU character and one of my all time favourite characters ever since Thor 1. Since his debut, Loki has been my number one, and then to see this, to see him become the most powerful character in the MCU with thee best character arc and story is just amazing. I cried in sadness and joy in equal measure from this episode. Production and writing second to none.
Once Loki mastered his Time Slipping abilities he became infinitely more powerful. Loki isn't going to age and seemingly has grown to have nigh infinite power. The Loki we see at the end of this episode is by far and away the most powerful entity in the MCU to date and it isn't even close.
I think he’s on par with He Who Remains. It’s just, Loki’s at the start, allowing the timelines to start and have life, and He Who Remains is at the end. I think this is what that imagery of the tree signifies. Loki the roots (start) of the tree, and He Who Remains’ purple leaves at the top (end) Could be wrong but that’s how I interpreted it
@@SwiddyDiddy Pretty sure that chair Loki sits in is at the remains of HWR's citadel after he was killed by Sylvie. You can see what's left of the window disintegrating away just before Loki sits on the throne. So HWR loses, Sylvie succeeds in killing him, and he stays dead while Loki destroys the loom, keeps the TVA alive, and keeps all the timelines alive.
@@SaucyB1God of stories is his official title lol There is a comic about this story where he goes from god of mischief to god of stories because he turned good
@@claudegrenier3180 Actually, did he? Think about it, HWR said he knows a "Loki", they are all selfish and are "destined to loose", but this? I don't think HWR predicted/expected Loki to do the most selfless thing he could. Standing alone at the end of time, sustaining the multiverse by his own power. All alone, what he feared the most.
Natalie Holt’s score from this season is an absolute masterpiece. Easily the best I’ve heard from any episodic series. It’s unbelievable. Out of this world. Emmy incoming.
The fact the TVA used to prune branches and decide which timelines were part of the sacred timeline and now there isn’t one, just a tree of every infinite timeline and Loki saved them all, giving up his time with his friends to sit there all alone to protect everyone. What a character arc. Such an incredible episode. Plus that score was stunning.
Loki is now the God of Stories. The Agent of Asgard comics came to life in front of my eyes with all of that imagery. Now Loki is all alone outside of time, holding those timelines together on his back in an unbearable burden where he cannot leave. He made such a tremendous sacrifice for everyone by doing this. It’s a heartbreaking and yet beautiful tragedy. He literally just didn’t want to be alone and now he is. For All Time. Always.
He spent centuries learning how to save his friends and not be alone and yet in the he had to let go of what he wanted to give his friends what they wanted and what Loki wanted them to have.
@@EX0TIC_ECL1PSE that's very true but he's literally doing EXACTLY what Atlez does in the comics. If he was God of Stories he'd literally write history the way he wants it to be. thats the purpose of God Of Stories Loki. Check out Comics Explained's video on the new Loki you'll see what I mean
The one time in his life that Loki didn’t crave a throne, it was thrust upon him. One he was finally worthy of, but one that made him (as Classic Loki noted) truly the god of outcasts. The one time he truly didn’t want or need to be alone, his glorious purpose/burden demanded isolation
He is a living Loom and has gone from being an MCU villain to one of its great heroes. He is allowing infinite timelines to exist so they, as Sylvi said, have a chance.
@@itsyvonblitz6819 for me a hero is not just measured in accomplishments but also what they sacrificed or were willing to sacrifice for others or the greater good so there are many that can fall in that category. Some of them are still alive some are currently dead in the MCU. I mean how many deaths did Strange suffer until Dormamu was willing to bargain?
@@imgettingtoooldforthis You make a valid point, but don't forget that Loki sacrificed everything so his friends can be free on the timeline. He learned all he could, centuries of time just trying to fix the ring. Who knows how many times Victor Timely was spaghettied, it was a lot in the show, we saw it happened similar to Dormammu and Strange. So to me Loki is the greatest because he sacrificed a lot for his friend's free will, living eternity with the burden of the multiverse literally on his back. Unlike for example Tony, who was able to die peacefully and finally rest, Loki has to keep at it for however long. So that's why I believe he is the greatest. Not denying anyone else of being a great hero, but Loki is definitely leagues above in my personal opinion. I can see a reason for being any hero you'd mention or someone else mentioned.

