What great video. Am going to try this myself tomorrow to see if I can fix the problem and clear the airbag light on my GTA. By the way, your videos on replacing the parker globes, and the side indicator lights were brilliant. Managed to fix both issues in a few minutes - previously spent ages trying to replace the parker lights alone.

True, zip ties and WD40 to the rescue! :D I repaired mine this way 3 years ago and the light never came back.
I did not use diagnostics to clear the codes, the light switched off immediately after fixing it on my Alfa GT.
Yes! It's my method every day. I did a similar repair on a Chevrolet Aveo. The same simtoms, light on, no fault and... Zip ties and wd40! Thank you for watching!

Hello. It's been working for me all my live. Even if it doesn't work, you can replace the control unit with clear conscious.

The control unit was the first thing I changed. The software couldn't even read the one I replaced. Now I can read it but still the error didn't clear. The one thing I didn't do that you brought to my attention, is the need to change the state after clean g the connections, really happy I have maybe too things to try because of you. Thank so much.
It is the most important thing in any airbag system. You have to change the state
Y airbag start to light when some ecu tools i put inside ECU and i was able always to turn offf light when i unplug all connection at the bottom of the seats without ignition cays inside and let them about 1h or more and than back to car re-connect and than start car and afther 5m light turn off but afther last plug in ECU i professional service (a was have problem wich FAP sensor and i drive car in service) this methor for turn offf airbag light dosent work anymore, is constant.
First time i was have this problem is turnet off by itself afther couple of days, seccond time appier again when ODBIII was plug and all was death, radio, screen and back doors doesn't want to close on keys. When i was finally able to turn on engine i was drive car into garage and pull of "body computer" under rear seat, clean all connetions and let unplugged for 24h and than back again all and car work again normaln 3 year later, and now afther this diagnostic tool in service im unable tu turn off airbag light. I will try that yellow plug tu touch, that was main problem for 147 but now in 159 im not sure because light didnt appear when im moving seats, ever.
Hi, great video again. For me, the problem is in the passenger airbag, because when I move the seat it sometimes goes out. Where is its plug?

I have a 156 with airbag issue light and I have done all the following cleaned the connectors. No fault code is showing and the light is still on the dash. Can you advise. Any thanks Winston
Hello. Like said on the video, no fault codes is just the scan tool that isn't able to read them. Try another diagnosis machine and follow the same procedure on the affected areas. Or.. do all the connectors and check again

Where can I find this on alfa 156 sedan before face-lift? It is not under the seat.
Hello. They are all the same, but if your car does not have side bags will not have the plug under the seat
Muito obrigado! O meu 156 insiste em manter o código de circuito aberto do tensionador do passageiro. Já tentei limpar o plug que fica na coluna, mas o erro persiste. Existe algum outro plug no caminho entre o cinto e a ecu do airbag?

I have 156 Selespeed from 2000 phase 1 and I don’t have curtain airbags only side airbags in the seats. Is this yellow plug also connected to the front airbag and to the side ones or only to the front?
I’m asking this because my airbag light just came on, after 20 years!!
Also my airbag light for the passenger on/off position came on. Do you think it is connectors problem?
I don’t have any diagnosis computer to connect to the car.

The yellow plug under the seat is for the side bag. You will have a plug on the B pillar the the pre tensioner. Basically you will have a plug for each loop, for each bag/tensioner.
The side bag switch is also controlled by the unit, any problem on that loop will turn on the light. Including the switch it self and it's plugs

I just tried your method for the yellow plugs under both seats, well it didn’t work. As I said I don’t have a diagnostic tool to check which airbag is giving this fault. I will keep searching.

You really need the diagnosis machine. Even if you solve the problems the light will not turn of on it's own.

Thanks mate. I just went to a friend mechanic and he erased the fault with his diagnose computer. So it was really a faulty contacts in the airbag.

What do you think of Autel MaxiDiag Elite MD802? Is it worth 52 Euros for a used one (plus some import tax)?
Edit: It is actually an auction, so it will go for a higher price. I don't think I can aford it then. Never mind...
It is not the most complete machine, but it should work very well like all autel machines.
It is a good price too.

It will be even more difficult in the future. Even with legal diagnosis machines, makers demand payment to access some functions on diagnosis
