Sorry to hear that Danyella. I've been on a bad run since 2014 - my Mum dying, some marital problems, a major termite infestation, car problems, medical problems with both kids, a huge drop in income since the pound collapsed after the 2016 Brexit vote, etc etc. I thought this year would be better, but Covid has killed the economy and the pound is still very weak (I live abroad so I am very susceptible to exchange rates). Maybe next year will be better? It has got me down at times, but never give up. Remember it's not just you. Everyone goes through rough patches and everything goes in cycles. As for the exhaust, it seems like you are almost back to where you started with a single pipe, a Tubi twin pipe would I think provide what you are looking for but at a price, bout 1800 quid I think....and the wing badges..I like them, they look good on a 308.

I absolutely DO feel your pain, brother. I did this to one of my cars in about 1998. I was jacking my treasured 9 year old 1989 Acura Legend Coupe up using a hydraulic floor jack which I had under the standard Honda central jacking point below the engine. I had good quality wheel stops fore and aft on both rear wheels, and I think I had it in gear with the parking brake on. While I was in the process of jacking it up with a very small size hydraulic jack on a mildly inclined driveway at a mild (15 to 30 degree) angle to the slope, the car began to suddenly slide sideways, causing the jack to turn onto its side, jamming into my engine oil pan, causing a massive dent in that pan. I was majorly bummed out! This dent impinged the oil pickup and the crankshaft. So, yes, I DO feel your pain!
On the bright side, this sentinel event will cause you to be hyper careful whenever using jacks, jackstands or car lifts for the rest of your life. This future extra care may prevent you from severely injuring yourself.
Bless you brother. It will be all right.

The jack incident was as a valuable caution of safety issues to consider. Relieved that it only scratched some non-essential sheet metal. Aviation has discovered the value of openness about treating even minor incidents as warnings about potential disasters, so kudos for featuring it. Maybe someone watching this will use a jack stand when they might not otherwise have. If things go too well for too long, when they don't they do so horribly. The odd scare keeps you from complacency.

Ohh Jack! What a totally shit day. I’d have crawled away and cried for a few hours and then locked the garage for a month. Thank you for your honest sharing and please keep your faith in the 308. Always look forward to the next episode. 😢

I feel your pain over the slipped jack and body work damage, but at least you weren't injured when it happened. I'm a Jag enthusiast and have written on some of the Jaguar forums for some 18 years. I've known two fellow listers die, yes dead, in accidents where cars they were working on dropped on them. One widow bravely wrote to the entire forum in the hope that her letter would serve as a warning to others. Absolute tragedy.
    Have fun but work safe.

Waaay back in the 1970's, I'd resprayed the bonnet of my Triumph Spitfire and amazingly, everything had gone well. There was now a beautiful bright red gleaming paint job on that bonnet without even a hint of dust to ruin it. I celebrated with a nice cup of tea, put the mug of tea to one side and promptly rested one hand on the bonnet (as I had done a zillion times before) and instantly stuck to the tacky paintwork. Of course as I pulled away, the paintwork was absolutely ruined! It broke my heart and the next day I had to do the whole respray job all over again. I never managed to get it anywhere near as perfect as it had been for just a few special minutes the day before. So I really understand your pain!

That's a horrible thing to have happen. Three good things though: 1. You weren't hurt / under the car when it happened; 2; it's not structural damage; 3. Both you and the Influenzo live to fight another day. Best of luck with repair work and keep your head up. You will get this project finished!

Chin-up Jack. Thank goodness you weren't underneath it chap!. I too recently decided I'd had enough of so-so trolley jacks and got a professional grade one. I was advised to avoid the alloy jobs & went for a regular steel one, but low level for better access. Winntec 2.0 ton. Ball joints done, bushes next, onwards & upwards

Thanks so much for sharing.. and so sorry for your mishap. I had my Honda S2000 fall off a jack stand for similar reasons.. your sharing this experience helps all of us avoid similar issues.. (ie make sure the jack can roll!!- and/or get one that has less of an arc). I now own a Ferrari 360, planning DIY work, and really appreciate your sharing! Sounds like an opportunity to deal with some rust bubbles as well... cheers from California!

I'm sorry to hear of your misfortune and it is big of you to share it so openly. A few observations as a 308 owner myself.
    1. That sill can likely be pulled straight by a good bodyshop or at worst a repair section can be added. Replacing it is a MUCH larger job with many more issues associated with having to graft the new part along the length of the sill. At present the damage is mainly in the back 1/3rd and sticking to that end will save you a lot of grief and money.
    2. The 'jacking point' on the sill should be ignored completely. ALWAYS jack the car from the visible chassis rails just in front of the rear wheels or the diagonal chassis rail in the front wheel arch just behind the wheel. Rock solid and totally reliable.
    3. Buy a few ice hockey pucks. They are the perfect accessory for your trolley jack and do a wonderful job of protecting the chassis while offering a firm buffer between your jack and the chassis.
    4. There will be a lot of comments here with people telling you to repaint the car, strip it down, do it 'right' , etc. The fact is there are many ways to carry out a proper repair and people love to tell you what to do when they are not paying the repair bill. It is important to be reasonable and practical. Your damage is small and contained and can be repaired well without resorting to an intense tear down.
Best of luck with future projects. Regards from Canada.

    Gutted for you.
We've all been there, though... I had a car slip sideways off axle stands. Ended up with the floor pierced on one side, still cover cut and a door badly bent on the other. The important thing is you weren't injured in the process and good that you can move on quickly and put it behind you - get out there and enjoy it now that most of the slop will have been taken out of the suspension and you actually know how fast you're going! 😊

The two floor jack brands I’ve seen recommended the most here in Germany are Bahco and Rodcraft-no idea if those are available in Britain tho.
Myself, I’ve got a 2.5t low access Bahco, it’s a 45kg monster made out of 8mm steel plates, I think it would survive a nuclear war. But as it’s such a hassle to move around if you don’t have a garage to put both your tools and car in, I recently added a 1.3t aluminium Rodcraft jack that weighs just 10.5kg. It looks to be very good quality too and is more than capable of lifting my Miata, but the Bahco is still in another class simply for its brutal heft. If push comes to shove, I’d trust it more than the small Rodcraft, but I bet the bigger Rodcraft jacks are just as solid as the Bahco ones, judging by the quality of the small jack.

Its 'good' that you did that and shared it. We all have massive fuckups that make us want to bang our head on the quarter panel and cry! I once completely lunched the motor in an Audi A3 on its first restart, after days of work. (And not because the timing was out!) Really enjoyed this episode, because I felt your pain. You said we can't imagine how you felt, but actually we can! :)

I don't care what anyone says; it takes unprecedented levels of testicular fortitude to post a video of you smashing the sills on your vintage Ferrari on the internet for all to see. I respect that level of dedication, and your ability to admit fault in front of so many. Pip pip old chap.

Your speedo is still broken, as you werent doing the speeds it appeared you might be..
Without lights & without stickers is better, gives the car cleaner lines, 'less is more' & all that.
Wishing you all the best getting things sorted.

On the plus side, you were not underneath it with no wheel on, when it came off the jack!!!!! Definite thumbs up for the shield stickers and the fog light delete, not sure about the front number plate? i'm trying a spell of front number plate delete on my Porsche 930 and not had my collar felt yet (fingers crossed).
