Elmer's school glue does the trick, the stick. It washed right out and does not gum needle. And it's cheap.

OMG ive never met anyone who refuses to use a zipper foot like me!! I make tons of pouches, toiletry bags, Fanny packs, backpacks etc. I NEVER use a zipper foot. All of your techniques are 100% spot on what I do. I’m also totally self taught so it’s cool to see someone else do exactly what I do.

Just LOVE using the glue pen to place my zippers before sewing! This tip has made my work so much better and definitely more professional looking. Yes - the pen and its refills are just one more thing to buy but they are so well worth it and I am hooked. I also find using a glue pen to be time saving. Thanks so much for sharing.

Love these tips! Just what I needed to know! Thank you! I'd been using clips and a 1/4" foot (w/out the guide) and it never occurred to me to try this! I had used Elmer's glue in some instances, but it's messy and requires drying time...THIS will be so much easier! Thank you!

I just started using a zipper foot for some items but mostly use the regular foot. I have not used glue at all but think I will going forward. Nice tips you shared, there is always something new out there to learn. I have not done the one sided zipper, I just cut my zippers so far. Also I find using interface on fabric and liners makes it stand better also.

If you do not top stitch this lining, it will make nice straight corners instead of dented ones at the corner of each zipper side.

I put stabilizers in my bag, but when I sew my bag slips and I struggle to keep it straight. I always use the 1/4” foot but I’m using Lori holt zips and I find the 1/4 foot makes my bag joined to zip too big of a gap between teeth and fabric. I’m finding zippers more and more difficult to do. I even hand basted. I tried the glue method. The 1/4 tape for fabrics and I can’t be successful. Although your video is great and helpful, m still having the slipping around and struggling sewing zips. Please help. Thank you

I use a zipper foot when I want to get as close to zipper as possible. I find that the foot kinds butts up against the edge of the zipper and I don't have to worry about running over the zipper if i guide the fabric wrong.

I would like to see a video on how you sew the pouch together, using this zipper method. I've always used zipper tabs, which I hate. I don't like zipper foot, and the one that came with my machine, Sapphire 960 Q is so so wide, I just hate it.

Using glue, an extra long zipper, and a 1/4 in foot with guide all seem like wonderful tips. The one question I have, as a bit of a newbie...I like to finish my zippers with tabs, which is always done prior to sewing the zipper in and also requires that the zipper be shorter than the length of the pouch (zipper + tabs = length of pouch). How do you sew your zippers in when you use tabs? Thanks!
