That's such a ridiculously hard shot, congratulations man. I think what alot of people don't realize is how difficult "groups" are. At 50 yards for example, if you shoot a bullseye and with all 5 shots connect within 1/2" from each bullet hole, that 1/2" is rectified to several feet at 1250 yards! Awesome!
As it was several feet at 1250 yards. :) I bet he might have tightened that up with a second smaller bag under the butt stock. I know I can hold a gun more steady with 2 bags. It was pretty windy. The water was quite rough.
@@UpNorthAirGunner that tru ,thats it the fact ,and hitting was een lottery ,you could do the same with a 9 mm para handgun ask jerry miculek .with a 300 wm or 338 lapua its not pure luck , its a nice airgun ,try boattail pointed bullets or cast them if not in the shop.
I used JBM Ballistics online to calculate the trajectory assuming a 920 fps velocity and a .165 BC. At 700 yards the bullet reaches a max height of 211 feet. The flight time out to 1250 yards is 7.2 seconds with an impact velocity of only 344 fps remaining. The terminal range would only be about 1840 yards. A difficult shot to make. I've shot a 51 caliber rifle (510 whisper) at 1050 fps out to 550 yards with a flight time of 1.8 seconds and an arc of only 13 feet. A piece of cake compared to your shot.
This is doubly impressive considering the haze, the mirages and the 10-15 mph crosswind. The tiny grouping of the bullets hitting the water's edge shows you have a great feel for windage. Well done.
Congratulations on your new world record shot...! I am very impressed by this shot, and not only that, I own the same rifle and now putting more belief in it's abilities.. It is a comfort as well.. I only stumbled on to this video while looking for information on the Umerex 20 guage new rifle.. This video made my day...!
What's incredible was the first five misses All were in a small group right there in the ice impressive shooting who knew airguns could shoot that accurately at those ranges
Bingooo !!! I was lost trust at the moment after u shot many times n thing not going done, but i kept waiting budy, n welldone, unbelieveable recorded zuper long range airrifle shot. Proud of u. Good job budy
My first ever PCP HPA rifle was the talon ss airforce Airgun in .22, I still have it and still is very accurate and impressive so I got me the pistol in .25 too
You should design one that uses all the air in one shot with a long barrel with holes in it for when the air to fire as it passes to speed it up more if it all can’t be released in the rear before it’s gone, I am thinking a long thick tube like a rail gun but with air, if that would work and have it in a vacuum by sealing the end of the barrel and releasing it somehow and design the rounds to catch the air? Like the end of the bullet with the inside hollowed out with curved slits to catch air and spin so it’s like a street cone with a curved fan in it like a fan and the bolt like a nice paintball gun that spins the projectile. I wonder if this could work?
My entire family is sniper trained. I have expert marksmanship ribbons for my military and police uniforms. My oldest brother was a Marine Sgt stationed at Quantico, teaching all the snipers who went to fight during Vietnam. We all watched your video and say holy sh¡t. 👍
Might be liability that makes them not do that. Im totally talking out my ass here and i havent even looked to see if there are 4.5k psi butt stock tanks on other rifles. Not that a catastrophic malfunction of a lower pressure vessel up against you processer box would be remotely more survivable but perhaps the incidence of such failures of the higher pressure vessels is higher enough that they simply dont want to risk it. Again thats a complete guess.
Back in 1971 when I first started shooting air-guns my Diana 4.5mm hardly reached 25 yards, then by 1980 I used my 5.5mm(.22) springer Chinese air-rifle to make my longest kill at about 80 yards and 30ft high. Then in 2008 I made my longest .22LR rimfire shot hitting a bird-sized target at 440 meters/481yards but I never thought someday an air-gun can be so capable to be used at over 1 kilometer. I'm sure with a Texan or a more powerful Western-Bigbore-Bushbuck I can reach 1300 or more, we'll see.
Amazing shot ! And folks don't believe I shot my elk last season at 1300 yards with one shot from a 308 I practice long distance shooting year round :)

The BC of a 128 grain slug in .457 losses energy too fast to be a long distance projectile. You need to be shooting something in the 350-400 gr. range.
Agreed! I am not sure how long this record will stand. It was sure fun getting there though.... Tannerite Snowmen at 100s of yards would be fun this winter. HA!

