I have to say, it's SO refreshing to see the audience just dancing and enjoying the show fully...instead of everybody standing shoulder to shoulder all holding up their cellphones the way people do at concerts today. Everyone here is enjoying themselves the way they should at a show. That is something we have lost unfortunately. In many ways i wish cellphones would cease to exist.

Really cool to see how they put the stage together prior to the show 🖤 quite the production. Really gives you an insight to how much budget rock bands had back in the day
What a great crowd. Kids notice how they were enjoying the show and not holding up phones like a bunch of fucking zombies. And yes I realize smart phones weren’t invented at that point.
18:21 surprised to hear Layne's voice crack in '92, and at the very beginning of the set too. Wonder if his vocals were gassed from previous performances? I like how he used the audience to shoulder some of the workload though. I would have done the same thing heh
His voice wasn’t warmed up yet. Usually a song this challenging would be placed later in a set, unless the vocalist took the time to really warm up beforehand.
@@deadletteroffice-atributet3261 On the same token, a song like that can be a bitch to sing even when warmed up. Like how Maynard said he kicked himself in the ass for writing songs that are just hard to pull off especially when road haggard, warmed up or not. So I can see getting it out of the way early in the set.
This is around that time they did the junkhead and would performances on that one show where Layne wore the same clothes and had the same vocal problems.
@@deadletteroffice-atributet3261 I totally understand but when ur one job is to sing and u know u have to be warmed up for a song it's on u to do that ahead of time. But since he continued to struggle the rest of the set it's likely not warm up issues.

Layne is so healthy and smooth and strong. I never knew he was this beautiful. I always loved him no matter what but in all these years I never realized he could be like this. I'm stunned and blown away! Thanks so much for sharing this.
Not healthy, neither is he strong. I mean did you watch the video? He looks sickly thin and this was when he started to use heroin a lot more. The only strong thing in this video is his voice, and its still a noticable difference between his vocals from 1991 to 1992
@@aleksastamenkovic5526 I thought this was after he got out of rehab - not sure when he picked up again, but I thought he looked pretty healthy too. That vocal crack in Man in the Box isn't necessarily an indicator of health, that's a hell of a high note to belt so early in the set. I just know about a year later he looked much worse.. and couldn't hit those highs as cleanly.
They’ve barely got space to stand on that stage. I remember playing places that size, and I always used to ask, ‘How about, instead of moving all our gear in, we move the fuckin’ stage OUT, so we might spread out a little?’

