If you’re still looking, Biossance has the Vitamin C Rose Oil with Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate for $72. It’s formulated with Squalane as the base. Loved the video btw

After using the addition of vit C and retinol in my skincare routine for 2 weeks. I can see a big change on my skin: Skintone more even and i can feel the skin more pump. Love all of your videos. Thanks for that 🥰🥰🥰
I was aware that vitamin C and copper are inversely proportional to each other. I had copper poisoning from my copper IUD (Paragard) and I was researching natural remedies because I was sick and having trouble finding someone to remove it for me. I started taking a very high dose of vitamin C pills and I did experience some relief from my symptoms. Ladies, I hope this helps even one person. If you have a copper IUD and you're not feeling right, it's not in your head and you're not crazy, even if you've begun to think you are.
Yes! It has squalane in it and that's why it's oily. But this is what I've been using for months, as well as their Ascorbic Acid 8% in Alpha Arbutin 2% and I have been noticing a drastic improvement in the evenness of my skintone.

The Acure Brightening Vitamin C & Ferulic Acid Oil Free Serum has Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate and is only $20 at Target. I just started using it but I like it so far.
The ordinary has a serum with tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate! It's called: ascorbyl tetraisopalmitate 20% in vitamin f. It's around 10 bucks! Only thing is its oil based. I prefer water based. But still, it's a lightweight oil.
Agreed. I think it isn’t lipophilic so people with oilier skins would not have great penetration of the product as the natural oils would keep it out. Lipophilic means fat loving. Oil is fat. Get it?
Please please can you do something on what ingrdients to avoid? Like alcohols, parfum etc? I get so lost because some products have good stuff and bad stuff and it's such a nightmare and I am sick of not know what to buy anymore.
She use a lot of products with alcohols.. It's not that bad for your skin, they use this ingredient in skincare to help with the penetration of your product it goes deeper Same for fragrances it's not bad for everyone. She use some products with fragrance
Yes I feel exactly the same way. It's so CONFUSING. There's this product for that and another to fix that problem! Ugh! Makes me want to pull my hair out due to frustration!! Plus, I have to shop at the drugstore for my products bc I don't own a credit card and I also don't have much money to spend and I noticed that skin care products are very EXPENSIVE! Loved this video super informative!! Would love if you also did a pt. 2 maybe and talked about Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate, Bis-Glyceryl Ascorbate, and 3-O-Ethyl Ascorbic Acid!
I’m literally 😯 right now. I follow another Dermatologist here on TH-cam and she always says the Vita C is a gimmick. Says that there is barely any studies that show skin benefits from Vita C and doesn’t understand why people are obsessed with it. And says that if it isn’t Ascorbic Acid or L-Ascorbic Acid, then it’s useless. I’m dumbfounded lol.
If it's de dray, If I remember correctly She said that there is evidence for pure vit c, but it is very unstable. She also said that there is not much evidence for derivatives.
@@danaso2567 No it’s not Dr. Dray. I don’t even remember the woman’s name now. It was a small channel and I had only been subbed for a few months. I unsubbed the next day after this video because this person did a video “Debunking the Myth of Vitamin C” and was pretty much shitting on Dr. Dray, Dr. Idriss, and Canssandra Bankson. She wouldn’t say their names but it was obvious who she was talking about by the videos they had done that week. People were questioning whether she was really a doctor and she was arguing with people in the comments. It was a lot of drama, and what I assume was trolling, so I dipped out. I will try to find the channel again and put the channel name in another comment but no, I love Dr. Dray.
Vanicream is one of the few brands that doesn’t irritate my skin. I just got their Vit C serum and tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate is the fourth ingredient. I’m already seeing great results after 10 days somehow!
@@parmelar SO well. I was really not expecting much of a difference. Their packaging seems pretty awesome too. The tube doesn't seem to retain air (it just keeps slowly getting smaller) and has a nice pump on the end. From their product description: "Packaged in an airless pump, this formula is much less likely to oxidize or change color, so it lasts longer than many other Vitamin C serums." I believe it.
@@sedaliacole8734 thank you sm for the detailed info!! and yes, pumps are VASTLY superior to serums using droppers. i'm so glad to hear it's working wonderfully for you, i'll definitely check it out for myself soon!

