Thank You!! This just saved me from buying a new iPad. My iPad was trying to restart and kept crashing because the battery couldn't hold charge. I took it to the Apple shop, they told me it is a hardware problem, that I should buy a new one for $500+. I bought a new battery and followed your steps It works perfect now! only $30 to fix. A tip, when taking the battery out, use a plastic spatula or plastic flipper to get under the battery. Amazing! thank you so much for this video, you guys rock
That IS NOT a glued screen!! She's holding it down while pretending to separate glue that isn't there. I can promise you it is NOT this easy to put a pick in there and slide it down. Watch the video carefully. At all times she's inserting the blue pick, she's pushing down on the screen to hold it there.
Thanks, great - very easy to follow video, allowed me to change out my knackered Ipad3 battery for a working new one, took 20 min from start to finish, I used a very thin wallpaper scaper for getting the final battery out, just made that last push so much less hassle.
Hi Gwen. I do miss MJ but you're doing a fantastic job so thank you. Just one thing though, would you mind telling the director that the repetitive tune is difficult to listen to for ten minutes. Thanks
thearoom apple makes by purpose to put the battery waaaaaaay inside their products. It makes things difficult to replace. Why the batteries on ipad and iphone are not easly removable like on Samsung products??
steve Tash you're talking rubbish! Not easy at all for iPhone I did it but not easy an android is just taking the back off and replacing without glue and tiny screws/plugs etc donut
Nice video. I found, however that I was able to remove the battery without removing the MB. I loosened the MB and was able to lift it enough on the battery side to slip the battery connector off the alignment peg. It is safer to remove the MB, of course but this worked for me. Also the battery glue is very strong. I started by lifting the bottom 1/3 portion of the battery after heating the back alot. Good luck! BTW, my iPad now will charge to 100% much more quickly now.
Excellent video, could do with some more close ups though. Time and patience is key to this. I did find that you don't have to remove all the ribbons from the board before removing it, just undo the 4 screws and you can lift it enough to remove the battery. I also broke the seal on the glass with a scalpel blade and removed the battery with a butter knife. Pretty risky but do able.
I'm so happy to see you working on electrostatically sensitive parts without even mentioning the use of an ESD kit. How many devices have you potentially destroyed with your ifixit videos?
Looks so easy in the video, but the spudger is soft plastic and dulls quickly making it difficult to pry up the glass. Mine cracked before ever getting it up high enough to get a pick under it 😬. Highly recommend you have a new digitizer panel ready cause I can’t see getting this off without breaking the glass.
Apple want users to keep buying their ipads, etc, thats why they make repairing them difficult. However, with patience and practice it does get easier. I have repaired two screens so far and I am going to replace the battery in my ipad .
So my girlfriends ipad battery swelled and of course, stopped working. I bought a new battery and installed it before watching this video, the only thing i cant seem to figure out is the little ribbon wire that comes from the cover. it pulled out of the location it goes to and i dont know if i am getting it all the way in or not. Regardless of the wire, the ipad will not come on at all, it wont show life when i try to charge it either. Could the old battery swelling have dont something to the rest of the ipad?
What about adhesive for the battery I seen tons of videos and not a single one says anything about adhesive and haven’t found it for sale anywhere they have them for iPhone but what about the iPad should I just get the one for the 6+
Idk if its because of battery life or what but my ipad 3 is veeery slow and barely openin YT video anymore... I have read about when battery is exhausting the speed is decreasing. Is it true?
Props lady! --not breaking any glass!! I like the long microwave heat pad thing. Now can I make one of those? Luckily I play guitar--this takes lots of picks.
It looks to me that the iPad, by design, was never meant to be opened again. So if Apple claims they can't verify state of battery-life (less then 50% or not) because damage to the glass prevents them from applying their measuring-method, then that is just so much hot air and bad excuses not to uphold their applecare protection plan battery-change guarantee, yeah? Answering this would really help me as I'm filing a lawsuit against them to have them replace my iPad due to it's battery having run it's lifespan.