@@superbowler18 Agreed, I don't think it was anything special or particularly impactful but definitely an actual fun and enjoyable watch, which I couldn't say the same for Quantamania or Love and Thunder
Now I'm wondering if the Time Stone was green all this time just for Loki. Imagine how weird it was for Strange to be checking millions of timelines to figure out how to defeat Thanos, and Loki shows him the one way to win.
Mindblown Oo Edit: wait, no. That was the sacred timeline, that would have been Kang. In Loki's multiverse, there would be an infinite amount of ways to win. That's the point of freing the timelines.
@@profilore well, one could say Loki happened way before it all. While Infinity saga happened on STL, it also happened in "main" timeline, so the statement is both right and wrong.
That was a theme of this entire series. A god controlling all things and bothering/manipulating those timelines. Loki and sylvie always discussed it and even at the end they talked about it. Loki will set the timelines free and keep them safe, but he wont meddle in them or try to influence them.
Yggdrasil, the Tree of Life. In Norse mythology it's basically the center of the Nine Realms (universe), life and death, and the tree Odin hangs himself from to gain knowledge. Its also the source of life after Ragnarok (end of the world), which is fitting.
The visceral reaction I had to this episode was very unexpected. I mean I figured we would lose Loki and felt prepared for it. But the way they handled it…I mean Loki finally got to the point where he deserved another shot at life but that growth is exactly why he will never get it. He’s terrified of being alone and that’s exactly what he is now - completely alone and watching from the outside. He’ll never see Thor again and Thor will never know what his brother did for everyone. Mobius didn’t get to say goodbye and didn’t get to know everything Loki went through to make the decision he made. He misses his friend and feels empty. It’s all so devastatingly tragic. The more I thought about it the more I started crying.
I liked how he took the advice of mobius, silvie, and his own ( from. The pie room ) to make this decision and accept this BURDEN of glorious purpose. Also , the TVA has been torn down and rebuilt before . That’s what you were seeing the the Void
@@zZParabellumZz that may be true in the comics, but since MCU Odin only lived to be 5000 years old, I very much doubt his father was billions of years old.
What a beautiful way of conveying Loki becoming the God of Stories. I love what they did, from him making the timeline into what seems like a representation of Yggdrasil, to him now being the antithesis to Kang/He Who Remains ( Loki being at the beginning of time aka the Gardener and He Who Remains being at the end of time aka the Winnower.
This was such a brilliant yet melancholy ending, Loki and Mobius both end up alone, Loki in sacrificing himself and with Mobius wandering the world seeking purpose. I loved it but it is really sad
The vines are the timelines. Basically, Loki became the true god of the marvel multiverse. He really gained the ultimate throne all along. He wasn't just a god anymore, he became a master of all scientific physics, with the understanding of magic to now understand how to control it. So basically, he essentially became all powerful.
Loki is my favourite MCU character by far and he has now become the most important character in the entire MCU, literally holding hit in his hands, he is the very center of it all, within "Yggdrasil" (or the Timeline-equivalent of it) Looking over his friends and family. Thor, Frigga, Odin...and probably his "sacred" self would be proud. He found his "glorious purpose", as the "God of Stories"
I wish we got to see just a little bit of Loki learning everything, but I love the idea that Loki became the Yggdrasil (especially since that implies Loki is the reason the Norse gods exist in the MCU in the first place, which is nuts) and this is definitely both my favorite Disney+ Marvel show by far and probably aside from maybe Guardians 3 my favorite MCU project since Endgame.
I really needed a bit more info on how Loki just knew how to reignite dying time strands in the end. That came out of nowhere for me and the guys were also visibly confused what he was actually doing there, because that is all new abilities we never saw him learn. I mean moving yourself through time is one thing but just grabbing a time strand and pumping some green energy into it that magically does something to an entire universe is some top end of the addon skilltree stuff. I liked the general direction but that scene lost me a little by stretching my suspension of disbelief too far.
