I finally finished mine I used OD green stock set instead of black got the 14.5" pencil carbine length gas barrel assembly from Tony's customs with the OD green stock set and a RR extended A2 extended flash hider . I did use a older style slip ring and a C7 upper and I was going to use a slick side upper and do the Air Force model but they where out of stock so I used the C7 upper because it was what I had on hand. I have to say it came out well very light gun.
I just recently got my stamp approved for my SBR clone of a 733 (as seen in the film "Heat"). There really should be more videos out there on the 700-series carbines plus the USAF Mixmaster GUUs.
FreedomLover yep. There were a few hiccups getting it up and running well (Thanks to the barrel I had to go with due to a lack of other options) but it’s an enjoyable little shooter now. Plus back in January I managed to get ahold of an actual Colt 733 upper as well.
They got one like this at my local shop. It's a Colt, same furniture with an A2 fixed carry handle. I'm in love. I already got an A1-style carbine as my first gun. $985 can get me a genuine Colt A2!

Very cool, I'm buildin one now with a 14.5 pencil barrel with h&r a1 upper, h&r government marked m16a2 lower with an a1 grip and aluminum car15 stock. Only thing I'm adding that's not like milspec I guess is a giessle SSAE trigger.
Nice. I prefer the A1 style rear sight which is bomb proof and looks right. I also like that it accepts a bayonet. That said, I would favor the 725 (C8 Carbine) which all had the case deflector (essential IMO) and 1:7 twist barrel. For practical use I'd add a BCM GUNFIGHTER Charging Handle (Mod 4B, MED).
Well done. Just ordered a barrel from CDNN to complete my build. It's a full 16" to avoid NFA, so it's not accurate in that dimension. Got my used A1 upper on Gunbroker. The barrel is also a straight design, medium, not pencil. Larry Vickers said there seems to be no explaining why some got M4 profile barrels or pencil style.

Have you looked at Brownells? When I do another one of these I'm going to use their retro 14.7 pencil barrel. The only difference is you could attach a standard flash hider instead of an extended one, and they offer it in 1/12 or 1/7 twist.
No I haven't I will check them out I would like a 1x7 for ammo sake I have been doing retros for a while now 601,XM16 , M16A1 and XM177 CAR15 and a retro dissipater model . I did the 723 with M4 step down barrel that was also issued if you were a Ranger you either got your 723 or the M4 type 723 like the one Vickers has a video of. In the Marine Corps in the MEUSOC we started getting in M4 with A2 sights just a few most of us by then had M16A2 guns by early 1990s .
Delta used these uppers in the 90s with m4 barrels so anything can go in that aspect some of the earlier models "653" being one the a1 uppers was used still in the early to late 90s as the traditional models replaced them
@@chrismorris5604723 had a A1E1 (also known as C7) upper receivers which makes them a “723” rather than a “653.”The same gun with a A2 upper is a “727” (which developed into the XM4). How long they were held onto and “used” doesn’t change Colts Model number.
If you keep your elbow pointed toward the ground instead of out to the side, you won’t catch a round to the arm as easily. I want you to win a gun fight uninjured brother. Good build
I'm building a 727 and found some repro old style lock ring/ castle nuts at essentialarms.com. i notice you're using a modern castle nut. Only thing is you gotta do is call and give em all your info, kinda annoying. Nice build!
Basically what delta was using in black hawk down. Look at some of my videos I have a Bushmaster m4a2 which is a colt 727 clone except it has a 16 inch barrel.
723s were transitional. Early ones had pencil profile barrels and A1 uppers. Later ones had C7 style uppers and eventually stepped profile barrels similar to M4 profile barrels. I like the early ones which for all intents were very similar to 653s but with a 1/7 twist rate. It's ok bro.

It does have an elevation rear sight mate. The leaf if correct has two ranges and not on the same plane. Good build though.

So found a place that sells these 14.5 " barrel assemblies and I ordered a extended A2 flash hider I am on my way.