Cosrx, purito, axis-y, benton, then i met you, isntree, pyungkang yul etc aren’t “heavily fragrant” lmao. If anything, most of their products are fragrance free or at the very bottom of the list 🙄. And these are some of the most popular brands too amongst the skincare community.
Thanks for sharing a real talk regarding skincare Doc. I learned a lot from you. I am on my early 40s and started trying products mid 30s. I know its not too late yet to take care of aging skin. Getting hook up to your skin care informational vlogs.
SO Interesting, thank you! I'd love to hear your take on laser therapy and chemical peels that are professionally administered at beauty salons/dermatologists. It gets quite overwhelming when there are so many options for skin tightening, radiance (brightening) and even tone.
What about the following products that have tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate: Paula's choice superantioxidant serum and The Ordinary's ascorbyl tetraisopalmitate with vitamin F? They are at a much lower price point but are they effective?
You know what I do, I mix 2 products by the Ordinary. A liquid ferulic acid 3% and a powder of 100% L-ascorbic acid...I do it 2/3 times a month...the powder has a very small spoon...I put nearly one spoon with 5 drops and it is a fresh serum of vitamin C...it works for me
I have the Ordinary’s THA. It feels oily on the skin, so I like to use it as the final step at night. I find my skin looks more even the mornings after I apply it.
Dr I - you are the best! Great info and presented with your natural charm. So helpful. I just bought a sample size of the Skinceuticals - I couldn't possibly afford to buy the full size and actually thought to myself it is better to buy the tiny size so I can try the product and not worry about oxidisation. When you covered it here it was very validating form me as a novice. Thanks so much 😊

I absolutely loved every part of it, thank you fo sharing on the the different types of Vitamin C and their benefits as well as how they work. You are officially my favourite TH-camr and Doctor (after my GP of course) Also can't get over how beautiful and funny you are
Vichy is useless. I tested Vichy, martiderm and isdin. My favorites are martiderm by far (they hydrate more and have more vit c). You also have svr with 20%.
You’re awesome Doc! Right now I am using the Timeless brand I bought off Amazon. It’s 20% Vit C, Ferulic Acid, and Vit E. It oxidizes quickly like you said so I make sure to use it every morning. Then my 2nd step is whatever hyaluronic acid I have, then 3rd moisturizer, and lastly the 4th sunscreen.
You are an icon. PS Ghost Democracy has an 18% THD serum for $34! Yes it’s in a dropper bottle, which I know you hate, but at least it’s a stable form of vitamin c in an anhydrous base!
Vitamin C We get most of our vitamin C from diet, but only a small percentage makes its way to our skin. That's why topical vitamin C is important to feed our skin. □ How does Vitamin C help? 1. Antioxidant: Something that helps to block oxidative stress. Oxidative stress is the world, pollution and sun which breaks down the collagen. But vitamin C neutralizes that, so collagen won't break as fast. It also helps to make your sunscreen work better because it decreases sun damage. It's a great adjunct to sunscreen. 2. It boosts collagen production. Because vitamin C is a cofactor for two enzymes Lysylhydroxylase and prolylhydroxylase. These are needed to cross-link collagen. 3. Vitamin C evens out pigmentation. It eats up the copper which is used in the reaction to make melanin. ● 2 forms of Vitamin C: 1. Active: L-Ascorbic acid (8-20%) : Very unstable in high temp, High pH, Oxygen. Not ideal for oily, acne-prone skin. Use 10% if you have sensitive skin. Vitamin E and Ferulic acid stabilizes it. Recommendation- CeraVe skin renewing Vitamin C serum, L'Oreal Paris Revitalift derm intensives vitamin C serum treatment. 2. Inactive: Also known as esters, get activated on skin, more stable, tend to penetrate skin better (was tested in vitro, not in vivo). Most fav - Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate: As beneficial as Ascorbic Acid. Good choice for acne-prone skin (1-5%). Recommendation- No 7 protect & perfect intense advanced serum. Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate: • Most stable. ANTIOXIDANT PROPERTIES ARE IFFY • POOR ABSORPTION WHICH MAKES IT A BETTER CHOICE FOR SENSITIVE SKIN Recommendation- Glossier Super Glow Vitamin C + Magnesium serum. ASCORBYL GLUCOSIDE: Shows Similar benefits to Ascorbic Acid in vitro. •MORE STUDIES NEEDED IN VIVO Recommendation- The ordinary Ascorbyl Glucoside solution 12% Ascorbyl Palmitate: Basically useless. Tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate is a stable, oil-soluble form of Vitamin C. It's known for its ability to penetrate the skin more effectively compared to regular ascorbic acid, allowing it to reach deeper layers. This ingredient is often used in skincare products for its antioxidant properties, helping to brighten skin, reduce signs of aging, and protect against environmental damage. Beware if you have sensitive skin. It's a winner but very expensive.

