Bison Armory 18" Fulcrum Barrel .223 Wylde

This barrel shoots amazingly! Full disclosure: Ben at Bison Armory very generously gave me this barrel, with the agreement that I would present it honestly good or bad. Lucky for me it's an awesome barrel and there was nothing negative to say! To avoid any possible bias on my part I'm trying to give only quantitative data. Thanks for watching!

Thank you. I'm thinking about grabbing this
Depends on the gun…I’ve ran 77 grain in a 1:9 no issues. Normal defense distances you want see a difference
The whole deal here is ............Your Barrels shot this & shot that. Thats all this video means, yer barrels. We could all make videos of our 2 barrels & their same twist rates & have completely reverse results, or the same results, or better results. Fact is you don't know for sure until you shoot your own barrels. That all it means.
I intentionally build all my ar's with a 1-9 twist, I can shoot projectiles as heavy as 75 grains with no stability issues, I mainly shoot lighter though, I use my ar's and .223 for what they were made for, varmits and predators. If i want to shoot long range I use a larger gun lol 😂
Good stuff thanks
bullet bearing surface dictates barrel twist, not bullet weight
Excellent video: short, sweet, to the point. THANK YOU!
Metric thread and adapter if needed. 14/1, 15/1
Are the diameters on the T 3X light, stainless and blued the same diameters? I was wondering for stock replacement.
@@brianmelton5723 I've never had a blued one to check out, so I'm not completely sure.
Best most concise explanation of the dozens of videos on this exact topic. Plus no annoying Muzak soundtrack while you are explaining. 5 stars! Thank you!
Mine is storm. But it has plastic magazine. WTH?????
@dmcnabb2226 was it an "apex" storm or "XP" that comes a scope already on it?
A ballistic block is where you can see more difference most likely. A melon test between 1:7 and 1:12 is noticeably different.
Would -8 clicks (using the set screw loosened to turn the bottom wheel 8 clicks clockwise to allow the 6/3 wheel to rotate that far) then give you a 25m zero with a detachable handle? Would you zero then with the big aperture?
I like it!👍
Did that M&A stock fit ok on a 6 position extension tube?
Can you use a jam nut as the shoulder?
@@richarddaigle7101 Would it stay 100% square to the bore? I don't really know.
I found that Strike"s T Bone CH and the AT3 SS upper pairs perfectly. The T Bone floats so theres no to very little contact with the upper. T Bone is a Latchless and gas busting. U choose what side of the T Bone u wanna reditect and expell gas from left side right side or both. On the 1st charge u will find out why iMO its a perfect pairingl
actual is always better than theory.
Ah... those keyboard scientists that get a hickup about the shape of jugs^^.
Watev gun that is , it’s beautiful
Wow a magic bullet
B.T.W. I Hea the 6/3 is for A 16 " Barrel, 1 in 7 twist, 60 / 72 gr bullet. So I read,
8/3 = 20 Inch barrel 1 in 12 twist for 55 gr. Right ?.
I’m headed towards a 7” kkm 9x25 g40
This vid led me to the 135gr noslers…longslide trp gets em goin
Building one just like your second one. However I believe since the rear sight is adjustable you could just raise it to get a zero, correct? Then adjust the rear sight ring to get it where you want it.
I am under the impression that the issue of overstabilization revolves around wound ballistics. The original _OG_ AR-15 had a 1:14 twist rate but the Army wanted it increased to 1:12, despite concerns that the faster twist rate would "overstabilize" the projectile and negatively impact its hydrostatic shock effect. That concern was renewed with the change to 1:7 twist, (the 55gr projectile loses even more hydro-shock effect with the even faster twist rate). But I am an old man and I am recounting old debates from the 80s and 90s.
I just noticed my at3 upper doesnt have the forward assist. Didnt notice that then i bought it. Does it matter? I never use forward assist fwiw
With the AR- platform, barrel twist rate is one component. Length of the gas block is also important.
Dose this matter if you’re running a muzzle adapter for your suppressor? Like a Surefire
you gotta be chitting me
Great video. I bought one in 7mm08 storm. It was my 5th 110. ALL have had warped stocks even the 110 storm with aluminum reinforces stock. Worst stocks in the industry by miles
That’s really a fantastic and unexpected outcome. I’m amazed at the 1/9 . I’ve never shot anything over 69 grain in mine for reasons mentioned. Thanks for a great video, bud!
I've shot a fair bit of 75gr from my 1-9 they stabilize fine. All that said I truly believe the slower twist rate is better if your not going to shoot anything over 75gr.
good job underwood
How does the Lightweight Storm perform @ 100yds? Thank you for the comparison of models. I’ve been curious about the L-Storm for some time, but haven’t seen a lot of review.
I have the tikka t3x lite in 6.5 creed. I want to put my 30 cal surpressor on it but I remember you’re not supposed to run a barrel under 18in. I would need 5/8x24 to direct thread my aero precision on it. Any recommendations?
My shooting partner and I shot at Oak Ridge T, 4-800 peep sights only match, AR’s. I shot $600 DPMS 20” 1:9. Partner shot Colt Delta Elite 1:7 20”. 55 grain cheap ammo until 800yds then both shot federal gold match 69 grain. Both shot about the same however both guns shot all in X ring at 800 yds.
I look at the Storm and can find many things on it that I wish were on the lightweight Storm, but each and every one adds to the weight. The lightweight Storm is extremely accurate and I've yet to have any problems with the ones I own. At 70 years old, lightweight rifles just have more appeal when I'm hunting in the mountains.
I have the first year s&w put out the m&p 15. I think they were in conjunction with stagg still? Anyhow it came with F marked A2 fixed front, removable carry handle, and a very robust back up iron. Using the carry rear sight worked great but took it off. The back up iron I put on and ran great as well. Still have it to this day a long with vortex strikefire ii and running strong. The sports idk...Lol.
Mine wasn't so good with my FN. 55 grain didn't do well, but 62 grain was in an inch. 62 shot better in my bolt gun with a 1-8.
Why do you shoot like that? Not hating just never seen someone grip a handgun like that. Obviously it works because you definitely arnt a bad shooter
This is so helpful. Thank you for doing this video!
Nicely done!! All I know, each group, each round, under either twist rate; You're taking a target down!! What's the average chest size of a target? lol a foot or more?? Thanks for the video
Maybe I am just silly, but a 1 in 8 seems to be the best. All of mine are 1 in 8.
It does have an elevation rear sight mate. The leaf if correct has two ranges and not on the same plane. Good build though.
1-12" twist barrels really produce tight groups with 55 grain and under .223 ammo. I have found if you primarily shoot 55 gr. FMJ ammo out of your AR, 1-9" really produces decent groups. If you shoot the 60 grain and up, go with a 1-7" or 8" twist barrel. 1-7" will work fine with 55 gr. and heavier bullets. 55 gr. lead tip bullets will start to disintegrate fired through a 1-7" twist barrel, so use fully jacketed bullets or ELD type bullets in 1-7".
Very well explained. Thanks,
Thank you for this video. I learn better when there is something I can read not so good by listening. Video was a huge help thank you
So helpful, thank you!
I have a chrome-lined free-float barrel on my Bushmaster XM15. The 75gr A-Max shoot wild at 600 yards. I was shooting all Xs and 10s with 69gr Sierras, then switched to the 75gr A-Max. I would shoot an X, then ja e a shot high, to the right, above the target frame, then shoot a 10, then a shot in the dirt below the target. So...my results were completely different than your.
Magic bullet 😊