My ipad 3 is charging very slowly. Like 3% only per hour. Is the battery the problem? I bought new cable and adapter but it's still bad. It became faster for a short time, like 6%, but now it's back to 3% per hour.
shinyeon23 the charge controller built in the lithium ion battery recognizes how low the health is, and is trying to prevent any further wear by reducing charge speeds. A new battery would help.
why did you replaced the battery again? Does this help fix the ipad not charging error? I got an Ipad 3 that even when connected only shows the battery with very low charge icon will this procedure help? Thanks.
Hello. Thank you for this very helpful explanation. I am about to make the change of the batteries of my Ip 3, but the lid is inflated, I think a battery almost exploded. Do you think my IP will turn on again despite this battery that has expanded inside? Thank you for your attention. Yours truly 👍
How do i know if my ipad need a new batt.. ? I mean like expired date of the batt?? Or just change if i found my ipad doesnt work anymore? How long will the batt last ?
Replaced digitizer & battery (not from iFixit) and everything seems good except battery is at 5% after many hours of charging. Is this some kind of a calibration issue or did I just go through all of this simply to install a defective battery? How do I differentiate between the two cases? Unhappy if the latter is the case. If the former is the case, how do I force recalibration.
August Pamplona Quite frustrating. After doing everything right another thing went wrong. The digitizer developed a small crack right through the the middle of the front facing camera area. After I had put it back together, I felt of it and it did not feel like the digitizer had completely adhered along two small sections so I tried to reapply heat and force. It either happened when I heated the upper part of the digitizer or when I pressed down on it with my fingers (I felt nothing unusual with my fingers so heat stress is possible). I don't feel that it should have cracked with no real displacement being involved and no sharp forces (much less due to uneven heating).
No shit! I can't understand why they have the camera on the girl while she is describing what you need to do, instead of just showing you while she talks! This video is idiotic!
I absolutely refuse to work on these things. I build and repair computers but I absolutely hate working on small items like this because my fingers are pretty big.
Saludos...…… excellent and professional video, my battery was working fine but when changing the broken glass, by mistake in the handling disconnect the "connector" from the battery but now when watching your video or tutorial I realized my error, I already connect it and it works perfectly ... thank you, I love you and I want to marry you ... Greetings from Mexico..
it would have been better had we seen the full video.....the old battery coming out and the new one going in...….and the final connections/install of what I gather was the wifi section??!!..
¿Anybody who has done it could tell if it's safe to do this? I've done something similar to this just to change an old iPod battery and an iPhone one, too. I don't know if it's not too risky to do on an iPad.
I play piano as well so I have these huge banana hands. I really love the iPad though. It is a great tablet. I have this model. I don't consider myself someone that must have the latest and greatest in a tablet. This is a great tablet though. I have the 64GB version.
FYI: not that easy to remove from the original bcos the double-sided tape is really strong, u will broke it easily, cos i have done it before. I change my back housing case.
Lot of ipad battery replacement videos on utube but noooooobody says where to buy the new battery!!!! I checked on google and i didnt find any official places to buy new ipad battery... mystery....
Great video! ...and, Apple has lost me on account of their arrogance in the design of the ipad.. They DON'T want us to change the battery, simple as that. They can stick their ipads!
this makes zero sense...Apple will replace your iPad that has a bad battery for $99. Why would you buy a tool kit and a battery and do it yourself? You end up spending about $99 and YOU do the work. Ridiculous.
Well... there are people with abilities and some without. There are some who like to do stuff with their hands and some that pay others to do that stuff. Jason Coleman, people come to YT because they are DIY's or to pick information.
Thank You!! This just saved me from buying a new iPad. My iPad was trying to restart and kept crashing because the battery couldn't hold charge.