Love that different price range options were given! I’ve wanted to try out Vit C for a while now and just got the L’Oreal one. I was also considering the No7 and CeraVe but my store didn’t have them. I’m just glad I looked at the ingredient list for the Naturium vitamin c complex because it had rave reviews but contains good, which I recently found out in severely allergic to. Glad I didn’t put that on my face!

So many of the other dermatologists on YT are DRYYYYYYYYY and down right miserable to be watch… one of them I have to listen to with headphones because my husband can’t stand her voice, lol…. 😬😬😬
Not to talk bad about others, there is something for everyone, right? And you are FOR ME!!! Lol. Thank you for the time you take to make these, they help!!!
Shereen you are my absolute favourite skin care expert on TH-cam (and I seriously think I've seen most of them!) , THANK YOU for all you do!!! 💜💜💜
Is she still one of your favorites 2 years later ??😂 I started skin care research only this year lol
Finally there's someone talking about the different derivates in detail! I'm so glad you started your TH-cam channel dr. Idriss. By the way, Facetheory uses sodium ascorbyl phosphate, I love their products!
Where do you find the smaller bottles of the skinceuticals vitamin c?
Not only are you educating and very informative, you are funny. Love your delivery!
I was scrolling through my recommended and was like, "Another skincare video. I've binge watched more than enough of these." And was about to go right pass this video until I saw how glowy her skin is.
Just discovered you and I love you already. I’m so grateful for the dermatologists on youtube, thank you for taking the time to educate us
TOTALLY AGREE!!
I love HER energy! Doc you're a whole vibe! Much love 💕
If you’re still looking, Biossance has the Vitamin C Rose Oil with Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate for $72. It’s formulated with Squalane as the base. Loved the video btw
Love the Biossance and been using it for 2+ years! The Sunday Riley breaks me out for some reason.
Or you can DIY your own as per Lab Muffin’s recipe which costs wayyy less and works just fine. No irritation and can see a difference within a week (not like a hugee difference, but hyperpigmentation did fade)