@@memento81 That's pretty simple to explain actually, Loki was made half Asgardian by a spell from Odin and Asgardians become stronger and wiser by aging when Loki stepped forth into the time radiations, he aged infinitly becoming infinitly stronger and wiser, multiplying is powers and knowledge infinitly allowing him to become a living loom who can scale to infinity hence giving life to Yggdrasil, the multiverse. Hope that help you understand, how and why, he was able to do what he did.
@@memento81 We saw Odin cast the spell on Loki ( I don't remember in which Thor movie ), Asgardian anatomy is well known in the comics ( Older version of Thor are always the most powerful and wise ), Loki outfit changing as he witstand the time radiations is there to indicate that it's what is happening to him. @@Fairbranksthecat it is just not an earned skill, something he learned to overcome the obstacle. He is just given this wide and random feeling ability that solves the plot problem by happenstance, not something he did. On a narrative level that is just crappy storytelling.
Loki has become the God of Stories. Like the scarlet witch, there’s only one in the entire multiverse, and they are not born, but made. Loki’s arc is what made him into this being that is on the same level as The One Above All; he can now rewrite reality as he sees fit, he can “rewrite the story”.
There are multiple scarlet witches, they’re a nexus character which means they’re all essentially the same seed in every universe. You’re thinking of America Chavez maybe? She’s the one there’s only one of.
@@jaideepshekhar4621 I don’t know what you mean. I’m talking about the scarlet witch from the main universe, and the one from the Illuminati universe. They might be aspects of the same character but they are different. Meanwhile America has only one copy
I don't think they will give him that much agency over the situation and it would just be too bonkers. Loki could recruit an infinite number of Thor variants to hunt down all the Kangs
Loki is now burdened with glorious purpose to quite literally hold an infinite multiverse together. He is allowing every multiverse to live by grasping it to never let go effectively making the ultimate sacrifice. Loki is now the god of stories. Its an infinite realm. He's leveled up, can time slip anywhere, time no longer has hold on him. Also the TVA knows all about all the kangs, thats why they said they were watching the variants. They simply acknowledge that one of them got out of line and was dealt with. Thats the ant man one. BUt they know all about all the other stuff from the line that they were watching to variants. Sort of a ... hey you can do your war or whatever, but dont fuck around with the time lines or the TVA because you will "find out" Also he who remains know about the time slipping and he knew that he would have to kill sylvie, so they could keep the sacred timeline. But thats the thing. Thats the game they were playing. Loki looked at the board with the equations, and he said, fuck that imma change the equations. Change the game, so He who remains did not see that coming at all. He just knew that he'd live cause the only way to do it would be kill sylvie. He didnt account for extraneous factors, such as not playing the game that was set up for him. He changed to a totally different game that was unforseen by he who remains. I also believe renslayer seeing the seal of the TVA at the beginning was the same as when loki went there, I believe that that seal leads underground where they were all hiding. It was clearly not the TVA or a destroyed TVA or anything like that. Its the planet at the end of time, and the glowing effect we saw on her was allioth.
He who remains planned it all his final step was manipulating Loki into becoming the loom Remember he who remains doesn't have partners and he knew Loki would never kill Sylvie It goes back to season 1 episode 6 when he said he paved the road He set Loki to for in love with Sylvie so that in the end Loki would be forced to take over In the end he who remains beat his Kang variants by putting Loki in charge meaning no other Kang variant will become He who remains
Loki essentially has become one of the most powerful beings in Marvel but is burden remaining at the end of time keeping the timelines alive. Loki always wanted a throne but finally got it when he didn't want it. One of the most developed characters in all of Marvel. Loki won't age. Kang/He who remains was just a human scientist and lived for eons at the end of time. The writers wanted this version of Kang to act a lot like willy wonka. A very powerful person who got tired of doing what he is doing and looking for someone to take up his mantle. Loki essentially did what Kang wanted except he destroyed the loom allowing the multiverse to grow and prosper. Now there are branches connecting into other universes. The events of this show basically explain why the multiverse even exists for the MCU. I love this show because its not necessarily important to know the exact reasoning for why the multiverse exists. But its nice knowing that Loki is the one responsible and the one behind the curtain holding everything together and giving the universe a chance.