Chris, that bullet went through the lid also? If it did then that gun had enough power to kill small game at that range. Amazing.
What this shooter didn't tell everyone is how many gut shot Walleye and Northern he encountered on his kayak ride to check the target :P Seriously though; Props for endurance and your success for sure UNAG. Would be nice to see a new style of Airforce Big Bore on the market based on everyones modifications & accomplishments. Never shot better than 6" groups at 200 yards with an EBB .308 / 156gr / 3200 PSI tether but I'm working on it :P
Redrum Ya - I was just out there ice fishing last weekend and got skunked! Not a single bite. Need to find a different long range shooting location so I don’t screw the fishing up anymore. Ha!!!! Agreed about Airforce and I am watching the Shot Show newsfeed VERY closely on Tuesday to see what new innovations they come out with next. If I had a wish list it would be interchangeable Texan calibers - a 4500 PSI butt stock Carbon Fiber bottle regulated (and adjustable to 3500). Keep the 34 inch barrel but stiffen it with Carbon Fiber and / or do something about the barrel harmonics - ditch the dovetail and give us picatinny rail right out of the box to name a few! The beauty though of the Airforce line though is the ability to tinker!
Don't want to rain on your parade and congrats if im wrong but, to me it looked like a ricochet off the water, and it left a perfect side on impact. like I said I could be wrong but I don't think I am. but congrats !
One thing I would be interested in seeing @Upnorthairgunner is measuring how much kinetic energy is remaining in the round once it hits the target. I think others would be interested in seeing you do this also.
I can tell you that it was just enough to barley break through the thin gauge metal of that garbage can lid. The hole in the metal was more of a dent and the bullet barely broke through. The bullet also may have also been tumbling at impact as it looked keyholed or maybe it was just the severe downward angle when it hit that made that shape of a hole. Based on the few different calculators I use, it looks like I had about just a touch over 300 FPE at the muzzle when it left the gun and a touch under 70 FPE at the target.
Wow!!! You did it man!! But now try it at 2000 yards, over the lake again(compensating for rough windage..truly testing your skills).. but have target further inland!. going between trees and then smashing the target with bright smoke shooting up, to let you know you hit it. Dude, you make this shot, and all eyes will be on you🤨😉😁.
If you would have told me 10 years ago people were achieving this kind of distance with air rifles I would have told you you're a liar. Now I have an air rifle that hits as hard as a 22 rimfire that I can shoot in my backyard. It's amazing what they've done with the technology. Wait till helium becomes more popular and we're really going to see some innovation.
To answer your question about helium and how it affects velocity at the very same PSI - check this out: th-cam.com/video/bzZCklzNMc4/w-d-xo.html It is just VERY expensive! $100 to fill a tank that normally costs me $10 to fill.
UpNorthAirGunner How many joules? fps? Basically I feel like you've answered a really great question here brother but left even more up in the air. What is the stopping power after such a distance? I feel that's the fundamentals of any & all long range shots. Great shot bro. Now make it practical.
Hey there Joey - thanks for watching. Actually I answered these questions in a few other videos you should watch. This one talks about big game hunting considerations shooting subsonic: th-cam.com/video/rhB-0NlY8AE/w-d-xo.html and this one talks about foot pounds of energy: th-cam.com/video/pU_sKYP1FGM/w-d-xo.html Now - with that said, in my opinion as a long time hunter you should ONLY be shooting at big game 100 yards and in. Anytime you see me shooting beyond 100 yards in my videos, I am just playing with ballistic calculations - marksmanship - and basically bragging rights to hit targets at extremely long distances. To answer your specific question about joules of energy though - the bullet was traveling around 400 fps at the 1250 yard target (900 at the muzzle) so at the target with a 174 gr. bullet you get around 60 foot pounds of energy = 81 joules. So it went from a freight train of a bullet at 300 foot pounds of energy in the first 100 yards that can take down a deer (I took 2 this year with this gun), but at 1250 yards - you could take out a raccoon. HA!
Airforce...why not make .22 or .25 caliber like this one your shooting with? Would like to have one like this but either .22 or .25 caliber using 4500 psi tank.
I bought a Texan 457 about 2 weeks ago I shot it about 15 times I have an Airforce hand pump and have not been over 3000 psi now when I try to pump it up it's breathing through the barrel anyone have any suggestions
What pressure is it at now? Sometimes if you get below 1500 PSI or lower the return valve spring isn't strong enough to hold the valve shut all the way. Sometimes you need a hard blast of compressed air to close the valve all the way. Not sure if the hand pump will cut it. You could have a partner pull the top hat out and hold it (closed) as you pump so it seals. That might work. Step #2 unless you are trying to burn some serious calories - do yourself a HUGE favor and get a SCUBA tank or 4500 PSI tank and go make friends with your local dive shop.
@@UpNorthAirGunner thanks I talked to Airforce today I pulled the top hat out and it pumped up fine but you are right I'm either going to get a tank all electric pump but they want $1,200 for that so it will probably be the tank but thanks
Great shot👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻Water bodies have a stronger gravitational pull on projectiles. Though you should know in case you’re willing to go further out. Good stuff
up to 3.20 in, you had an amazing group at 7 oclock!! would have liked to have seen that on paper! It seems repeatability of hold is one of the issues..
Glad you noticed that! I was trying to calculate the MOA clicks on the ColdShot and also started using mil dots in the scope, but your right - I had a good grouping going there till the wind kicked up. I am also changing my bag and factory AirForce bipod to a Atlas 5-H wide stance bipod which will help with my hold. What I really need is a high cheek rest as I am about 5 inches off the bottle and basically resting my chin on the bottle to get a somewhat repeatable sight picture through the scope. After watching this video a few times and thinking about what I could have done different, I should have just brought the gong target down off that sand dune and put it right where the water met the shoreline where I was hitting so many times. I had that spot zero'd in nicely till the wind started gusting. I was literally holding 40+ feet for wind to the left when I moved the gong onto that stump. I know on a calmer day I could have hit is many time and many times in a row. That lake has 4 inches of ice on it now and I am waiting for it to get to about 8 inches of ice so I can take my snowmobile out to that island by crossing the ice and set the target up for a winter shoot. Stay tuned!
How do you like the .357? I got the .308 and I must be lucky because my stock gun can shoot .5" groups at 100 yards using cheap 165 (i think) grain hunter supply boat tails...I tried the expensive ammo and it just didnt work for me...The nielsen 111 gr were so so
I have found the .357 the least accurate Texan, but still a good 100 yards and in Deer rifle. Sometimes you get lucky and find a slug your gun likes. Stick with what works!
@@UpNorthAirGunner you know its funny that after 2 weeks with it when new, I was ready to send it back because I couldnt get 8" groups at 50 yards...Found out my scope went bad😂😂

up to 3.20 in, you had an amazing group at 7 oclock!! would have liked to have seen that on paper!
Stay tuned!
congrats bro! very nice...
Ouch. Those beeps were unnecessarily loud.
LOL! Sorry.
No problem, 😉
Very nice!!!
How much price thin air gun
If the barrel was in front of his scope, how did he see his target?
Luther Blaise at high magnification you won't really see the barrel
Wow gran disparo. Tu texan esta modificado?