Your channel inspired me to finally make a skincare document with my night & morning routines, notable ingredients, favorite products, layering... etc. I guess I'm officially a skincare nerd now. Thank you so much for the amazing information
Ditto this.
Hi, would you be able to make a video for rosacea? And maybe what products can be used in various stages? Like when you only have milk redness on the cheeks and a few broken vessels. Thank you 🙏
yes yes please @
ShereeneIdriss please something on rosaceea....especially rossacea that appeared later in life or with those that have broken their skin barrier
Same!
Azelaic acid - 15% finacea for example
ON IT MY LIL NERD 🤓❤️
Look into Osmosis MD Rescue and some of their internal supplements for roseace
I’ve watched so many vitamin c videos and this is hands down the easiest to understand and most straight forward. Thank you!! Subscribed!!
I’m binge watching your videos!
I have so much respect for you and your words are close enough to holy and I pay close attention.
Thanks a ton! 🙏🏽
Just for everyone: The Timeless vitamin C serum is also combined with vitamin E and feurulic (sorry for the spelling of that if it's wrong 🤣) I've used one up and will repurchase, it's brilliant
LOVE timeless.
Thought so, I appreciate how it's packed.
Need to try this ine
@@shereeneidriss it also comes in a pump in an opaque plastic bottle. You'll love it. No droppers!!!
I love it too! I just bought a mini fridge for my vanity to keep it in. It doesn't hurt my sensitive skin like some others and I see the glow after use. Love this stuff!
Dr. Idriss is the most beautiful dermatologist. Your skin is amazing without a full face of makeup.
She REALLY has flawless skin, I think she has the best complexion of all the You Tube skinfluencers, even the other Derms! One of the girls on here has a PhD in Chemistry (Chemistry and Physics have to be the HARDEST College majors ever!)
I love that she is addresses the shelf life of vit c. So important to know!
Honesty she’s the hero we didn’t ask for but needed anyway🥰
After using the addition of vit C and retinol in my skincare routine for 2 weeks. I can see a big change on my skin: Skintone more even and i can feel the skin more pump. Love all of your videos. Thanks for that 🥰🥰🥰
Can you share the products you started using?
Stop slamming the hand ✋ it starts getting obnoxious.
@@Wouldntyouliketoknow1111 yes do tell.
The Ordinary's Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate 20% serum contains Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate and it's around AU$25!
how was it? Is it good?
@@marelyn745 I used it, it’s great but it has an oily texture
@@prabjot2832 ohh okay, thanks for the info!
Yes! It has squalane in it and that's why it's oily. But this is what I've been using for months, as well as their Ascorbic Acid 8% in Alpha Arbutin 2% and I have been noticing a drastic improvement in the evenness of my skintone.
You and Dermangelo are the only ones whose skin advice I listen to. So knowledgeable and straightforward but so fun. Thanks for another great video!

Hows it going? Ive only recently started taking skin care seriously and I'm anxious to see the results already...
Skin Nerd here! Every time I think “Dr. Shereene, I got this already, this video is for beginners”. Then I hear something that has me 😳 like, my skin gets red after I use my Skinceuticals C E Ferulic and maaaaaaaaybe it’s oxidized and is no longer shelf stable.

