  • Media Molecule's Dreams takes the LittleBigPlanet creation formula and blows it wide open, allowing you to create (on the flatscreen and in PSVR) art, animations, music, and full games then share them with the world. Pretty crazy, right?

I could listen to him read IKEA build instructions.

Seriously, though, Ethan should be doing voice work.

Amazing review y'all! Tectonic was made on 2 base ps4's, making VR games on it is doable, but don't expect to do most of your logic in vr as displaying too many wires and microchips on screen is going to push you back into flat screen mode. Of course it looks very blurry once you add up too many sculpts. Sculpting with the moves in VR works great and it's amazing to see and hold your sculpt like a 3D printed toy!

In my humble opinion, as a mostly PC gamer who also plays consoles, Dreams is by far the best and most unique showcase of what people can come up with through imagination and creativity. The best of the playstation community are in Dreams.

Dreams really helped get me out of my artistic funk. I made some recreations of movie scenes, a complete explorable zoo and some sculptures. Now I find myself excited about creating again.

Wow I had Arcade Game Construction kit on my C64. I also had, Boulderdash Construction Kit, Traz and Shoot 'Em Up Construction Kit too. Yes they don't compare to dreams but I loved and still love them fondly. ;-)

      Actually, I still do!

Great review. I loved the experience of VR in Dreams, but was on original PS4 and the blurriness was hard to create for a long time. I’m a day one PS5 owner and I literally just put on vr once, to check the adapter worked. So I haven’t even tried it really on PS5. I need to play some more. I only made about 3 games made specifically for VR in Dreams. But it’s hard when you put in the work and there doesn’t seem much of VR community in Dreams and not many people play your game (but could say the same about the 2D games nowadays and I don’t stop making them lol)
Hopefully eventually when online multiplayer hits, things will get better.
Had some idea for VR that I might have to get once and for all 👍🏻

I agree with the sentiment: "Dreams is the single greatest thing made for consoles." It is amazing to see how creative developers are in this tool kit, and it is the greatest vr purchase I've ever made.

Finally! Hi-five on bringing up AGCK and all the excitement and creativity that it brought to the table all those years ago. The power and limitless possibilities that Dreams gives us is astounding, and adding PSVR into the mix honestly leaves me wanting for nothing else, even after sinking countless hours into it. I'm a kid again but this time I'm literally inside my imagination that I can almost touch and visiting worlds I never thought I would. Thank you Media Molecule, Dreamers, and thank you PSVR Without Parole for this great review!

I am so addicted to this. I've been playing since the Beta in December 2018 and I only ever played through like 2 or 3 on other PS4 titles since then. I'm constantly improving and working on a major project and play around with some other side stuff when I'm loosing steam on that. There's always new Ideas and inspiration and things I want to try. It's so enjoyable to have such a powerfull tool for creativity at the ready. And in the meantime there are so many enjoyable games in Dreams. It's super fun for me to browse through them at times and discover new little gems. What's most significant for most of them is since they are often developed by single persons or small teams, you really can feel the passion shining through the rough edges a lot.

nice to see wargarble in here. i still remember when he wasn't really well known in the community back then but his work really caught my attention right from the get go so i kept following his work. really cool to see him being loved by many from the community nowadays, much deserved.
i wish i still had the urge to create but i kinda lost that spark but i still love to keep up with dreams as a player and that's fine 🙂

I think its just a way to keep track of how much experience you have in Dreams based on the different categories. When someone clicks on your profile, they see the level and the categories you specialize in. I think once multiplayer/more collaboration accessibility releases, these numbers will begin to make more sense. When it comes to "hiring" people for colab work you can base your hiring standards based off this information. If you are trying to create a high quality experience, would you want to "hire" someone who is at level 10. Or 100? I personally would want the 100 person cuz they have a better chance of being more comfortable with the tools. (Im not saying this is the only standard I would have, but among other things, I think this will help with stuff like that.)
Plus people like to see large numbers. lol It kinda makes Dreams more gamy in the sense that you might sort of compete with other people on what level you are at. That is just human nature lol.

After watching this i went and bought the game (cant believe didnt know about it before!!)....4 days in and i have just finished my first game! its just a simple tv only platformer (JOJO's JOURNEY) but i have been so impressed with this game (software) and cant believe how user friendly it is! I have tried unity and unreal engine and basically failed epicily and have struggled to produce anything! I've just started work on a VR horror game which is going to be set in woods and church crypts with secret society, witches, and ghosts (not to give too much away haha) shall let you know how progress's

Honestly I’m waiting for someone to try making a Saw style escape room VR experience in Dreams-and make sure people use the move controllers-because before you start the final section-you have to cut off one of your limbs and have to navigate a tricky final section with the use of only one limb.
As long as it isn’t too bloody and maybe have you solder the wound or maybe have a unique style where the blood isn’t red I think it could work.
Hell they could even make the story fit into the lore of the Saw films but keep the title completely original while bringing up Jigsaw and John Kramer.
Honestly if I had the patience to try to make it I would do it myself-if I had a friend nearby that was into this sort of thing they could help me make it and that way we could go back and forth trying to get it together.
Alas that’s not going to happen unless someone else comes up with the idea….

I've been learning the Doom map creator. It's simple enough. Some of the custom maps are also soooo good. You see, I want Dreams but I know I'll most likely never play another game after as once I learn how to create on there I'll just endlessly do that or just play other peoples in between doing so. I have a whole bunch of original music I can already out into anything I make on there. I think I'll get it, but maybe tackle a few other games first.

Dreams PSVR support is much better than it has any right to be. It honestly has the potential to deliver content much higher in quality than 99% of the official VR games you can purchase in the store. The main problem for myself and other creators who are capable of dishing out such content is that it doesn't pay off, as making a quality game still requires a ton of work like any other engine, except you don't get paid for it.

Hi! Thanks for the video ! Was thinking of buying dreams for my psvr using standard PS4 as it seems like your getting loads of games and experiences free rather than having to spend on more titles - wondering though if the game graphics would be as good as in your video ? Also do you know if the dream experiences have to be streamed or downloaded and does it use a lot of data - I mean how much data would this experience use roughly ? As I only have limited data . Cheers
