- DISCLAIMER: The purpose of this video was to show silly/good/interesting mechanics. I don't think Smash Ultimate is actually broken, it's just the name of the series. Don't take this seriously.
Thanks for watching, this video took so much time to compile, but I'm glad I got it done before 2019. There will definitely be sequels to this as time passes and more broken mechanics are found, tweet at me with #BrokenUlt so I can make it faster (also Sm4sh is Broken is coming so use #Broken4). I also changed the text to top instead of bottom in order not to cover percent. Tell me if you like it.

The reason there's no detailed patchnotes is because Sakurai does all the changes in a drug induced fever dream and therefore does not know himself what has changed.
Alex Bright Sakurai isn’t a part of the balancing team this game, so he probably engaged in a drug-induced fever dream right before he was supposed to review the prepared patch notes to decide what’s important to share to the community.

It was way early to make a 'smash ultimate is broken' video tbh. Feels like this might as well have had a different title/been it's own series just looking at how much has changed.
Luigi's throw combos were patched, chrom's up b suicide always kills him second now, samus and dark samus were discovered to also be exactly the same along with other echos mentioned. Simon and richter are gradually drifitng lower in people's tier lists and are generally considered low mid tier. K rool's belly armor isn't that hard to play around and his character isn't anywhere near as oppressive as people thought he'd be. Incenroar's counter is powerful but not really oppressive or even that strong. It's kind of like pointing out how strong a fully charged g&w oil panic is. We have patch notes now! It took...not very long to get them lol. Pichu ftilt was patched. Inkling IS very good and her run animation is very strong, but grounding moves are mostly bad. Turns out mashing is easy folks.
I'm pretty sure the framing of this video was meant to be a little clickbaity. And you can tell some people had a negative reaction because it has 2k dislikes. This stuff is all mentioned in the sequel, smash ultimate is broken 2. But it's still pretty awks seeing as almost twice as many people have seen this and not the next one.
@@Chickenman161 I don't think it was too early, per se. Considering this wasn't his first Smash is Broken video, I wouldn't call it clickbait. All those downvotes are the result of people taking it too seriously, when the video is pretty clear he didn't think the game was broken, but was just pointing out the jank. I'm glad he did, because I didn't know about, for instance, the fact that Simon and Richter were ever considered playable characters.

@i hate reading I see Chrom being played a lot more than inkling. Also, I have a deep and historical connection with the Fire Emblem franchise. As a Roy main, personally I don't quite get why you'd pick him instead, unless you want a faster Ike with Dancing Blade or just play him because of who he is, not because of his strengths.

They do want to make a solid game at that most glitches in this game weren't useful or positive anyway, the Bucket Glitch essentially invalidates any character with projectiles to an extent. The Item Glitch was the only good one but it's logical to patch it out before someone does it online

Lvl 9 cpus are way better than most online players, aside of their recovery (they suck in that) they’re a tough MU, that frame perfect reaction is no joke
@@wolfdragox5563 I partially agree with this, their reaction/punish game is ridiculous, but they often SD or up b at random times. Depends on the character too, DK is absolutely crazy, but Ice Climbers are pretty stupid

atleast pichu still has all his frame data and damage, just lost a (broken) ill option and given more self damage for some god forsaken reason. this means pichu is still highly playable, just not full on S_tier anymore

he couldn't L-cancel all of his aerial attacks, his full shield didn't cover him at all (at least lightshielding was a thing in that game), his spotdodge had almost half as many intangible frames as vulnerable frames...

ie: Link can’t rely on his projectiles to win that matchup because all of his lose to Belmonts’.
Thunder Wolf Wyvern I don’t think Belmont’s main strength lye in just spamming projectiles but rather using his whip to control the stage, and the way the opponent maneuvers around the stage.

It’s the DLCs
After watching "Smash 64 is broken" and "Brawl is Broken" this video is hilariously unbroken.
The most broken thing I think got missed
If Villager pockets Isabelle's F-air (just the slingshot pellet), passes it to Isabelle to pocket, Isabelle passes it over once more, and then, when Villager takes out the pellet again, the game INSTANTLY crashes. Works on version 1.2.1.
I tested that with a friend a couple days ago and it looks like it got patched.