Wonderful, educational video. I love the way you explain it in a way anyone can understand.
Amazing vid! I love how you are able to summarize so much information in such a short time and in a very simple way for everybody to understand!
The Acure Brightening Vitamin C & Ferulic Acid Oil Free Serum has Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate and is only $20 at Target. I just started using it but I like it so far.
Your videos are so informative, clear, and straight to the point. Thank you!
The ordinary has a serum with tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate! It's called: ascorbyl tetraisopalmitate 20% in vitamin f.
It's around 10 bucks! Only thing is its oil based. I prefer water based. But still, it's a lightweight oil.
I love it! Perfect for my dry skin
Your personality makes me feel like im listening to my big sis giving me a mini ted talk. Love you 💛🧡❤
I wish you would have elaborated on why L- ascorbic acid isn’t ideal for people with acne. Loved the video though! Can’t wait for the next one!
I think because it can be very irritating, and acne prone skin tends to be sensitive
Agreed. I think it isn’t lipophilic so people with oilier skins would not have great penetration of the product as the natural oils would keep it out. Lipophilic means fat loving. Oil is fat. Get it?
YOU HAVE THE (second) MOST BEAUTIFUL SKIN THAT I’VE EVER SEEN !
Please, I need a full morning and night routine Dr.
Please please can you do something on what ingrdients to avoid? Like alcohols, parfum etc? I get so lost because some products have good stuff and bad stuff and it's such a nightmare and I am sick of not know what to buy anymore.
She use a lot of products with alcohols.. It's not that bad for your skin, they use this ingredient in skincare to help with the penetration of your product it goes deeper
Same for fragrances it's not bad for everyone.
I wish someone could just make a simple am/pm skincare routine for me to follow because just when I think I know what I am doing, I don't! Lol.
Found this video really educating, helps to understand the confusing world of skincare ingredients. Thank you! Please may you do a video on redness and capillaries on skin?
Hi Dr.! Views on egyptian magic cream, it contains five ingredients including olive oil, beeswax, honey, and two others
PLEASE post an updated sunscreen video with your favorite options! ALSO a step by step morning routine and night routine! the order of all these products is confusing! thank you!!!!
So happy I found you!
Could you please make a video on menopause routine?! So much expensive and useless stuff there for us - who are trying not to get old!))
You are so educated. I love your delivery and your interest and how it comes through. So many Derms and Aestheticians as well; don’t consider oxidation, packaging, heat and light.
This is my first video and I’m obsessed. When she said if you want to spend money, I’ll give you my Venmo account I knew I was hooked 😂😂
Loved this video super informative!! Would love if you also did a pt. 2 maybe and talked about Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate, Bis-Glyceryl Ascorbate, and 3-O-Ethyl Ascorbic Acid!
The production quality on this is outstanding, title too 😂
Lmao I’m trying ok?!? One woman show ☝️
I love the Sunday Riley one. I got it as a sample but I fell in love with it instantly.
I don’t know what it is about how you explain things. I finally understand vitamin C and which one is best for me. Instantly subscribed!
Dr. Dray?
Dray.
I just love you Dr. You're my bias with all these wannabe skincare gurus! Keep blooming with grace.. Please don't stop enlightening us. Cheeers 😊😘🥂🥂
Vanicream is one of the few brands that doesn’t irritate my skin. I just got their Vit C serum and tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate is the fourth ingredient. I’m already seeing great results after 10 days somehow!
how is your skin doing with your new vit c serum ???
@@parmelar SO well. I was really not expecting much of a difference. Their packaging seems pretty awesome too. The tube doesn't seem to retain air (it just keeps slowly getting smaller) and has a nice pump on the end. From their product description: "Packaged in an airless pump, this formula is much less likely to oxidize or change color, so it lasts longer than many other Vitamin C serums." I believe it.

They are at a much lower price point but are they effective?
I personally love THD ascorbate! Works very well for me
You know what I do, I mix 2 products by the Ordinary. A liquid ferulic acid 3% and a powder of 100% L-ascorbic acid...I do it 2/3 times a month...the powder has a very small spoon...I put nearly one spoon with 5 drops and it is a fresh serum of vitamin C...it works for me

Thoughts on vitamin c ampoules (e.g. Vichy LiftActiv Peptide-C Anti-Ageing Ampoules - 10% Vitamin C)
I have used them and they are really good. Susan Yara talks about them on her channel.
I would recommend them or those from ISDIN they are so worth it, However Vichy is slighly cheaper
Throw the hyaluronic acid serum away. It's pointless.

Vitamin C
We get most of our vitamin C from diet, but only a small percentage makes its way to our skin.
● 2 forms of Vitamin C:
Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate:
• Most stable.
ANTIOXIDANT PROPERTIES ARE IFFY
• POOR ABSORPTION WHICH MAKES IT A BETTER CHOICE FOR SENSITIVE SKIN
Recommendation- Glossier Super Glow Vitamin C + Magnesium serum.
ASCORBYL GLUCOSIDE:
Shows Similar benefits to Ascorbic Acid in vitro.
•MORE STUDIES NEEDED IN VIVO
Recommendation- The ordinary Ascorbyl Glucoside solution 12%
Ascorbyl Palmitate: Basically useless.
I just recently found you and LOVE YOU!!! Just bought Sunday Riley one to give a shot. Thanks doc 💕
