I struggle most with critical listening as I tend to believe anything people say to me. However, I have been working on this skill lately by attending a 101 class on critical thinking. It's been so helpful and I believe I think better now. Regarding other types of listening, I'm not the best either but I'm still learning.
Thanks for making informative and scientifically based videos! Keep up the hard work!

Very informative stuff! I find that I use different listening for different situations. For instance, empathetic when I need to pay attention more to HOW they say something than WHAT they say. But sometimes need to just have comprehensive listening when I'm being told something I need to remember. Good stuff!

Thanks, Mike. I'd love to talk about learning to use two cameras more effectively in terms of white balance, exposure, etc. Seems like slight differences at the beginning required lots of tinkering afterward to make it look close. I have some ideas but would love your get your tips.

Thank you for even thinking about making a video on 4 different types of listening! No wonder I've had a hard time listening effectively in certain situations... the listening required when I'm talking to friend is not the same as listening to an instructor and vice versa.

Glad it was helpful, Val. I'm glad you're enjoying the videos. I have to other videos suggestions (they might overlap a bit with these but they'll still be helpful). 1. Is the Active Listening Skills video I did a few months ago, and the other is the Empathetic Listing Skills video. They both will give you another round of exposure to these ideas and help make you a great listener.

Sir, have been watching a number of your video postings. Like many other who have posted comments, I too am taking a class. Listening and communication are upcoming soon. I am doing my own due diligence in this are outside of class and beyond our textbook. My comment is towards the end of this where you state your Practical Applications. I feel if you chose to update this video at a later date that you are encouraged to mention uplifting other persons. By that I mean to uplift persons who are in the background so-to-speak and are left out at times of recognition. The immense gratitude by uplifting those persons and validating their contribution is immense. If I can boldly ask you to create a video ghosting other persons in a business or personal setting. I would like to see how you approach this very important and relevant topic.

    Coach,
Emerson said, ‘Everyone is my superior in one way or another and in that I learn from them.’
I say, ‘I love to listen to other’s fun stories enough to ask appropriate probing questions.’
I listen to learn, to show respect/love and share joy.
Of course, I only listen to stories about Family, Occupation or Recreation - FOR.
G-D hasn’t blessed me with enough time to listen to things that don’t matter.
And there is little that matters more than the people around me at each moment.
But, I am also a big fan of Will Rodgers, 'Everything is funny when it's not happening to you.'
And it is even better when I can help those around me find 'funny' in the hardships in their lives.
G-D didn't promise us an easy life. He only promised to help get us through the hard parts with blessings on the backside.
Uphill is hard. Downhill is easy. Oh, well. Might as have 'funny' as long as you're on the road.
    Chris

For instance, empathetic listening when I need to pay attention more to connect or emphasize emotions of people. And sometimes need to be appreciative listening when I'm being told something I need to remember which it has no pressure on me....✌🥰

It depends on how you slice it. The four in the video are four common ones but there are others. Sometimes, they might take one type of listening and break it down into smaller parts. But, the answer is, it depends. There's no one right way to explain them.
