    To avoid lifting off the ground I do pull downs 1 side at a time. It's also less strain on the door.

      I'd still have the problem with being pulled off the ground, but it would be more awkward being on one side. I think I'd also have to grab the band directly as it would be too long (too much slack) otherwise. If it is working for you though, and you don't mind the additional time it takes to complete the workout, that is awesome!

      @@GamerBody I wonder if putting one of those Nordic Curl under the door straps with the feet or across the legs would help? Ultimately, pull-ups and chin-ups are superior to band or cable pull downs, even if using an assistive band that way.

    You've been a big inspiration for my home gym set-up. Keep up the great work!

    In regards to the ab movement, have you thought of using an ab wheel?

    • @GamerBody
      @GamerBody  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Did you see my Amazon cart recently or something? Well, just know that I did purchase the wheels for the GEKU bar to try out this very thing. I have done ab rollouts A LOT in the past, so I may bring them back. My 1 issue with it, is that I am buying a piece of equipment that is only for 1 exercise. Otherwise, it is fine.

    I’ve discovered this as well. Hybridizing calisthenics and resistance bands is the best option for at home training. I have a squat rack with a mini bar and some dip/row/pushup arm attachments that I use and a few duffle bags of various sizes that I’ve filled with water bottles to achieve different weights. I use my bands and door anchors to simulate cable machine exercises, but generally do weighted variations of calisthenics.

      Having watched some stuff on bands, I’ve been giving them a go. For Pulldowns, I found that using the freestanding bar as an anchor and then kneeling and adding a slight forward lean so that my shoulders are underneath the anchor has me pulling in a more 1/4 circular movement. This feels very similar to a pull-up or chin-up where the torso has to move back and then forward as the arms come around. This isn’t bad.

    I do single arm lat pull downs. Yes it’s still attached to the door but I like it better and I’m using less force since I am only using one muscle group then switch to the other.

      That works as long as you don't mind the extra time doing one side then the other. Also make sure you still keep in good form as you get into the stronger bands.

    Which is better for joints, resistance bands or free weights, especially when going heavy?

    • @GamerBody
      @GamerBody  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It really depends how you use them. If you are throwing free weights around and creating peak forces on the joints at the end ranges of motion, then RB will be better. With that said, if you aren't training that way, both will still work great and be safe to use - granted you are sticking to resistance you can control and complete each exercise in good form.

    Also, do you prefer resistance bands over the Speediance or do you still feel a machine or functional trainer is the best way to build muscle in the long run?

    • @GamerBody
      @GamerBody  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think the Speediance is an excellent machine, that costs a lot for the average person. You also have to rely on plugging it in and updating it regularly, but if none of those things are an issue, Speediance is amazing. Resistance Bands are a cheaper option that is portable and pretty user friendly. With my setup, it is pretty easy to get going while not spending a crazy amount of money. It will really come down to which you prefer, and/or can afford.

    For back why not just do bent over rows or seated rows with bands?

    • @GamerBody
      @GamerBody  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I do them as well. However, I do think everyone should have a vertical pulling movement such as pull-downs in their workout as a basic movement pattern. Pull-ups are my next option. I love doing seated rows with resistance bands and I have a few videos on them.

      @@GamerBody ya good point. I do pullups of different variations but pull downs are good to sub in. Had a funny thought about ratchet strapping yourself down to a heavy bench or something for pull downs lol.

    Gonna take a lot of bands to lift my big butt off the ground 😅

  • @jonastg4908

    So you basically built your physique only using bands , right?

    • @GamerBody
      @GamerBody  หลายเดือนก่อน

      No. I have used quite a few things. Majority though was just bodyweight and dumbbells. I have also switched between resistance bands and the Speediance Gym Monster in the last 2 years or so (kind of rotate them). My goal is to find options for people based on price, space, and if they want to travel or not. The principles of my training apply regardless of the equipment used. When I 1st started I used the Gym (about 3 years) then sick 9-5 and got sick of traveling/waiting for equipment so I moved to home workouts.

    Clickbait thumbnail got me thinking you received a face shot from a broken band... Hope that's not the case.
    I'll like to hear your opinion on resistance bands pricing because I'm yet to spend more than 11 USD per set (seriously) wether that's pull up or tube style bands and they hold for almost a year with weekly abuse (I have about 5 or 6 sets, I use a different set per day). As a matter of fact I've been working out for about 2 years and only 3 or so tube style bands had snapped on me.

    • @GamerBody
      @GamerBody  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Pricing is a bit high, but Im willing to pay more to prevent snapped bands. 2-3 snapped bands in 2 years is more than I'd like to happen. The worst Ive had is a band snapped across my back without a shirt one, and that was horrible. Ive snapped a couple since, but avoided it hitting me - luckily. With my setup now, loop bands are the best, and provide the most resistance for the exercises I am performing. The UnderSun bands did the best for me overall so far, for the price.
