Hi. Thanks for this great video. One question though; I dont have any Blueprint brushes showing up or any to choose from. How can I fix that? ( noob here, been figuring out UE5 this last week, after months on Blender and some Roblox Studio noodling).
When I click on the imported Landscape , am I supposed to double click on it? If I dont do so, I don't see a "Landscape" drop down menu or heading on the right. If I do double click on it (I have version 5.3) a separate box opens with a "Details" and "Layer Parameters" tab. Also after the original migration from EasyBuildings a message "Landscape 1: Actor with Physical Materials needs to be rebuilt". When I try to resolve by clicking "Build Landscape" I get 3 error messages. They are "StaticMeshActor_1 Large actor receives a pre-shadow and will cause extreme performance hit unless bCastDynamicShadow is set to false." and "LandMassBrushManager_C_0 Large actor receives a pre-shadow and will cause an extreme performance hit unless bCastDynamicShadow is set to false". Update: I tried starting from scratch and creating a new file but as soon as I go into Landscape mode it says "Landscape 1: Actor with Physical Materials needs to be rebuilt"

When all the assets are set as Right click/Asset actions/Bulk edit via property matrix/Static mesh/Body Setup/Collision Complexity ->Use complex collision as simple and dropped one by one then they have collision. But even in this state when painted there is no collision.

Heya! Love the videos. Im trying to add extra materials to the landscape material... i almost got it but the grass meshes are spawning on top of this new layer. how do i disable this?
When I use the landmass tools it creates an inverse pyramid instead of a normal one, tried inverting from the details tab also, no luck, seems to be a bug with the blueprint, anyone else experienced this?
Everytime i try and change the landscape material to what you do it turns into a cloud material. Its the exact same name as yours i followed what you did 5 times. Everything is still invisible, or blending in with the sky?

Great tutorial! Does anyone know why the contrast seems to get really bright when all of the trees are placed? I even made it sunset and when the player spawns the brightness just keeps gradually increasing until it appears to be noon.
Great tutorial! For some reason, however, after creating a landmass using the CustomBrush_landmass brush, I cannot edit it with the other sculpting tools. I wanted to be able to smooth some zones out and make a beach, etc.
Terracing seems to have a very strong reversed effect for me (UE 5.1.1) Maybe it has something to do with the fact that I used Open World, deleted one layer, right clicked and selected clear sculpt for the remaining layer

@@WilburKentucky7734 Thank you!
@@WilburKentucky7734 hero!
i couldnt find the custom brush landmass option
go to edit at the top left > then plugins > then search for landmass and click the checkbox to enable it. then restart or reopen the project
At 9:59 I do not have the same layers as in the video. I have none, in fact, cannot apply the layer slope. Can anyone tell me how to make it appear? Thanks
Bro this is the best Tutorial on earth. helps so much
Heya! Love the videos. Im trying to add extra materials to the landscape material... i almost got it but the grass meshes are spawning on top of this new layer. how do i disable this?
Can somebody help me, i dont have the CostumBrush_landmass thing. How to i get it ? 2:29
go to edit at the top right of the engine > then plugins. and enable the landmass plugin
@@SmartPoly thx so much !
what if i wanted to add a series of lakes and rivers using the same plug in, how would i go about doing that?
I don't have any 3D grass on my landscape, any fix? It's just 2D
Edit fixed: Move the Landscape Terrain Slightly
When I use the landmass tools it creates an inverse pyramid instead of a normal one, tried inverting from the details tab also, no luck, seems to be a bug with the blueprint, anyone else experienced this?
I actually dont see the land mass at all, even when i go to adjust the falloff still no pyramid appears
Thank you. I learned a lot from your tutorial.
Everytime i try and change the landscape material to what you do it turns into a cloud material. Its the exact same name as yours i followed what you did 5 times. Everything is still invisible, or blending in with the sky?
i'm also having this issue, did you figure out how to fix this?
Is there a reason why moving a spline point doesn't update in real time? I have to switch back to the actor itself and move it to get it to update
I have that problem as well
Lol. Already having issues. 2:40 when I click on the landmass with the brush it doesn't give me a pyramid design it's more of a glitched through the floor below any ideas? I am very new to Unreal Engine so any helpful comments are more than welcome. Thanks!
You need to enable the plugin called Landmass. Go to the Edit tab in the upper right then find the plugin option, search for Landmass in the bar and it should show up and ask you to restart.
Edit: You probably already found it but just trying to help.
I am having the same issue
HI there smart Poly, I'm having some problem in my indie game, can you help?
Issue: I'm making an open world game (using UE5 and world partition system) everything seems to work fine but then I added a mountain using the landmass tool, after that when I try to load the whole map the mountain isn't loading sometime. (its in separate landscape layer) the map isn't that big only about 2km square.
So what am I doing wrong? Can you please point out the mistake I'm making.
Cant get any grass when selecting MMLStylized_Landscape please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
what do you do when it wont let you drag the spline points for the island using "ALT" my keybinds are different then yours is there a setting i can refer to?
This video was an instant subscribe!
When I put my LandScape material as "Mi_stylizedLandscape" it just puts a grey, dark foggy map instead of the green.
How do I fix it?
( UE 5.0.1 )
its supposed to be like it
@@Max.nudkebruh From him it looks green but even after I do the steps he did at "paint mode" it still looks foggy and dark.
I can see anything under "layers" option in Paint - landscape mode.
I can only see it if I select mm_stylized_landscape but it has no texture.
The easy building system won't open it keeps stopping at 45%.Can someone please help.
The shaders take like 45 minutes to an hour to load and it’s at 45%, that’s why it won’t go past it
Can you paint a different material using a spline?
Also: distribute rocks and trees using a spline?
18:33 problem I don't see world settings
I got stucked at 3:28 because my software it's not showing the spline points
Great tutorial! Does anyone know why the contrast seems to get really bright when all of the trees are placed? I even made it sunset and when the player spawns the brightness just keeps gradually increasing until it appears to be noon.
use post procees volume and lock exposure
Yesterday I was angry that UE5 basically bricked my main level. Today I am glad, because I found this video I will use to design a much better level.
Great tutorial! For some reason, however, after creating a landmass using the CustomBrush_landmass brush, I cannot edit it with the other sculpting tools. I wanted to be able to smooth some zones out and make a beach, etc.
Dude, but how do you add more landscapes? Like in Ue4 you could add levels, and make the map HUGE.
Terracing seems to have a very strong reversed effect for me (UE 5.1.1)
Maybe it has something to do with the fact that I used Open World, deleted one layer, right clicked and selected clear sculpt for the remaining layer
I'm having a similar issue. My terracing is reversed and I can't seem to find any way to fix it. I'm on 5.3.1
in layers i cant found the layer slope and the grass... pls help 9:35
my Unreal Engine Version is 5.0.2
