I know, it was crazy. I think what helped this time was using a ratchet strap on my transmission jack... it's the first time I tried that and it really made it easier to manipulate by holding the trans completely solid to the base!
I always get excited when I see you post a vid of Large Marge. Love the content and how you are upgrading everything, just giving me motivation to bring my old girl back to Life it's a 1971 Mach 1 she was my my first car in High School and I still have her.
One of the reasons we carry Tilton product including the 6000 Series bearings are they have all the advantages you mentioned in this video. Great Review ! nice build on Marge.
Thanks! Any thoughts or recommendations on a manual conversion for this thing... th-cam.com/video/b1_oW5Pd78o/w-d-xo.html I was originally considering EFI and a junkyard 4L60e but now you have me thinking of something way more unique.
Large Marge is an awesome car and a great project build. I'm really intrigued by the twin master cylinder setup for braking. I've run it through a brake calculator and was really impressed by how it decreases pedal effort compared to a tandem master cylinder while getting as close as possible to maximum braking effort at both ends of the car.
I'm going to install the Silver Sport hydraulic clutch kit in my Foxbody Mustang. They make a kit specifically for my application! Thanks for the information. 🔥💯
My 68 Cougar had dual Cherry Bombs out the side in front of the tires, my buddy always said he could hear me miles away on the way to his garage, it was an awesome car, wish I had another one or a Stang. Large Marge is beautiful, looks more like a Black Bullit.
Exactly what I came here to search for..👍 Little tip... get you a clear vacume hose or water line and stick on that bleeder.. keeps.from making a mess or splashing when bleeding it. Can you WOT power shift it ? Where is the clutch engagement ?
I wish this was available when I had my 94 Mustang GT. Im not surprised the Macleod bearing failed on you I have read some scathing scalding bad reviews online.
great vid thx . quick question for Iam installing one now. when looking at the video when you show the throw out bearing already installed to the tranny and motor, is the face of the bearing riding on the clutch spring that i see when the clutch is engaged ? is there to be a slight gap between the face and the spring around .125 ? its hard to tell in your video , the face looks to be riding on the spring when the clutch is engaged. sorry for the long question , just trying to learn a bit more here. thx in advance
Did you put a little thread locker on the threaded adjustment for the bearing height, it will likely work itself up that threaded collar. Otherwise been thinking about doing this on my 65 Mustang with top loader the next time it comes out for any thing, the Tilton unit is by far better from an mechanical aspect, surprised the McCloud unit has no bracket to stop rotation...
You know what... I didn't put thread locker on that! I'll keep an eye on it. I've been so happy with the feel of the hydraulic clutch release bearing... makes the Mustang an absolute dream to drive.
How about in inside diameter, My T5Z has a 1.4375 and the inside of the trowout bearing are 1.370 Id, What size is the 60-6104 ?? Thanks great video, you know what your talking about !
Thanks! I'm trying to figure that out now... need to get a roll bar in there and then some better seats. After that it's time for window seals... and paint... and ... and LOL
@@AutoEdits are you for real! I’ve been thinking it was more complicated then that! Time to install my tkx!!! Thanks man so one line to the maste cylinder and a shorter line coming out the throwout that helps it bleed from the bottom?
12:34 Are those coilovers designed to be mounted that way (upside down) or did you just do that since they didn't have clearance up top? I highly doubt it was done to minimize dirt on the shocks hafts, protect the rods from being hit by rocks, or lower the CG since I've only seen it done for those reasons in off-roading.
If you'll notice... all the stickers are correctly oriented on the shocks since they are designed to be mounted that way. Makes it easy to change settings.
I have the American Powertrain kit for my 72 t56 magnum and I can’t get it to work. The clutch is not engaging. Clutch pedal only travels 1/2 of the way it used to. Throwout bearing only extended longer when the bleeder nipple is open. Any idea?
Man I been having same problems with 68 mustang with t5 out of 86 mustang motor runs great but there no kit to buy what you need you have to find them all
This setup will work and you could go with a standard clutch pedal and master cylinder. The Wilwood dual pedal setup is amazing but a bit pricey... but all the good stuff is.

Nice ride. Why didn't you use the stock cable style clutch like the foxbody/sn95 mustang came with? MDL makes lots of retrofit cables for older Fords, seems like less parts and $$$ involved....(?)
I totally agree it would be much cheaper to go that way but the fun part about building a hot rod is experimenting with the dream parts you want to try!
Yep I get it.. I just picked up a 66 stang that I hope to use your Marge as inspiration for my build, however my projects will have to go through the time/money vs effectiveness factor and probably get scaled down. Its been fun to watch this one get built! I've followed you since the 82 Z28 build .
my question is why did you not use a external hydraulic slave cylinder? keeps the simplicity of the fork, and easy serviceability without removing the transmission
This is actually easier to setup than building a cylinder mount on the stock clutch fork. Only takes me 45 min. to get the transmission out and the feel of the clutch release on the pilot is amazing. Just what I wanted to go this way on this project.
I would normally have sincere compassion for whatever a fellow gearhead is going through but since you keep insisting on this lame interaction and weird judgment... I’m out. Wish you well on your projects.
Anyone know the clearance between the throw out surface and the clutch fingers. He showed how to do the measurements and then didn't give the most important part, the clearance distance.
Totally retarded design. I had a similar bearing for rebuild in a 2005 GT and it failed inside of a week. Went back to OEM style which bolts to the face of the bell housing and worked just fine.
Hi Jason, I love your videos here on youtube, it always a pleasure to see some new builds you made here. But please do me a favour, paint or wrap the hood of your mustang, it hurts my eyes ;-) would look more complete and make your jobs even better, thanks.
"This doesn't always go this easy" as the trans slips effortlessly into position. Understatement of the year.
