I would love to see a category at EBR that would basically give competitors 3 shots to hit long range targets and that target would keep getting pushed out further and further and further till there was one last competitor standing. That would be the winner for the Extreme Long Range EBR Challenge for the year. Going year to year - it would establish records that could set an official bar of the longest range shot in competition. The Air Gun Depot Long Ranger is more of challenge vs. a competition. I would like to see EBR somehow fit this long range concept into their events. Great idea! Who should we pitch this to over at AOA?
This is some very impressive shooting! I love to stretch my airguns out there too, but 600 yards...dang it...wow. However I can't get over you pivoting your balance on the chair. Personally I find it so important to have a good solid position with my feet planted firmly. You pulled this shot off while keeping your entire body in balance aswell... Sir, you have my deepest respect.
HA! Great observation! The table I was shooting off of kept sinking into the soft ground so I had to shoot from a really bad platform with that horrible folding chair. I often shoot from a equally as bad folding stool. For these long ranges over 200 yards I have to go into the deep woods to find a spot to shoot 300-1000+ yards in the swamp. When the weather gets better I will be shooting at a local 1000 yard range where they have proper benches and prone shooting positions. Stay tuned!

Awake N Pissed 2.0 I bought my first air rifle about 8 years ago, a walther dominator 1250 .22. Such a fun gun and deadly accurate. Next will be the Texan .45. Between the .22 and the .45 I won’t need any other gun.
Congratulations that was a damn hard shot..... Shooting into the Sun and over water would still be hard with a powder burner. You would have to do some hardcore math but I would love to know how much energy that round had by the time it made it to the Target. I would love to see a future video on all the dope that you had to go through to make that shot.

WOW !!!!! i just subbed after seeing that shot with an air rifle, not many can do that with a regular powder gun let alone a air rifle,, with gun no deer are safe if they are legal to shoot during season, there is a bunch i would like to know about that type of gun,, i guess i,ll just have to [ hunt ] for it,
I understood the accuracy drops off after the 5th shot, I am guessing your shot dope needed to double per change. Did your spot weld change per shot on your cheek at 500 yards one click of elevation from the water hit should have done it. But the shooting accuracy looks pretty good for an air gun.
@@vargazzdlh check out the Airforce line. Lots of different models in a variety of different calibers. They have anything from a pistol carbine to the Texan .457. They are very much worth saving up for. I have the Condor SS .25 and love it. Supreme accuracy backed up with loads of power.
Thanks Dale.... When I post my videos I choose to show my full shooting session or at least most of them to include my "sighters". We learn more from "misses" (aka "sighters) than we do from someone just showing the end result. There are other TH-camrs that like to show their 3 shot clover leaf groupings at 100 yards, but they neglect to show their entire process of getting that zero'd in. The first shots in this video are just going off my Hawke Optics Chair Gun ballistics calculations given the estimated BC of the bullet I was shooting and my known velocity at the muzzle of that bullet and the yardage as confirmed by Google Earth. My windage readings were just a guess based off what I was seeing on the surface of the water and the vegetation. I didn't have that much mirage that day to help me guess the wind speed. The fact that I was able to get these initial shots landing at the base of the stump in the water JUST based off of a few pieces of ballistics data is really good with an air rifle at 600 yards. Remember that shooting 1 MOA at 600 yards is a 6 inch group. My last 4 shots were within 1 MOA - that IS consistent with an air rifle at 600 yards with around a 3 second bullet flight time to target. So if you see videos on TH-cam of someone showing up at the range - taking their rifle out of the case and shooting a clover leaf at anything over 100 yards with an air rifle.... They are full of it!

Take for example the 1250 yard video. I was amazed an air rifle could spit a chunk of lead that far in the first place. Now about moa. There are a few things you can do to improve you mechanical moa, but not much. Deburring you projectile is one. It will give you slim improvement. Also check your bore for any irregularities and lastly check your crowning at the muzzle. If you do these things it will improve your moa most notably at longer ranges. Using a seating tool at the breach may help also. The rifle has limitations. The shooter is only limited if he or she allows themselves to be! I think you are someone who does not accept personal limits. You are proving that by making these videos. Keep it up.
You are absolutely right! Your comment really got my thoughts going on this so I apologize for the lengthy response that is coming next.... You are right that wringing out every single bit of accuracy that is mechanically possible from these platforms is crucial. I mentioned it really quickly in another video, but those elements you mentioned have been tackled already with this particular rifle vs. a stock rifle. David Williams from Hunters Supply fire lapped - re-crowned - and added an actual lead-in chamber on this barrel. This gun went from AWESOME to AMAZING once I had that extra work done. I will say that there are other things though that I am going to cover in future videos are that are REALLY important. I will give a little preview though as it was one of the biggest AHA moments I've had since I started all this R&D with big bores and specifically the AirForce platform. That AHA moment was this.... In order to generate this kind of power to push these large pieces of lead a few things need to happen #1 more air through being pushed through increased pressures and different valve tweaks and / or #2 longer barrel lengths. There is also some what of a number #3 factor as far as the chemistry of the pressurized gas chosen (air vs. helium) but for the sake of mechanical consideration #1 and #2 are what we can do to really research mechanical solutions. So what I have found is that there is some "secret sauce" strategies we can apply. These strategies revolve around these long barrels - but it isn't just that they are long - thus creating higher velocities. That secret sauce of the long barrel strategy is a double edged sword. The obvious benefit is we immediately get increased FPS with a 34 inch barrel, but at 700-950 FPS the bullet is in the barrel a REALLY LOOOONNNNGGGGG TIME before it leaves the muzzle. So the negative effects on the accuracy of each shot is VERY MUCH affected by ANY kind of excessive barrel harmonics and the increased recoil you get with these larger calibers shooting larger projectiles. So in my upcoming videos I will be covering how suppressors and muzzle breaks help with these considerations as well as your shooting platform (bipod - bag - bench vise - etc). I am going to go out on a limb here and say muzzle breaks for long barrel big bore air rifles like the Texan are 3-4 times MORE important than they are for firearms / powder burners. At first I thought it was gimmicky when I saw companies like African Air Arms come out with a muzzle break, but now I think they actually may need to be a MUST HAVE accessory. Extra weight at the end of the barrel has a known affect on recoil reduction. So both a suppressor and a muzzle break will do this and from my research can decrease recoil anywhere from 30-60%. The fact that the bullet is traveling 800-950 FPS in the .308 Airforce Texan caliber with a 34 inch barrel vs. in a powder burner / fire arm of the same caliber at 2800-3000 fps - the reduction of recoil is WAY more important. That is where I came up with the stat of being 3-4 times more important. Stay tuned for that video - it is going to be a good one.
I consider my self a good shot and I don’t have the skill to make a shot like that. Your grouping was exceptional and I was super impressed when you knocked the ball off the stump. This is two theories when you set the ball back up and your rifle sat your u may have went from a hot boar to cold you said pressur was the same but I doubt a cold boar air rifle would bring your shot low enough to deflect into the ball. What I think happened is just as impressive if not more. If it was so calm that day and the sun was directly across From you and it looks that it was. Then you may have mistaken the reflection of the ball for it resulting in hitting both targets the reflection and the ball.

