    Really glad I found your vids, man. I basically copied the core of your system, including the Geku bar and board, and it’s been great. Maybe for someone the X3 or Harambe is worth it, but anyone just starting out (like I was two months ago) should begin with a setup like yours.

    As soon as I saw the new bar I thought "Gamerbody's gonna love this"!
    Got it last week myself and have been LOVING it. The knurling is a great touch that makes me reach for the bar more - just makes it more pleasant to use.
    I found the new hooks make it a bit easier to slip my big bands in & out. Plus they're way smoother than the old ones which put small cuts on my bands until I filed the edges smooth.
    Glad you're happy with it. Your setup and videos have been a big inspiration to me!

      It is the #1 reason I have not purchased either the X3 bar or Harambe. I think they are cool designs, but just too expensive and I can make one with J hook handles and other options for far less then they are asking. Materials may be more premium, but how premium do I need them to be if mine are holding up just fine now, for way less.

    Going to give the J Bryant bar a try, it comes in segments that allow a 30" and 38" length, aluminum like this, and the ends have a flat hook which I'm hoping holds it in the middle better. If that doesn't work out I will have to try this Geku.

    • @rayjbb1494
      @rayjbb1494 13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Wondering how you're getting along with the J Bryant bar? These seem to be your two best recommendations at the moment so a comparison would be great of pros and cons?

    • @BryantFong
      @BryantFong 12 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@rayjbb1494 I'm happy with it, set at the 30" length. I think you're splitting hairs between them as long as you get the aluminum one. I don't see the aluminum geku on amazon, but still see the j-bryant one for sale. I still use dumbbells more often because I find resistance bands a bit finicky. In particular, the bands tend to move (e.g. for chest exercises), and there's a relatively narrow window between no resistance at all and crazy max resistance. Finding that window for each exercise basically means you need a way to record or remember it, and then you have setup time since sometimes you double up the band and sometimes you don't. It can actually be easier without the bar, since if you're gripping the band with your hands it's easier to move your hand a few inches either way to adjust tension. But this makes it all hard to judge progress since it's not the same every time. All in all, I still use it on off days in between workouts with weights.
      Long story short, for the bar, get a metal one and you should be good.

      It's been on and off. This happens with all the newer GEKU products as I think they have a limited supply. The 1st bar and board went out of stock all the time. It should improve though as demand continues to stay up and manufacturing gets better (at least from what I have seen).

  • @mrmellow77
    @mrmellow77 หลายเดือนก่อน

    It seems that resistance band training has gotten to the point where it can get expensive depending on if you get a training system like X3, and now there's even a machine out there. One of the things I appreciate about your videos is you provide information on equipment that won't break the bank, yet still gets the job done. I'm currently using an Innstar bar that you reviewed in a prior video with Clench carabiners, but I may give this bar a go.

    • @GamerBody
      @GamerBody  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The new machine is dumb IMO. All I can picture are bands snapping everywhere. It feels like overkill to me and won't fit in my home gym setup anyways.

  • @rustyboltskpears368

    I ended up buying the larger hooks that are compatible with the original bar also, to replace the smaller ones it came with , which had bent on my original geku bar. These hooks appear to be a lot more durable and so far have proved much stronger. I am now happy with my originally purchased Geku bar however I'm kinda jealous of how the new metalic bar looks much more aesthetically pleasing. I may give in and replace the bar at some point . A thumbs up from me so far.

    • @GamerBody
      @GamerBody  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      For the hooks, are they the curved ones that come with the silver bar? Or are they just the standard triangles that bent on you?

    • @rustyboltskpears368

      @@GamerBody They are the same as the larger hooks you get with the chrome bar, that are both sturdier, for some reason but also accommodating a wider band much more easily.

    Hello Mr. Marstaller (man, that was formal)
    I was wondering if you have made a video about anchoring bands, I couldn't find any.
    I'm fortunate enough to have a pair of hammock hooks welded to the inner beam of my concrete wall, but obviously that's only good for attaching bands to an upper point, for lower I have to be creative...
    Honestly I think with time, those door anchors will damage my doorframe...

    • @GamerBody
      @GamerBody  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Im actually moving completely away from any wall/door anchors. The closest thing I have now for an "anchor" is with doorframe pull-ups using the Crossgrips. I also don't like to use the door anchor as it can damage your door, and I found that after a certain band, it pulls me off the ground anyways.

  • @johnferro2314

    Great review to be fair if it is bending and locking with what you consider heavy deadlifts and a 3.5 inch hook it can not compare with those other systems.
    But looks like a nice little light travel system.
    It would cost me over 1k in hooks replacing them after every deadlift day.

    • @GamerBody
      @GamerBody  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You could go with my old hook system. That once can support an insane amount of resistance. I've never bent any of my hooks so far (just saw someone did in a review on Amazon) and I combine bands all the time.
      Here is a video of the old triangle hooks I used. You would have to buy the ring attachments from GEKU to use them, but might be an option: th-cam.com/video/z0oJX8ui1cw/w-d-xo.html

    Hi Derrik,
    What do you think about which bar you'd recommend to a 70yo grandma starting her first workout regimen? It seems that the older GEKU bar is significantly narrower than the newer aluminum bar, no?? So, I'd be thinking that with her smaller hands, that might be affecting her grip just a bit too much than the smaller, more narrow variant. Let me know what you think :) and as another commenter mentioned already, the larger hooks can be bought and are compatable with the older bar, pretty cool. Thanks for this review, really awesome!!

      Darrik*, I'm sorry bro. lol

    • @GamerBody
      @GamerBody  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      With the knurling on the new bar I think that one is still better. However...I would honestly recommend a 70yo grandma go with dumbbells. The main reason is how easy they are to pick up and use. My recommendation would be the Core Fitness Adjustable Dumbbells which just go to 50lbs. If used correctly, no more resistance will be needed for that age. If you still feel like going with resistance bands, then I'd still go with the newer bar as the difference is very small, but the upgrade, to me, is worth the extra price. I don't think hand size will be an issue here. If all else fails, return to Amazon and get the original bar :)

    • @GamerBody

      I think the Serious Steel Bands are good (after washing them to get rid of the residue). They are pricey and the jump in resistance from one to the next can be a lot. However, if you are looking for a lot of resistance, I think they are great.
      With that said, to price for value, I think the UnderSun are my favorite. Both are great from my testing so far though so can't really go wrong either way. I may run another test with just the Serious Steel bands after this test (the poll voted for UnderSun in the test, but it was close).

      If it is just bands, feel free to go with a cheaper option that is similar. Don't go too cheap as they will likely snap. Also, look into the layering type as the way the latex is layered matters in making bands more durable.

      If you can get that twist connector piece out of them middle section, this is possible. Mine is stuck though and I will need tools to unscrew it. It isn't that big an issue for me, but if you can unscrew yours and not get stuck, it is certainly an option.

      The only reports I've seen is that some of the hooks have bent on people. I'm lucky enough where it hasn't happened yet (crossing fingers) but that seems to be the biggest issue as of right now. I might try getting the circle end-hooks and then adding my own triangle links from my INNSTAR bar and see if that feels good or not. It is nice that some triangle links come with it, but only if they can support the resistance.