I'm convinced I won't be changing my battery!

Those blue picks would be perfect for use as a bass pick
using alcohol also helps in loosing the adhesive
Just don’t drink too much or you’ll start seeing double!!
HI IS IT SAFE TO PUT IN MICROWAVE OVEN?
Thanks, great - very easy to follow video, allowed me to change out my knackered Ipad3 battery for a working new one, took 20 min from start to finish, I used a very thin wallpaper scaper for getting the final battery out, just made that last push so much less hassle.
its a wonderful opening video. it would be great if a video of adding new battery and placing the adhesive
I would like to see you put it back together....lo
She is lovely,i could watch her all day
Hi Gwen. I do miss MJ but you're doing a fantastic job so thank you. Just one thing though, would you mind telling the director that the repetitive tune is difficult to listen to for ten minutes. Thanks
you had me at "spudger action".
To bad you can't just remove the back and avoid all that stuff. It's like doing heart surgery from you back.
Shame on you apple.
thearoom apple makes by purpose to put the battery waaaaaaay inside their products. It makes things difficult to replace. Why the batteries on ipad and iphone are not easly removable like on Samsung products??
Beg to differ but
iPhone batteries couldn't be any easier to replace.

Android donut?

Used own the ipad 3. At the time it was a marvel of engineering. I could feel and see the quality. It was heavy tho but I didn't care. It special.
the lady keeps smiling if its nothing. this is a hard and not easy job.
ROTF
because she is thinking about being a youtube celebrity.

perhaps a line on the pick to delineate the furthest insertion points (beginning side, wifi side etc.)...
What about adhesive for the battery I seen tons of videos and not a single one says anything about adhesive and haven’t found it for sale anywhere they have them for iPhone but what about the iPad should I just get the one for the 6+

My iPad charge but no green thingy in when u put the charge it doesn't go green
Props lady! --not breaking any glass!! I like the long microwave heat pad thing. Now can I make one of those? Luckily I play guitar--this takes lots of picks.
worked great! saved a lot of money. worst part was getting the battery unstuck from the case!
Hello i bought an ipad 3 battery 🔋 but i replaced in ipad 4th generation is that ok?
yousef okasha yes if u wanna use ur ipad as a frisbee

Apple in their dellusion, still believes they own the ipad you bought. Luckily we don't accept their BS

Great video. Followed this and replaced my battery without any problems, many thanks!
I know this is an old video but WOW I just love it! Thanks for such a great video!
why did you replaced the battery again? Does this help fix the ipad not charging error?
I got an Ipad 3 that even when connected only shows the battery with very low charge icon will this procedure help? Thanks.
*****
actually i just needed to stack charge the device. Had a high speed usb charger and after I left it connected for a while it came back to life.
esesolox3 high speed cable ?? I recommend just using the iPad charged Apple gives you, a lower Walt charger for the iPhone would take forger
How do I get rid of fanger prentts off of the LCD
You give us great information n knowledge n I have followed your tips for many iPhone repairs n its really helpful. God bless you
@Chris O'Halloran

How do i know if my ipad need a new batt.. ? I mean like expired date of the batt?? Or just change if i found my ipad doesnt work anymore? How long will the batt last ?
Mine lasted 6 years until wouldn't charge. I followed this video and replaced the battery, its like having a new ipad.
Replaced digitizer & battery (not from iFixit) and everything seems good except battery is at 5% after many hours of charging. Is this some kind of a calibration issue or did I just go through all of this simply to install a defective battery? How do I differentiate between the two cases?