Your theory about bore temp is interesting and since these are air rifles (no powder being burned) - the only temperature change would be from friction of the bullet on the rifling in the barrel. I will point out though that the bullet hit the ball first. You need several of these guns since these damn tyrants are making it harder and harder to buy guns and ammo. Can you do a test with distance and accuracy on the Texan with a silencer?
I zero for 50 yards if I am hunting the swamps or 100 for the few open areas I hunt. Typically I do a 50 yard zero and then calculate my hold over with my Hawke scope since hold under always throws me off. 100 yards AT THE MOST for whitetail. I have learned the hard way that there is little to no blood trail with air rifles and unless you have snow on the ground it is a total PAIN to track. I tell people that hunting with big bore airguns needs to be treated like archery ranges plus about 30-40 yards for maximum ethical shots. My dad taught me to never take a shot over 40 yards with my bow. I would say 75 - maybe 100 with a clean broadside shot is the maximum I would want to take with a big bore airgun and making sure I can get on the vitals with 100% certainty.
Wow :) I kove long distance air rifle shooting, and i think this take the cake :) 600 yards. Here in my country we can have as strong airguns as we want, 4.5mm is legal if you are 18 years old....the same is 5.5mm but from that size you have to have a permit, and any hunting with airfuns are iligal here what so ever, im thinking on building my own rifle, i have problems with my muscles, so i cant use an heavy rifle :( and im no millionair, so its limits for me, but a rifle in 4.5mm or 5.5mm in pcp...i own some, if i build them up for long distanses, i might have some fun anyway :) i have thinked about Field target, but again my muscles dont alow it, so i have to shoot from bench...or have a bullpup or something...i have ordered a Hawke scope now, just to get use to them, and i have seen scope mounts that you can move, up or down, to enlarge the aim for long distances... i can try to hit out to 200-300 yards :) that would be awsome for me :) maybe one day i can afford an Airforce or something :) i live in Norway, so we can buy them FX rifles... expencive, but good...i dont know if they make big calibers? sorry for my bad english. No muzzle flash, reduced noise especially with the SS versions, lightweight.. Might be good for some quick urban combat sniper missions.

I zero for 50 yards if I am hunting the swamps or 100 for the few open areas I hunt. Typically I do a 50 yard zero and then calculate my hold over with my Hawke scope since hold under always throws me off. 100 yards AT THE MOST for whitetail. I have learned the hard way that there is little to no blood trail with air rifles and unless you have snow on the ground it is a total PAIN to track. I tell people that hunting with big bore airguns needs to be treated like archery ranges plus about 30-40 yards for maximum ethical shots. My dad taught me to never take a shot over 40 yards with my bow. I would say 75 - maybe 100 with a clean broadside shot is the maximum I would want to take with a big bore airgun and making sure I can get on the vitals with 100% certainty.

I kove long distance air rifle shooting, and i think this take the cake :) 600 yards.
Here in my country we can have as strong airguns as we want, 4.5mm is legal if you are 18 years old....the same is 5.5mm but from that size you have to have a permit, and any hunting with airfuns are iligal here what so ever, im thinking on building my own rifle, i have problems with my muscles, so i cant use an heavy rifle :( and im no millionair, so its limits for me, but a rifle in 4.5mm or 5.5mm in pcp...i own some, if i build them up for long distanses, i might have some fun anyway :) i have thinked about Field target, but again my muscles dont alow it, so i have to shoot from bench...or have a bullpup or something...i have ordered a Hawke scope now, just to get use to them, and i have seen scope mounts that you can move, up or down, to enlarge the aim for long distances... i can try to hit out to 200-300 yards :) that would be awsome for me :) maybe one day i can afford an Airforce or something :) i live in Norway, so we can buy them FX rifles... expencive, but good...i dont know if they make big calibers? sorry for my bad english.
