Thank you for this, I'm going to try this on my old iPad3 that I gave to my 87 yr old mom to play games but now won't hold a charge even when plugged in. This is a cheaper alternative to buying a new tablet that honestly are too much for her use.

To remove the battery I would suggest heating up the backside of the ipad (with a hair dryer) underneath the batteries before prying them loose with the spatular tool.

Thank You! I bought the iFixit kit with battery, and I'm going to try this tomorrow. My battery swelled up, so part of the glass is already coming off. Everything works so far, so its a swollen battery.
Thanks i fixed my ipad now i works and i got all my old photos back i however had a hard time working backwards i would recommend adding out to get it back to its normal statr

It is because you damaged the ribbon cable to the digitizer.... this video was missing a lot of important information with regards to removing the glass screen there are a lot of areas you have to be careful when prying up the screen or you will damage the ribbon cable or the Wi-Fi antenna or other parts. There are other better TH-cam videos that show you what to be careful of..... in much greater detail.
