    Very well done! I just changed my spark plugs and fuel/water separator and it runs like a brand new engine! It's a 1999 Mercury 200 Hp EFI. Now I need to change the lower unit oil and the impeller - thanks for the excellent video that shows all the steps!

    I thought this was the best I have seen on YT but would suggest a few things. Firstly, when replacing impeller put key in with a dab of grease to hold it. Then when pushing housing down turn shaft clockwise. Also before installing lower unit put some grease on drive shaft splines but not on tip of shaft. André in Sydney

      @@SoundzAlive1 yea I did do all that I just didn’t really show me doing it in the vid just cus of my camera kept dying and wanted to get the vid done. If you watch some of my other vids you’ll see me say it and do those things to make things easier for people. I appreciate the feedback and comment and I’ll make sure to mention that to the people who aren’t aware of that kinda stuff in future vids cus it does make the jobs so much easier and proper when you know that kinda details. Have a great night I appreciate it!!!

    Maybe you should have added that you spin the driveshaft clockwise looking down on water pump in order to seat the pump housing on the impeller👍

      Just impeller Sierra 18-3017
      Complete kit Sierra 18-3517
      You can use both part numbers to converge to oem if you want

    I am going to be replacing my impeller for the first time on my Optimax 175 2 stroke. I noticed you did not mention 2-4-C on the splines or putting new gaskets on the impeller housing. Did I miss something or is this not something that is necessary.

    • @outboardfinatic
      @outboardfinatic  ปีที่แล้ว

      I do grease the splines I just didn’t record it for this video. 2-4-c works fine or any other type similar. Just not too much. If you get the kit you might as well change everything. I just replaced what I had and everything else seemed to be fine for awhile. But this was also recently just done by previous owner. So a lot of the gaskets were also still fine

      What direction did you turn the shaft to seat the impeller ?

    • @terrybryant
      @terrybryant ปีที่แล้ว

      @@stevenmartin3374 I am pretty sure I turned it the same direction the old one came off. I am very meticulous about details like that as I maintained aircraft for over 3 decades. However the issue I am having now is I am getting guardian mode and heat warning while running 25 to 35K RPM's after 10 minutes of running.

    How far forward does the shifter need to be?
    Before you remove the lower unit.

    • @outboardfinatic
      @outboardfinatic  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just shift it into forward it dosent matter how far you go or not cus it’ll just be forward shift w some throttle which won’t harm anything. Shifting it into forward just makes it easier to line up the driveshaft splines with the powerhead. Once you get the new pump in etc. all you wanna do is line it up and sometimes you may have to spin the prop counter clockewise to make it line up and it’ll slide right in

Thanks so much!! PLEASE HELP :)

    • @outboardfinatic
      @outboardfinatic  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      2 of them go to the side mounting studs. 1 to the front mounting stud, 2 go to the two studs located under the cavitation plate and one goes to the hidden bolt located under the anode

    • @outboardfinatic
      @outboardfinatic  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@smeg8557correct they tend to get stuck up there a lot. But no nothing should be on the inside from where you removed the motor. They def were just stuck up there and when you removed it is when they popped out. They are like recessed for the washers to sit nicely

      I’m assuming you’re talking about the impeller? I wouldn’t recommend that. Impellers are like 20 bucks to replace. If your gonna be going through it all might as well just replace it than tryna Jerry rig it for another season and risk harm to your engine