Also, you didn't touch on the glitch where you choose a skin online and for some reason when a match starts, they change you to the default skin. This happens to me so much.

I'm really happy with just how balanced the game feels. Smash 64 had Pikachu, Melee had Fox, Brawl had Meta Knight, 4 had Bayo, but in Ultimate there is no completely broken character which is amazing.
mean, Smash64 is quite balanced as well, with PIka having a couple of near-counters like Falcon and Yoshi, but yeah
Most of the characters have a character that can counter them. Having trouble with Pichu than counter with the Belmonts.
Having trouble with the Belmonts than counter with King K Rool or Incenaroar. Having trouble with King K Rool and Incenaroar than use Snake. They all have an answer for them

Level 9 AI has extreme input reading, and even at lower levels, the computers will STOP FIGHTING ONE ANOTHER TO ALL GO EDGEGUARD YOU. Legend Spirits are a godam nightmare when it's 1v4 against max AI.
In brawl level 9 cpu will just attack you most the time if you have lower percent

How about not losing your spot in line when you want to change characters, check the rules, and change the music in arena mode. And while we're at it, how about a training mode option while you wait in line so you can warm-up.

Im so glad someone else pointed out this bullshit, to add on to that why cant i spectate after changing my character? Sometimes people start their matches before you have a chance to move your peg into line or character change so youre forced to no spectate for a few minutes

So many jank grabbable edges, points you can jump through, failing tether grabs, failed recoveries, incompotent stage makers, including sometimes falling into the stage, brutal lag & a crappy stage submission system.
You could definitely call it "Custom ultimate stages are broken" but I think a better title might be "Fix ultimate custom stages".

The only good thing that comes out of waluigi being an assist trophy instead of a playable character is that you can glitch as many waluigi’s as your heart desires (which realistically should be infinite) onto the stage

There’s a reason some echo fighters have minimal changes, it’s to capture different personalities using different animations. The Koopalings and Alph all use the exact same animations as their source characters, meanwhile Dark Samus acts completely different from Samus visually.

Richter's non-fire property is a moderately big deal in item matches, which have some significant relevance in Japan and in casual play, where 99.9% of players spend their time.

The harsh reality is that she IS a clone of peach, she wasn't even meant to exist in super mario land, that was more of a converted fan game where Nintendo forgot to take out the text that said daisy.
I'm happy they didn't bury her into obscurity though, and making a different personality helps.
I agree, it's sad that Daisy is just another set of colors for Peach even more so than the other echoes. She's been in so many games to use different properties from too.

@@blitzus5022 Ice Climbers up tilt beside Daisy hits her and pulls her in. Beside Peach, only one of the end hits hit her. Daisy is shorter but wider because of her arms being out.
Daisy's only difference is her slightly larger hitbox and different down-b knockback properties.

Inklings damage is a little silly and they have a great recovery and up b 1 sort of works like mellee shine not salty but they could be toned down a little

"Ultimate smash" would make a lot of sense in everything before smash ultimate but in smash ultimate it makes more sense to say final smash because we can safely say this is Sakurai's last smash game because we have no right to ever ask him for anything again. Anyway since we already wasted the name Final smash, Ultimate Smash is a great replacement.

If you are around 42%, it is a kill, but if used correctly it is also a kill, like using it next to the blast zone or next to a ledge to Spike somebody. This one can be teched, but the point remains: her final smash is one of the best in the games no doubt

King K Rool is just slow he has a good kit but the lag on his moves make him unviable in tourney (still a good casual character tho)

It's a reasonable complaint. A person's never played Smash before & they're expected to play as characters they hate while fighting ridiculous A.I. that reads their inputs just so they can get the character(s) they paid to use.
Also, most of the stuff that doesn't leave Japan is garbage. Same for most of the stuff that does leave Japan.

i dont know how good you are at the game, but after trying hard enough i found it pretty balanced (lvl9 A.I.)
I tried it out a few times and they don't even read your inputs all the time like you are claiming, often they do guesses to, like aerial dodges, even tho i didn't even attack them
Same for regular attacks, counters etc. they play super quick and know some dirty combos, but that's mostly it, high A.I just plays very good but is still open to counters, grabs and whatever
