(Except the type pressure. she had a massive tack in the rear tyre.) Thank you!!!

    On my 2003 Saturn Ion I had coolant light plus engine light on dash on. I jumped engine temp sensor with paperclip. No more coolant light (I figured sensor in coolant tank hooped). Then I did your method for check engine light it worked, but not for long.
    I told my mechanic. He said f... it. It runs perfectly anyway. I got the car for free, but I rebuilt it. It should last me 500,000 miles. I maintain my vehicles very well. But, I'm not spending money locating the cause of f...... check engine light at a garage. Thanks for video.

    Great information, thank you!
    For all y'all who are saying that clearing the ABS light doesn't fix the problem; ...y'all really don't listen very well.
    This process is how to clear the warning lights AFTER you've fixed the problem. He says you still need to fix the problem; this is just how to clear the lights if they remain on after you've fixed it. If there's still an ABS problem, THEN you will know a problem still exists. It's just a tool for troubleshooting and clearing false information out of the computer.
    He also says it's not going to work all the time or on all vehicles. But hey, it's a good start to avoid paying buku bucks if you can do it yourself. If it doesn't work, THEN go pay someone to clear it.

    People are such haters, Listen up. When he pulled the sensor and started the car the diagnostic computer throws a code and the check engine light comes on. That code is then stored in the computer. The way these vehicle diagnostics work is, once the problem has been fixed the vehicle has to be driven so many miles for the computer to run a complete diagnostic test on the vehicle and recognize that the issue has been corrected. Usually about 75-100 miles. Only then will the light go out on its own without using a scan tool or what he did in this video to reset it. So settle down, The guy is trying to help people.

    KNOW *THIS* BEFORE YOU DISCONNECT THE BATTERY! On some vehicles with radio *theft lock* active, like on a GM, your car radio will be *LOCKED OUT* if the battery is disconnected. If this happens and you don't know the unlock code, *you must go pay a DEALER to run your VIN through their computer to retrieve the UNLOCK CODE.*

Well done, but the best idea is get under 50 box buy at online even used on at ebay and get the code, general idea, NOT exactly what are all the problems are, N then simply reset. After that use retrieved code 2 fix underlying problems.

      I don't like the check engine light, or any warning lights on. This don't fix the problem unless your problem, like mine is a big orange check engine light. lol
      That's why I do it. My problem is in the emission system. No big deal in my 2003 Buick LeSabre. If it were serious I'd repair the problem.

    • @rocknral
      @rocknral ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If it's serious, it will come back on. But for alot of the time, it's just a hiccup in the system that throws a light. If it doesn't come back on it's nothing to worry about.

  • @fuq5802
    @fuq5802 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    This is an obd2 system. Works sometimes. Light comes back on if you didn't correct the problem. Do not do this on a CAN system. When you hook the battery cables back up to the battery this causes a voltage spike. Could wipe out a pcm or bcm or any other control module. CAN started in 05. On every vehicle sold around the world since 08. Go buy a code reader/eraser $60. Hell of a lot cheaper than replacing a powertrain control module or body control module.

      I pulled out the AC control unit right under the radio on my 2001 Volvo S80 and installed it back. The SRS airbag urgent service is on now. If I drive it for about 50 miles, would that clear the code?

  • @arkansasmountainman
    @arkansasmountainman 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    You might have to enter a code in your radio to get it to work again. Before you do this, find out if you do. Either in your manual, where the code should have been entered, or on line. It can be very difficult and expensive to find out the code so be aware of it before you do anything!
    I just go by any large parts store or a mechanic friend and have them read or reset the codes. If you fix the problem the code will reset by itself but may require you to drive a little bit til a full diagnostics is done. Resetting the code doesn't prevent it from coming back again. If the problem isn't fixed as soon as diagnostics is run by the car, it will return. I've found that the people at the parts store may or may not reset the code. They have done it sometimes but other times they say it's against company policy. Nothing is going to be harmed by resetting but also nothing will be corrected either.
    I've heard that some dealer's will do this to get a vehicle through an auction. Unscrupulous but done. If you buy from an auction, you should realize it's probably a car a dealer didn't want to sell because it's not popular enough, rougher body, too old for them (trade in) or there's hidden problems you won't be able to find until you get possession of it. You are very limited on what you can do at the inspection. Guaranteed if it's cheap to fix and a popular vehicle in decent shape, you won't find a dealer selling it across the auction floor, especially if you have to go to one of the public auction sales. Often public auctions are the places dealer's sell cars that other dealers didn't want in the regular auction. You can usually start the vehicle, maybe move it a few feet forward or back but no real "checking it out" allowed.