Loki began by claiming he was ‘burdened with glorious purpose’. Now he has accepted to accept his glorious purpose as the God of Time, but it is a great burden, not a prize. Thor once said “You will always be the God of Mischief, but you could be so much more”. He has achieved more than anyone could have guessed, but none of his friends and family in Asguard will ever know. Excellent finish to a great series.
The whole Loki turning the time streams into a Yggdrasil type tree seems to me to be a perfect metaphor for the new TVA. If you think about it, after a tree grows it is constantly changing throughout the seasons. Leaves, fruit and flowers grow and die and are constantly reborn. Such as the timestreams could be viewed. Branches of time are born, they grow and most inevitably die only to begin again. The thing that remains constant however is the trees roots. Which in fact over time begin to run deeper and strengthen. I think the fact they showed the tree with the top being purple and the roots green tells us we will in fact see Kang again, as purple is of course his colour. However the roots are green to of course represent Loki. Who will have to see to it the purple Kang branches and flowers of his tree are properly maintained and trimmed accordingly.
Loki, by his words, has always wanted the throne, he always felt to be in second place. Now he doesn't want a throne but to stay by the friends he made. In the end he got the biggest throne of them all or as 'He Who Remains' says, "the big chair"
He created the tree of life, like in North Mythology, allowing for the infinite multiverse to exist while also still protecting his friends. He got his thrown, and he's alone.
Loki became the 'loom' but without the scaling problem, seeing Yggdrasil was amazing, truly one of Marvel's best series. Also this loki had one of the best character arc, his transformation scene got me emotional.
I really like the performance and writing of Loki in this episode, especially towards the beginning. I love how even when he's being really pushy and seemingly distant or even disaffected due to his growing omniscience, he's still so nice to everyone around him because he genuinely cares about them.
my interpretation is that loki's version of temporal loom is in form of tree as a tree can have infinite branches and this way people get to keep there free will And it hurted my soul seeing loki at the end of time "ALONE" that too when he had mentioned in the previous episode that his biggest fear is being alone .
Me too! It was a great catch! I love how Loki series has been almost self-contained. Very little pure fan-service cameos and credits scenes. The easter eggs, especially for S2 and very much so the finale episode, were all details tracking as far back to Thor 1. But they aren't there just for fans to catch. These are details that felt truly woven into MCU Loki's life and journey. Like how his simultaneous glorious & tragic ascent to true godhood, kinghood, and heroism revolved around the line "BURDENED with GLORIOUS PURPOSE"
I think “what happened” is that Loki essentially used his new abilities and powers to become the Loom they were trying to build. Destroyed the Loom, therefore destroying the Failsafe that would reset all the NEW branches (that were created once Silvie killed HWR) and just keep the Sacred Timeline. And the danger of this was that it would unleash a Multiversal War with Kang variants fighting for dominance and destroying everything like HWR’s backstory implies. We see this happening as all the branches start to “die” in the finale. But I think Loki is ‘weaving’ the various universes and timeline to at the very least exist without destroying themselves for now.
Love the parallels between Loki and He Who Remains at the end of season one by the "centuries later" bit. Both are completely knowledgeable of the current events down to the second.
I'm having trouble dealing with the facts that Loki said what he wanted was to not be alone, and it didn't say he would return in the credits. 🥺 Amazing show. Wonderful ending. The past 12 years with Loki have been great. Gonna miss him if this was his permanent ending.
