I live in a camper full-time. We tow an 8x12x6 enclosed trailer. I use rogue bars/weights, stored on wall-mounted posts. A floor-mounted bar/swivel for dynamic movements. I have Bowflex Selecttech dumbbells, and I use an adjustable squat/bench rack, just tall enough to meet my needs. I use a Keppi 1000 Bench Pro adjustable bench. and for pull ups, I use a freestanding Kahnh Trinh folding pull-up/gymnastics set-up, that folds flat in seconds, and can be wall-hung, or just leaned against a wall. (I use it outside due my 6ft ceiling limitation.) All can be had for around 2 grand new (with plates), even less off FB or CL, used. If I can do this in a trailer, should be a breeze anywhere with walls and an 8ft ceiling.

Outstanding advice, and mirrors my home gym journey!
Spinlocks, simple treadmill, resistance bands with an Amazon power tower is how I started.
Over a long period of time upgraded to Rep PR-5000 dual Athenas, a waterrower, the PowerBlock EXPs and an Ironmaster SuperBench Pro V2. No major adds since.
The starter equipment was used for close to five years before the upgrades.

I'm in the process of putting my home gym together, and after watching countless (and I mean COUNTLESS) videos on the topic, to the point where my whole personality is now home gyms. This is the first video that convinced me that I dont need a power / half rack. I have a 10 feet by 10 feet space to work with, and I'm sold on the idea of a cable tower, plates, dumbell and a really good versatile bench.
You gave me LOTS to think about. I TRULLY trully appreciate it. I would have made a big mistake.

I still go to a commercial gym (on a great, cheap rate from when it opened) but I have adjustable dumbbells+bench+bands at home. Going hybrid is underrated. I can still go to the gym for specialized equipment/big lifts but I can keep in the accessory work from home where its more schedule friendly, so I don't have to lock myself down for 90+ minute sessions.

    • @sashanapalme
      @sashanapalme 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

Agree. Folks brag about canceling gym memberships… hybrid allows you to train how you want and to switch it up. Even if you have all the equipment at home. Busy day - use at home. Have more time, feel like seeing ppl around you, use the sauna - go to the gym.

Its amazing how little you can get away with. Ive been a gym member for 40 years and recently decided to go the home gym route. I bought a set of Trulap 90 lb dumbells and nice rep fitness bench. I have stairs so I use them for calfs and some other exercises. I can get a full workout with just this equipment but ill probably buy a pull down device. So far I have about $1200 in this little amount of equipment and where I live a yearly gym membership is only about $250 so home gyms are not financially the best decision but you save on gas and driving time and you get a lot of convenience at home.

I will say out of all of these, the Power blocks dumbbells have been the best thing ever. I was fortunate to find a gym store not named Dick's or Academy, and they had the 90lb quiet set for like $550. Bought those and immediately sold the archaic dumbbell bars. Hell, I had the Olympic size version and that sucker was a pain in the ass...well mostly on my shoulders. But I wish I knew about the rings because my dumbass bought the TRX a few years ago. Lesson learned! Lol

Great video thanks Gluck! Love the minimalist content for those with smaller spaces. Think Rogue’s Jammer pull up bar is a ultimate pick for a pull up bar in a small space; robust enough to attach rings/ bands too as well! Similarly, the Voltra looks good for minimalist ultimate cable work particularly if against a single upright. Love this type of content!

Great video. You can actually have a home gym without a barbell and full rack in separate building or garage. I have almost all the things from this video in budget versions, but no cables. I use wall anchors and resistance bands to imitate cables.
Lately I really enjoy kettlebell, I only have one 16Kg, it is more playfull than dumbbells or bands. But if you have little space and more money, you can get adjustable kettlebell that looks the same as competition kettlebell.
I'm 42 and want something simple, and kettlebell is simple. I dont count reps, I do one kettlebell exercise for 10 minutes in intervals 30 sec exercise 30 sec rest, or different intervals for some exercises. Than do another excise for 10 minutes. I try get at least 30 minutes per day, or some 3.5 hours per week.

Compact/foldable power rack - the kind the is screwed to the wall only takes 20" of space and gives a butload of options for any barbel exercise, as well as a place to hand you plates, dips, pull-ups, and rows.
Put a pull-up bar on the opposite wall, and you have a basis for a crossover, using pulleys.

I say this because thats what im working with for the past three weeks. I sold my home and lost out on three homes to buy do to bidding wars. Currently staying with family and crammed these few items i pulled out of storage into a corner of their garage. This light gym provides some options for convenience but last week i had to join planet fitness for cardio options with the heat wave. I hadn't been there for 6 years and the equipment is the same as before only worn out but still in use. I miss my garage gym. Hopefully i will get this new house. All-in-one rack + smith + dual functional trainer combo:
    Budget - Mikolo M4
    Premium - MAXUM Fitness SX2
    FID bench:
    Budget - TYRSEN/Fostoy 1,200lb bench
    Premium - Keppi Bench 5000
    Barbell:
Budget - Philosophy Gym Rackable 72" Olympic Barbell
Premium - Rogue 29mm Stump Bar
    Plates:
Cheapest Iron Plates you can find. Signature Fitness (a.k.a BalanceFrom) sells decent ones brand new.
    Adjustable Dumbbells:
Budget - Core Fitness adjustable + loadable handles for heavy weights
Premium - Snodes + Iron Masters for heavy weights + 1.25lb & 2.5lb magnetic adders (would probably go with Reppins if they didn't have the partial cage design, also waiting on reviews to be sure)
    Ankle straps:
any with good padding and additional strap under foot for extra secure attachment
    Slant board:
    Everymate
With that you can do almost every exercise you could in a standard commercial gym, but it all should fit comfortably in a 12ft x 12ft space with 8-9ft ceiling.
Ultra-minimalist would just be the bench, dumbbells, and a door-frame pull-up bar.

Great video. I agree with all your choices.
For DB, I am leaning more towards buy once cry once, and would get the adjustable set you want. I use my adjustable DBs almost more than anything in my gym.

I use a pull up/dip rack from Gravity Fitness and then attach rings to it. Then I have a foldable bench (first on my list to upgrade) and a pair of adjustable Dumbbells. I can do everything with this except maybe a good leg workout. (Split squats do work just fine)

This is my garage gym set up.
    -flat bench - 100$
-spin lock dumbbells with weight plates up 80lbs per dumbbell - 250$
    -set of loops bands -50$
-set of tube bands - 90$
-heavy landscaping stones - used for heavy goblet type deadlifts AND for raising my bench up to do incline bench and flies - FREE
-other small stones for grip - pinching for time - FREE
-home made sandbags - sand from home depot and canvas bags from Amz - 30$
-50L gas canisters filled with water for heavy carries 50$
    -one adjustable kettlebell 8 to 40 lbs. - 180$
Total spent is about 750 $.
No money spent on embellishing garage. It is a dimly-lit, humid, non-climate controlled basement garage.

Just get 2 or 3 sets of spin locks and a couple weights of ebay. This way you load each set differently for different exercises ans will only have to change weights between workouts as you get stronger.

inspire body lift bl1 i have does everything except for squats, is like using gym machines and it cost less than the adjustable dumbbells mentioned here if you find a good deal on it. Its comfy and secure, and gets very high ratings if you look at reviews. Some resistancebands and you should cover the squats too. I dont get why this rarely is mentioned on these reviews since it is fairly low cost using yourself as a weight magazine +150% of that, and you get up to 440 / 200 kg resistance on it (you just put some weightplates on it, its built to deal with that).