    They used to do this with much older classic cars but, most likely, it will cause a short in the ECM or power-train model and damage or burn out one or more components like the ELD doing this on newer cars. You can get a code detector for about $25. A person who doesn't have a code detector, with which you can delete codes, shouldn't be working on cars. Always remove the negative cable last and connect the negative cable first.

    Look people. On some cars the error will not just go away once you plug that back in. And secondly. If this method is not working for you. It's not that it doesn't work. It's most likely that you actually have something that needs fixed. Can be small or something big. This is basically just checking to see if your car picked up a bad reading and nothing really is wrong. But i'm not really sure why he clamped the two together. Unless that was to make sure they didn't fall back into contact with the battery connecters.

    This method also works for oil change lights. A car I once worked on would throw a light every 5000 miles or so asking for an oil change, regardless of whether one was actually done or not.

    • @joeb1476
      @joeb1476 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Fuddleton depending on year and make of cars, most times the oil change light is due to mileage tracker and not a sensor that knows you've changed the oil, vehicles with controls to scroll through a menu are easy to reset by holding the button that's used to select an option in the menu while it's on the oil change percentage option, others are reset by pressing the trip button on a digital dash to where it shows mileage then holding the trip button, others are a sequence of between 4 and 15 quick ignition cycles, no need to disconnect a battery every time you change oil.

    All TOYOTA and Lexus with obd2 just connect obd pins 12 and 14 with a paperclip, turn on the key, all dash warning lights will flash. Turn off key and pull off clip. Your done

    Do you and can you safely touch the neg and positive battery cables together like that? Or is it safe because he is attaching them together with a negative clamp attached to something that we cant see in the video. Is it an important thing you MUST do (connect the cables together) to achieve a successful result in getting rid of Air Bag LIght?

      Amee Hassa if it's an interference motor, then yes, you have to remove timing belt to get water pump off so might as well change it and guide pulley while in there, but if it's not an interference motor then no need to tear into it unless it needs it done anyways.

    I saw your video saying that dirt, mud and debris could cause an ABS light to come on. Could a layer of rust make the ABS light come on ? it looks like my abs sensors are covered with a thin layer of rust ( 2005 Chrysler Town and Country ) and the left one has a little bit of grease on it. But I dont have a way to get under the car and give it a good wash to get the grease off. Could the rust be causing the ABS light to be on?

    • @teenice894

      Yes, happened on my Tahoe. Well the spacers rust or hub will rust creating bubbles under where the sensor mounts. Sometimes you can take out sensor, fill hole with tissue and sand down area

    Popping your airbags usually means you have just totaled your vehicle. Most of the time it will cost more to replace and repair the damage caused by airbags bling off than your vehicle is worth.
    Most vehicles today have around 8 airbags, at $800.00+ each and some are thousands, you can replace vehicle cheaper.

    • @jimthomas777
      @jimthomas777 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      A few Goodmen , sometimes you have to do a combination of things to get these items to work , like turning the key off and on several times , or pushing the brake pedal several times , the headlights on a 2000 S-10 truck stay on all the time but you can turn them off if you press the dome light switch 4 times , so look in your car's manual and it might explain or call your car dealership and ask for the service or parts department , you also might be able to Google it .

    Is it true that no reputable shop, licensed shop, won't turn off an ABS light unless problem is fixed? I really don't like bags anyway because they may save you but also potentially hurt you or even kill you in a crash. Imagine be killed by your own air bag and not the crash itself.

      @@samspianos do your research before you spread information about safety.
      This applies to two point shoulder belts, which are usually the "automatic" type attached to doors which they don't make anymore.
      A proper 3-point belt that goes over your chest AND your lap doesn't do this.
      My girlfriend's cousin was driving her chevy blazer last year when she got t-boned by a truck. She flew accross the cabin and died on impact with the opposite door.
