Once he said masterpiece it clinched this purchase for me. They had me at ICO but Bryan kept me hooked with masterpiece.
For that guy to make all this by himself is truly amazing but having just lost my mom last year, im not sure if this will help or make it worse so ill wait on this one.

Dam...thought seperation came out today!? Its not in US PS store as of 6:45pm EST...when is it coming to US store?? I was hoping to buy it on my lunch and play it after work today 😭
This is going to be my first day one purchase in a very long time. Excellent review, and as a bonus I learned a new word, poignant, to add to my vocabulary.
Played it for about 3 hours this evening and man I love it so much. Great atmosphere and sense of discovery. On of PSVR's finest games so far.

Wow. This monumental praise already had me on board, but the reveal at the end that it's only thirteen bucks makes this a true no-brainer. Can't wait to dig into this.

Just finished the game this morning, absolutely loved it!! So glad I purchased this right away, well worth the $12.99 price. I would even say a $19.99 regular price would have been more than fine for this. For those who haven't tried this excellent game yet, please do so and support developers like Martin Wheeler who obviously put a lot of hard work and time into it. Also make sure to rate this game on the PlayStation Store if you own it already!

The Last Guardian VR demo made me upset. Upset that it gave a taste of being immersed in a Fumito Ueda world while also remaining just that, due to current hardware. Based on this review, I can already tell this is going to provide the full Ueda experience.
If it only took one person to make this, I can't imagine the journeys we'll be taking when Dreams gets its VR mode. Meanwhile, I'll gladly take offerings like this and Paper Beast when it arrives.

I haven't played Witness, but ICO & Journey were pretty much the closest thing to a perfect game for me. Honestly I put away the headset for a few months due to scarcity of titles that would pick my interest. This might easily overcompensate :)
@@EmmsReality gotta agree. before VR, I never really cared about multiplayer in games. In VR, I actually enjoy it

This seems like a nice relaxing game. Seems like most psvr games i have are action based and/or stressful. Might have to give this a shot.
Your comments put me in mind of 'Rime'. That in the end turned out to be about death and loss too but not PSVR. Definitely one for my wish list. Thanks for the review.
I totally get your fascination for this game (Yin and Yang I guess) - going to most certainly pick this one up to experience it!
@ Everbody: The guy who made the game has released lots of music under his alter ego "Vector Lovers". It ist mostly IDM/Ambient, but without these drumnbass/breaks-chunks known from AFX or Squarepusher. My favorite tracks: Tokyo Glitterati, Melodies & Memory, Crash premonition. But he has loads of great stuff.

Makes me think more of Shadow Of The Colossus than ICO since you're on your own in an appearently big empty world. (Yes, Wander had Agro, but that's not like having another human around)
If I could play Shadow of the Colossus VR, I would be sooo happy.
I have to say this experience is pretty great. The world is huge and the dev has completely achieved what he set out to do. My only complaint is that the puzzles do not seem to have a rhyme or reason. Especially the ones where you are to "leave no light unlit" I can not find a pattern that is logical and has only passed one of them now by pure luck. Am I missing something here? Thanks for this awesome first look Bryan. Now that I have played the game I went and watched all the way up to the part where I am. Unfortunately watching you does not help me solve that puzzle in this case. LOL
I think I did 2 of those puzzles on my livestream - the first one i did in literally 2 seconds and the second one was a whole lot more trial and error. Damn dude I wish I could help you out

Just finished this last night. I can't believe one dude did all this, even the music! This game is far better than a game by a single dev has any right to be. There are a few minor control annoyances but apart from that it's pretty damn great, especially for the budget price. I just loved taking in that lonely atmosphere, but it still gives you something to do with some pretty interesting puzzles. I for will be keeping an eye out for what Martin Wheeler does in the future.
Whoa this looks exactly like my cup of tea! And as for the mentioned inspiration, Ico and Journey are two of the most memorable gaming experiences I've ever had!
Looks great. Its got a few small issues like click turn and the constant white dot, but at least with it being ds4 only we can utilize the 360 degrees of tracking on the headset and rely less on the turn buttons. Looks like a buy for me
Good point about 360 turning. For me though this was a game I wanted to curl up on the couch with under a pile of blankets and play through from beginning to end. Standing might have ruined some of that sweet sweet blanket love. Or... whatever. Lol. :D

Click turning is almost a deal breaker for me but since it got such a high score I might check it out.
It's usually a deal breaker for me too. That said, there's a smooth turning patch coming soon so if it ruins the first few minutes of Separation for you I'd say just hold off a week or two and wait for the update. :D
I didn't want any spoilers so I only listened to your review. Hell yes I am getting this game.
I think the review is pretty spoiler-free. There are so many cool moments I could have included and made the review more interesting to watch, but I'd prefer everyone to experience those moments for themselves. :D
@@WithoutParole That is what I mean. I literally did not want to see the game in action at all until I play in in the headset. I want the first time I set eyes on this game in motion to be in VR not on a flat-screen. Your audio was enough to convince me that this will be epic. Thanks as always Bryan.

