Wilwood Clutch and Brake Pedal Conversion - Firewall Mount Triple Master Cylinder Assembly

  • The manual shift conversion on the 1973 Mustang takes a giant step forward with the installation of the Wilwood Brake and Clutch Pedal assembly! The trick part that helps make the install a little easier for the home builder is the new Firewall Mount Kit from Wilwood, part number 250-13167, that helps locate the pedals in just the right position around the steering column.
    In this video, I'll explain how to measure and mount the whole assembly in just about any car. All it takes is a little common sense, ingenuity and light fabrication skills.
    The pedal assembly used in this application is the Forward Mount, 6.25:1 ratio, Adjustable Triple Master Cylinder. Part number 340-11295. www.wilwood.com...
    With this highly tune-able piece in the car, I can now dial in the driving controls to my personal taste. Plus, I wanted to not only convert the car from automatic transmission to a manual shift, but I wanted to make sure it was a hydraulic clutch mechanism as well. This unit solves both tasks...and looks amazing.
    After a lot of shopping around, I found a Lokar throttle pedal that worked perfect for this application. The pedal is designed for the earlier Mustangs but fits this setup well.
    Stay tuned for lots more videos to come and don't forget to subscribe and help share!

    I know this is an older video but it is still very relevant. I am putting this Wilwood system in a 66 Chevy II and was very concerned about the ability of the firewall alone to handle the wear and tear of actually driving the car. I appreciate the advice and the images of the support structures. It will help a great deal. thanks

    • @AutoEdits
      @AutoEdits  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Troy Dawson It was mostly due to the fact that I wanted the really cool Wilwood pedals in this car. By the time I added up buying a stock clutch and brake pedal and master cyclinder... this option ended up only costing $50 more (all in) but required more labor to fabricate the install and it is totally worth it! I'll let you know how the pedal feels after the system is bled.

    • @AutoEdits
      @AutoEdits  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's not hard to adjust at all. The trick is in the initial setup and the key is to set both adjusters about the thickness of a quarter from the inside washer so they are pushing straight. That way when you do the balance adjustment they stay in perfect alignment.

      Either fine tune the parts as described in the latter half of this video, or use the booster and separate cylinders in oem fashion. Basically just copy the oem setup, or go all in and hire a shop to basically redo your hydraulics.