I think u are doing a great job i like it alot
Very nicely done btw.
Thanks! I successfully replaced the defective battery on my iPad!
can we get a video with a 100% shot of the iPad the whole time. I don't need to see this lady I need to see WTF she is doing lol.
No shit! I can't understand why they have the camera on the girl while she is describing what you need to do, instead of just showing you while she talks! This video is idiotic!
Same
I agree
Well, she’s hot!! So that helps some
she loves herself that’s all...they didn’t make this video to help you...she wanted to be famous;)
i'm gonna get me some parts and have a go at this :)
you' re awesome, and your voice looks like a good music combined with this smile. :) greetings from Brazil.
the problem on my one is when I press the home button it doesn't turn on
Aaaand I just cracked the hell outta my screen. 🤣😂🤣 Oh well, I’ll try to get this battery sitch figured out first.
And all of that just because Apple doesn't want to have a removable back
Well that didn't age well
Very good video , but such complex repairs are only to be attempted as a last resort .
Wow it look like she trying to defuse the boom. ha ha
Thank you so much ^_^
Cutest lady who would have replaced the ipad battery herself.
finally a "clever" and cute lady not the usual one able to speak of makeup and Primark's houls
Helpful, the music in the background is horrible.
Thank You

How easily she opened it ???? How how how
without heating it up its bull crap... you need heat in order to release adhesive.
Got any ideas lacking any microwave, visit someone with one?
Does this make it so the iPad doesn't have a battery, it just is alive forever? Or am I stupid. Sorry if I said that self insult.
what if it explodes in the microwave?
Explodingtnt would be relieved.
MERCI
You're talking at the wrong end just buy a new one so wasted time trying to fix and I never worked properly afterwards
Norman Parker probably cause you didn't use anti static tools.
I did not fix it.
The key points should be to avoid damage to the ribbons connecting the digitizer and the led, yet this demo barely hints at their location.
Yes they did watch it properly
it would have been better had we seen the full video.....the old battery coming out and the new one going in...….and the final connections/install of what I gather was the wifi section??!!..

They want you to throw the old iPad away and buy a new one! There's no way I will try this at home. :-(
the worst part is if you see a air bubble on the screen (inside)
If this help s your a Genius. Did not help at all they want me to ruin it. To get a new one !
I play piano as well so I have these huge banana hands. I really love the iPad though. It is a great tablet. I have this model. I don't consider myself someone that must have the latest and greatest in a tablet. This is a great tablet though. I have the 64GB version.
Next up youtube brain surgery.

I used apple juice to clean my lcd.... now it's all sticky & shitty....wtf?
She's cute
The background music is so repetitive and annoying
dont understand why she feels she has to film her face more than the ipad. is she trying to get noticed or something?
Lot of ipad battery replacement videos on utube but noooooobody says where to buy the new battery!!!! I checked on google and i didnt find any official places to buy new ipad battery... mystery....
How could you not think of Ebay????
hairybeefman eBay ffs
Or im gonna by a samsun its cheaper and same shit sad for apple think jeyre special or some ...
Wow what a process for a battery ... Apple 😑
Great video!
...and, Apple has lost me on account of their arrogance in the design of the ipad..
They DON'T want us to change the battery, simple as that. They can stick their ipads!
I broke my iPad
Keep the camera on the ipad we dont wanna see your face dang
Lol wtf apple im gonna just buy a new ipad its the same price as buying an akku and all that shit and trying to replace it
cute beby
''I love my iPad, I love the freedom it gives me'' ...blind iSheep, Apple doesn't give you any freedom
Lousy demonstrator! She talks a gazillion words a minute!! You are making a how to video not a talking contest!!
Well if a woman can do it........
Stupid device. Just to make the builder make money.
this makes zero sense...Apple will replace your iPad that has a bad battery for $99. Why would you buy a tool kit and a battery and do it yourself? You end up spending about $99 and YOU do the work. Ridiculous.
tool kit is $5 or less and battery is $20. this ipads are years out of warranty about 6 idk what you talking bout
Jason Coleman It's fun to fix things. Do you work on your car?
The battery and kit is far less than 99 bucks and when your done, your ipad is with you no silly shipping!
Well... there are people with abilities and some without. There are some who like to do stuff with their hands and some that pay others to do that stuff. Jason Coleman, people come to YT because they are DIY's or to pick information.
fake, that ipad was already opened. it's not easy to release the screen and the battery. it's much harder than what she shows.
this stupid. shame on apple .. no more apple products for me !!!!!!!!!!!