I cried for loki, because he had such good character development. He worked so hard to save his friends because he didn't want to be alone and in order to save them he ended up alone
Loki is now technically the oldest living god in the MCU! And maybe this is why the TimeStone is green!! The "time tree" at the end was also the Yggdrasil tree from Norse Mythology! Loved the Norse vibes of this episode, especially his outfit ❤❤❤
I’m so glad I went into watching this finale knowing that Loki also becomes god of “stories” - it saved me so much confusion and made this episode so freaking epic.
the ending when Loki gets the throne once he finally no longer wants it is sch a great full circle moment, and immediatelyt took me back to when him and Thor were fighting on top of Stark Tower in the Avengers
Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think that Loki would have become my favorite MCU character, but DAMN! This show easily solidified that fact for me. Loki popping back into the room right as Victor scanned his head was definitely a nod, and knowing what I know now it gave me chills. Loki, the God of Stories!
What hit me the hardest at the end of this show was that this was Loki's end of his character arc. At least I hope it is. I don't see how they could top it, they made him the God of stories like in the comics. Sad and very poignant ending. Hands down the best MCU show. I hope the changes they've made means we get more great stories like this ( this is the first MCU show that hasn't had reshoots).
This series shows why when the MCU is at their best their the greatest comic book franchise of all time. You can’t just ignore this franchise after Endgame and say well marvel can’t do better than that. Phase 4 and 5 isn’t perfect but they have great projects that gives you hope for the future 💯💯
Absolutely. I've liked far more of it than disliked it but I think where it falls down is that it feels unconnected and directionless as a whole. The thing with a show as good as Loki is that it doesn't really detract from the quality of the show itself if the MCU itself is an unsatisfying mess at the moment.
The best thing about seeing Loki sitting on his throne outside of time means that for the entirety of the MCU, Loki has been sitting guard as the heart of Yggdrasil keeping all branches alive.
If this is the last that we'll see of Loki, I'm ok with it. It was a bittersweet but satisfying ending, he redeemed his himself and his actions from past movies without having to d!e. What an absolutely perfect character arc for Loki. Like literally everything led up to this and it was perfect. I was speechless when this ended. Truly one of the best things the MCU has EVER put out. Bravo to everyone involved in making this show, especially Tom Hiddleston.
Loki the series was a great mix of MCU, Terry Gilliam’s Brazil and both seasons were a better Doctor Who story than the entirety Chris Chibnall’s tenure (not a high bar to clear but still). Loki the character has one of the best character arcs of any Marvel character. Kudos to Tom Hiddleston and the various writers and directors that have given the MCU version such a wonderful Journey (Into Mystery 😉)
I love how the last thing Loki says is “I know what kind of God I need to be, for you, for all of us.” Referencing his line to Odin in Thor one before he falls off the Rainbow bridge “I could’ve done it Father, for, for all of us!”
A somber, sad but satisfying ending. We need more series and movies like this coming out of the MCU to re-hook the people that have been lost over other MCU movies that have not performed as well as Marvel may have hoped. 15:32 Loki became the starting point, he is at the beginning of time whereas He Who Remains is at the end of time.
100% agree. Loki and Wandavision are the only 2 shows that felt like they had a fully planned out concept and were executed beautifully. both shows are also the most unique out of the bunch, Loki having a retro futuristic vibe and wandavision being based on every era of television. we need more of this from Marvel, not their usual formula which has grown tiresome.
Idk if this right but I think He Who Remains is dead and loki created something new. HWR had a plan for loki to take his place and forsee the sacred timeline but loki went and destroyed the loom so now a multiverse can exist.
@@chinmayudyavarThe multiverse has always existed, it’s not like the sacred timeline was the only universe. Like HWR said in S1E6, he isolated the ”sacred timeline”, he didn’t destroy all others.
@@Sozscimitar I was pretty sure he did. Isn't that what he used Alioth for? I was in the mindset that he did destroy everything except for the sacred timeline and then loki season 1 happened in which he died allowing a multiverse which is why spider-man NWH was able take place. But then loki season 2 tells us that the loop is stopping a complete multiverse from forming because it is still deleting the unwanted branches (and with good reason otherwise there will be a lot of spaghetti), but without the presence of HE WHO REMAINS because he is dead the loop will always fail. And now loki has taken the burden, however it is not to watch over just one sacred timeline but all of them, a multiversal watcher if you will. God of stories indeed. Sorry for the overload of text, it's just that this episode was so good and has made me really excited to talk and theorize about marvel again.