I miss Mark Lanegan. Funny how when it comes to grunge, most remember the big 4. Lanegan always gets left out. That voice though. I want everyone to listen to “dollar bill” and tell me that you haven’t felt that way, at least once in your life. Only Mark Lanegan could have sung that song. Anyone of the big 4 would have done it justice, no doubt. But Lanegan sang it. He really was “like an old dollar bill.” RIP Mark.
i still can’t believe Mark is gone. it’s almost a year. seemed like he got thru it all and was still standing. listen to the audiobook of ‘Sing Backwards and Weep’ if you haven’t. @@jamesriver3745 lol I guess I can agree with some of that. I mean he was a degenerate drug addict so maybe that’s why he seems sleepy. But the underage girls thing.. not so sure.. maybe boys 😂 lol jk
From a genuine Aic fan THANK YOU for this Gem! Layne Staley forever
This band knew how to make good music, for sure. Layne was put on the earth to do this, and him and Jerry were the mightiest pair of any musicians, without a doubt. The only thing that bothers me about them is that I was never able to see them Live, but then, that's not they're doing now is it? I love their music...
They’re still playing tho but without Layne 😿
As someone born way after layne’s time this is so special, thanks for the post
I would give anything to have been at that show. I was 13 at the time and my parents wouldn't dream of letting me go to live shows. As a NW Oregon girl, it kills me that I missed out on this show and on the RHCP/Pearl Jam/Nirvana Salem Armory show a few months earlier. Thank you for uploading this footage.
I was 14 years Old milion Miles away in Europe Poland don't even think I will ever see any of AIC live in my entire life... I did't as Layne passed away SO early but I feel you Oregon girl! We have this footage and many more🤘
It’s interesting that even Layne himself had a hard time hitting some of the high notes. What’s great about that? Imperfection is an amazing thing!
I'm 62 and jumped on the grunge bus when MITB was released about when the movie singles was released. I just found this today 12/24/22. Absolutely fantastic. Thanks for posting.
Awesome close footage as well as a treasure. "...since these guys are stupid enough to let me play guitar I'm gonna do it..." ha.
Thanks for this!!
I just found out this was taped by a friend. I was hired as local crew for this show- I’m the guy in the purple T-shirt with long wavy hair 🤣 doing setup. What a show!
This footage right here is an absolute treasure! Thank you so much for sharing. It honestly made my whole damn year!!!
Thank you for posting this! I was there! First time I'd heard any of the 'Dirt' songs except "Would?", which had already been released on the Singles soundtrack.
He was moving into Heroin which sucked out his motivation. However, all of their oldest songs were a challenge!
Nice touch with setup. Real time capsule.
Wow, it's amazing what the road crew has to do to perfect a great performance!! Pretty Damn Cool!!!
We work hard. 2020 has killed our industry. This is going to be the saddest, poorest xmas of my almost 50 year life.
What a way to wake up your vocal chords kicking off with Man in the Box.
I love that they immediately got it outta the way too.
Jerry is incredibly gifted as a guitarist and songwriter. I've seen him look at the other guys during shows and smile which makes me love him even more.
I love seeing the set up process
What an amazing part of W.O.W. Hall history. Thank you so much for posting this!!!
Rain when I die sounds so good here
Layne didnt sing the chorus like on the record but that was probably before he decided to do it differently for the record. Still great though.
@@kevinmckenzie6736 that's what I was thinking, maybe it was a working version. I wonder if there's an outtake on the record, using this vocal take - how amazing would that be!
this is crazy to see the stage setup for alice and how they do it, then to see an empty room turn into such a rockin event that i wish i could time travel to.. i wish i could have been here ... fuckin happy birthday to LAYNE!!! what a crazy singer!!
Thank you for this awesomeness!
@@99bajakid Layne really went by the months after he started using honestly since his sobriety was so on and off at points
Wow they sound (and Layne sounds) absolutely amazing here!!!
They’ve barely got space to stand on that stage. I remember playing places that size, and I always used to ask, ‘How about, instead of moving all our gear in, we move the fuckin’ stage OUT, so we might spread out a little?’
Thank you for posting this gem!! Layne looks so healthy! ❤😎👌
I don't see any "healthy"...
So being pale and gaunt is considered healthy to you? This whole year was horrible for him.
G O A T....Undisputed! Got Dirt on cassette in early '93 and it was only album I brought with me for a 4 day surf weekend. Listened to both sides over and over. Even on the way home, beat ass tired and arms like spaghetti I was hyped and happy because of this album. It just lined up with my life at the time! I absolutely love Facelift, but this was a monstrous follow-up.Thank you to who uploaded this. You deserve a medal!
Where's all the cell phones? People actually had to watch the live concert happening in front of them? That's messed up.
Haven't heard that one before.
Thank you 1000 times over. I was 15 and hadn't yet ventured out of Medford for shows. I have been to many parties there in a later life lol
Holy crap this is a great show! A near-future greatest hits of Dirt-- every song a homerun! Thanks so much for posting
This is freaking Awesome!! The early years! Cantrell is using the gear Ed gave him. They must have finished opening for VH.
Jerry and Mike, you are the best for all this 30 years ❤. Layne rest in peace Legend 😢
Superb..🤘 thank you
I was here and I would search TH-cam at least once a year as I hoped it had been recorded since it was playing on the TV in the bar. I was standing directly in front of Cantrell with my hands on the barricade. Wish I would've went to the second night as well. For me, this was one of those shows seeing an amazing band at an amazing time in a small venue. Pretty sure White Zombie played here within a couple months of this show. Thank you so much for posting.
If I had a nickel for every time someone yelled, "Play something from SAP" I bet I'd have at least 10 bucks lol
My headphones won't get loud enough...
Saw them at a small club for free around that time , unfortunately don't remember much but through the magic of TH-cam can see what I missed without any after effects which is great !
Thank god in the age without iPhones, someone had a camcorder. Legendary
“We have a new record coming out next month, so we’re gonna play songs off that…” I hope someone got layne that weed 😂😂😂
thank you thank you thank you , I've been looking for this show online hoping someone had filmed it, i was at this show and this was a night that changed my whole life sending me down the path of being a musician and playing in my own band. i cannot thank you enough for uploading this show... i got to meet the band that night as well, its a night i will never forget and now i get to watch it again. you don't know how much this means to me and i cannot thank you enough Master Dred!!!!!!!!
i still have the flier and my ticket stub signed by them...
did you talk to someone from the band
Thank you for uploading this. One of the best live vids of them by far. You sir deserve a medal!
Mark reads it. his solo records are still some of my favorites. there’s a live studio recording of The Gravedigger’s Song that always gives me chills.
honestly the most interesting set list ive seen from them. Especially starting from Man in the Box to end with Would
Thank Goodness for Camcorders ❤️ QC
This is so amazing we are able to witness this piece of history! Thank you.
Yes agreed, thanks for sharing this brilliant video with us all brother, thank you so much.
Sorry but....WOW what a xxuckin concert, GRT band, GRT singer, head banging and the audience just surpassed themselves if I do say so myself young chap...1 of the commentares that I read said he was there and that it was 5 freakin $$$....you lucky barsteward 🤔👍👍🏴☠️..
Time Warp ! 1992 was a Great Year ....Much Respect for Sharing this Gem .....Miss Layne ..... and Mike ...
This literally made my year!Thank you!!!!
My 8 year old granddaughter is taking drum lessons. She knows AC/DC Back in Black now. I'm hoping she learns some AIC soon!
Fucking awesome though just chilling on the speaker killing it in we die young.
2021 still listening to Layne🤘🏼🙏🏼
2024 ❤

Try this Rain When I Die they played the following day:

Thanks for posting. I love the different way Layne sings the chorus in Rain When I Die.
Gruntruck were great i saw them open for Pantera in 1993 Newport Centre UK....