You got me excited for this definitely going to pick it up ! Specially after a long day of work sometimes the last thing I need is a game that gets my heart racing, I just want to put on the headset and chill sometimes.

I would totally recommend that! knowing Jeremy lately he would probably beat it in record time. Some of it was a little rough like finding the parts for the snowmobile...
Ugh that snowmobile section drove me crazy.
Plus the map is so blurry it's practically useless compared to the non-VR version.
Any idea why i dont get ur videos im my sub box anymore? For months this has been happening
It sounds fantastic but I might wait till the article is removed from the screen as the feeling like I have to point the helmet to make this work breaks immersion for me immediately and makes any game feel like I'm playing it with my neck. Putting the torch on the move controller seems like an obvious improvement to be patched in.
For that price, perhaps I should just get it now to support creators who are releasing content like this in advance of the patch.
Reminds me of the Myst/Riven games in ambiance and style... similar type of game to those?

There's an option for smooth turning now, but it's pretty slow. So you might still want to use click turning honestly
I’m not a puzzle fan, I just like action but do love a good story more this has. How are the puzzles., difficult?
There are one or two that stumped me for a bit, but you should be able to breeze through most of the game. :D

Hmmm, you might just need to make a North American account then. It's super easy to do and you can charge up your NA account with gift cards from play-asia.com and plenty of other sites. You might find some other games on the NA store that weren't released in your region too!
The Yang to Xing’s Yin?
Is it really "eeco"? I've always said "eyeco". Fucking loved that game and eagerly await a remaster.
Lots of people say eyeco, but waaaaay back when ICO was first revealed in the pages of EGM, they actually said "this new game ICO (pronounced eee-co)" and I've remembered that ever since. But they've been wrong before so who knows? :D
I just finished the game, and my rating went from 7 about midway through the game, to a solid 6... then by the end of the game it was “I hate this game!”. It’s definitely not my style: very slow walking speed (at max speed), with lots of ground to cover & little to see; clumsy boat controls (I kept bumping into everything); there were 2 bugs in the game where I thought I was stuck, checked an online walkthrough, only to see that I did it right, so I had to reboot & redo (worked the 2nd time); that hot air balloon just didn’t fit-in with the style of the game; multiple endings (3), and each felt like it came from a completely different game imagination... and those were the high points :)
This is why I feel okay about not enjoying Paper Beast when everyone else does. We're all different and we're all going to have different opinions about different games. I'm bummed you ran into those bugs though - it sounds like I got lucky.
PSVR Without Parole : Exactly. Fortunately, there’s far, far more VR games that I love vs those that I don’t. As for the bugs, they were both near the end. 1) after I collected all souls (sorrows), I went to the location on top of the building where all the released souls gathered in a circle, but nothing happened. After a reboot, poof, that elevator came down as soon as I re-approached the soul-circle. The 2nd bug was shortly thereafter when I was down in the dungeon-type room. I did everything I could, but none of those oval-shaped doors would open. Then I watched the walk through, rebooted, et voila, as soon as I walked towards the door, it opened. Oh well, at least I was able to finish it.
Unlike my experience playing Solus, which is still one of my all-time favourite games - I got all the way to the end where you have to teleport into the volcano, and I died... repeatedly. I tried everything, watched every walk through and even tried contacting the developers (who unfortunately never responded), so I couldn’t finish the game. That said, I still loved the experience so much - what a great game.

Looks very similar to Eclipse:Edge of Light?
It does look similar to Eclipse on the surface. But where Separation is an open world, Eclipse is like walking down one long linear corridor. Exploration in Separation is always rewarded and the imagery and music was far more effective (to me at least) in this game. Plus Eclipse was really short. :D

I also find the music jarring but this channel has the best, most concise psvr game reviews than any other TH-cam channel. I have never been let down once by his reviews and if I have to listen to 6 seconds of annoying music then so be it!