"I might just wait here for a little bit, let time pass." Perhaps the best words to conclude Loki's journey. It might be the end, Or it might not, But for now, let's wait a bit and appreciate that we've had the chance to experience this.

This finale gave me Heaven Sent vibes with how he’s just repeating the same thing over and over. And hearing Beethoven at the start immediately made me think of when the Doctor was explaining the Bootstrap Paradox.
TRULY INCREDIBLE. This was one of those things where you go like "Will there ever be something this good again?". It's almost bittersweet watching the episode because it's so mind blowing, and you will never again watch it for the first time. The opening scene, the finale of the second season being not just the obvious glorious purpose, but more amazingly, the burden... both emotionally with his friends, (his respect for Mobius to go to him at the very end), but even carrying the timeline to the throne. Just amazing. The (somehow) even greater ominousness of HHR despite the same exact scene that was amazing to begin with in the finale of Season 1. And the comic book like visuals, the ending scenes, his suit turning into Loki... so much respect for Disney and Marvel, the writers, Tom Hiddleston, Owen Wilson, Jonathan Majors and everyone involved for this.

@@LouBirdwell, he kinda stopped he who remain and gave others a chance to do like him "do something different" to prevent a new Kang version becoming he who remain in multiversal war. Wandavision is still my favorite, but Loki is a close 2nd
He Who remains also said the variants were already out there too.

Loki the roots (start) of the tree, and He Who Remains’ purple leaves at the top (end)

I don't think they will give him that much agency over the situation and it would just be too bonkers. Loki could recruit an infinite number of Thor variants to hunt down all the Kangs
I wonder how avenger secret wars is gonna turn out
Loki is now burdened with glorious purpose to quite literally hold an infinite multiverse together. Sort of a ... hey you can do your war or whatever, but dont fuck around with the time lines or the TVA because you will "find out"
Also he who remains know about the time slipping and he knew that he would have to kill sylvie, so they could keep the sacred timeline.
He who remains planned it all his final step was manipulating Loki into becoming the loom
Remember he who remains doesn't have partners and he knew Loki would never kill Sylvie
It goes back to season 1 episode 6 when he said he paved the road
He set Loki to for in love with Sylvie so that in the end Loki would be forced to take over
In the end he who remains beat his Kang variants by putting Loki in charge meaning no other Kang variant will become He who remains
I shed a few tears for Loki
Loki ending up like Atlas as he holds the branches alive for all eternity is beautiful and heartbreaking in equal amounts
He got exactly what he wished for and exactly what he deserved:
A throne, all alone, for all time, always. A great burden of his glorious purpose.
Loki, by his words, has always wanted the throne, he always felt to be in second place. Now he doesn't want a throne but to stay by the friends he made. In the end he got the biggest throne of them all or as 'He Who Remains' says, "the big chair"
From the shows premiere Glorious Purpose, to the shows finale Glorious Purpose. It was an Orobourus all along!!!
Loki literally carrying the entire multiverse on his back. This finale, and the whole series, was absolutely fantastic. Peak Marvel!!!!
my interpretation is that loki's version of temporal loom is in form of tree as a tree can have infinite branches and this way people get to keep there free will And it hurted my soul seeing loki at the end of time "ALONE" that too when he had mentioned in the previous episode that his biggest fear is being alone .
12:06 I actually didn't catch that foreshadowing. Loki shows up and the PA system says "Welcome, He Who Remains".
Woah!
Same that was so cool when they mentioned it
yup!
It was a bit of a wink but he arrived just as Timely had his head in the machine
Loki has ascended from minor god of mischief, into a primordial deity of stories/time
This ending fits so good with Loki's quote from first Avengers:
Loki: "There's no stopping it. There is only the war!"
Thor: "So be it!"
I like how the Loki writers pretty much wrote an episode of Doctor Who
I'm having trouble dealing with the facts that Loki said what he wanted was to not be alone, and it didn't say he would return in the credits. 🥺
Amazing show. Wonderful ending. The past 12 years with Loki have been great. Gonna miss him if this was his permanent ending.
I cried for loki, because he had such good character development. He worked so hard to save his friends because he didn't want to be alone and in order to save them he ended up alone
Also I like the theory that Loki is now at a “second beginning of time” and Kang is still at the end of time on opposition with one another
"CENTURIES LATER" Will be a new meme because of Loki, this show is unbelievable
the fact that he was introduced as a villiain and all of a sudden, he's "Loki who remains" is just insane.
"I am Loki of Asgard, and I am burdened with Glorious Purpose."
Yes you Loki, yes you are
Loki is now technically the oldest living god in the MCU!
Mobius echoing "Let time pass" at the end suggests Loki hears everything
the ending when Loki gets the throne once he finally no longer wants it is sch a great full circle moment, and immediatelyt took me back to when him and Thor were fighting on top of Stark Tower in the Avengers
Tom Hiddleston's performance in this episode has finally made me admit that the fan cast of Tom as Doctor Who would be perfect.
"I am Burdened with glorious purpose" became "My purpose is a glorious burden".
Loki finally found his glorious purpose. Such a great character arc.
He, who remains know that, cause in season 1 he said to Loki "I'm tired". Loki is the replasment< new worler of guarding the multiverse
If this is the last that we'll see of Loki, I'm ok with it. It was a bittersweet but satisfying ending, he redeemed his himself and his actions from past movies without having to d!e. (*ahem* Tony and Natasha) The cinematography and the score were absolutely beautiful. Overall, it was [aggressive chef kiss]
...
But also I'm a little bit selfish.. I want to see Loki back on my screen again :( I miss my mischievous green loving boy already :(((
It’s not the last we’ll see of Loki, but it’s the last time he’s the main chatacter
@@mohzayd1234 That would make sense! I'll just be happy with seeing him again, even if it's for a few seconds/minutes 😄
I NEED Thor/Chris Hemsworth and Loki/Tom Hiddleston to have a reunion before the studios, directors, writers, and the actors decide to retire the characters. I don't want to wait decades later for some BS de-aging or AI
@@jakeDgirl Same! I despise AI and the whole de-aging shenanigans! (I don’t know if it’s true) but i’ve heard that Chris Hemsworth was taking an acting break to spend time with his family (which is totally valid) but also I really want Thor and Loki to reunite 😭 “the sun will shine on us again, brother” I want this to be a reality!!! I just know Thor would be so proud of how far Loki’s come!! 😭😭 Even it’s just a 5 minutes short, I would be able to rest knowing that they’ve reunited 🥲
Tom Hiddleston would’ve been amazing as a doctor for sure
It's similar to the Peter Capaldi time loop sacrifice episode.
Still can be 👀
I loved it. Easily my favorite episode of any MCU show.

Loki became the starting point, he is at the beginning of time whereas He Who Remains is at the end of time.
@@TheeWandaStan Yeah, both were great to watch.
Sorry for the overload of text, it's just that this episode was so good and has made me really excited to talk and theorize about marvel again.
i feel like Loki's become a kind of Heimdall, seeing all through all time. absolutely stellar series.
"I might just wait here for a little bit, let time pass."
Perhaps the best words to conclude Loki's journey.
It might be the end,
Or it might not,
But for now, let's wait a bit and appreciate that we've had the chance to experience this.
20:55 i think loki will spend eternity looking over the multiverse sort of like the watcher. Doesnt feel time, doesnt experience anything, he is just living within each multiverse seeing all that is happening from afar
This finale gave me Heaven Sent vibes with how he’s just repeating the same thing over and over. And hearing Beethoven at the start immediately made me think of when the Doctor was explaining the Bootstrap Paradox.
Yea same here man. Plus I think Tom Hiddleston would be a good Doctor.
Oooh good call
