    I went from a GT30 to a GTX30 gen 2. Gain 500 rpm of spool and 100+ HP at the same PSI.

    • @COMotorsports
      @COMotorsports  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yeah very good increase in that model for sure. The gtx3071 is a great turbo.

    • @MeltingRubberZ28
      @MeltingRubberZ28 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      So this genuinely confuses me from a thermodynamics standpoint. If the boost pressure is the same, intake temperature is the same, the only difference could be resistance in the exhaust to spin the turbo....? Flow into the engine shouldn't change if it's just a turbo swap...how is there a HP gain? Is it just that the larger turbos at the same PSI are generating that much less heat, a bit less resistance due to more advanced technology in the turbine?

    • @COMotorsports
      @COMotorsports  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@MeltingRubberZ28 it's pumps more air, more flow, less resistance. So although similar size it's design design makes it work like a large pump.

    • @luispadilla1675
      @luispadilla1675 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@MeltingRubberZ28 on GT/GTX turbine is the same, like a 30R. Compressors on the GTX are the ones that become more efficient. On the G series, both turbine and compressor wheel are more efficient. Meaning they are smaller, and are way more efficient at higher boost levels compared to old version. Efficient turbine = less energy required, efficient compressor = less friction, less heat, more flow mass rather than PSI

    • @MeltingRubberZ28
      @MeltingRubberZ28 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@luispadilla1675 the struggle I have though is if your intercooler is functioning properly the temperature shouldn't be drastically different so efficiency is a fairly moot point at least from a temperature standpoint. Less drag on the motor seems to make sense, but once again I would think that's a pretty marginal amount. 100+ HP seems pretty drastic. I guess it's just the sum of all those things adding up though.
      I think my main concern is the engine *shouldn't* be actually "consuming" more air at the same boost levels, correct? There is no additional air in/out, it's just a "more efficient" process which makes the power?

Currently building my spare motor fully forged and thinking of moving up to a g30-770 for a bit more power as i think the 660 would start to struggle a bit once pushed. Id rather the 770 running at like 80% instead of the 660 running at 100%

      Ha! Been told that before. I’m running it in conjunction w/ N75. Using my stock ECU, I’d have to to jump to aftermarket to eliminate MBC(?). It’s a United Motorsports tune w/ are highly recommended in my area. Why do YOU say toss the MBC? Is it for several reasons? Like I’m unable to completely mash the gas pedal w/o it 1st igniting the tires then w/in second(s) go straight to wastegate. I’ve really got NO control. I’m running @15-18lbs boost(too much maybe) & I’ve really got to pedal the shit out of it to get it to hook up. I’ve got over $20,000 into a car that I’ve got for absolutely nothing and was just trying to keep some cost down but I think this is one expense I’ll have to succumb to? Not sure......🤷‍♂️

    • @COMotorsports
      @COMotorsports  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@neildantino4709 You get what you pay for as you say. If you understand from the money you have into the car that doing this stuff isn't cheap. A MBC is a band aid in most applications, especially where boost control is vital to drivability and protecting the engine. Since most MBC can cause large spikes in boost or erratic control it typically isn't going to be the best solution... not even close.
      To answer your question, yes a proper EBC will work with your application. Just disconnect the vacuum lines to your N75 and keep it electrically plugged in. And use a EBC to control boost. Or get your tune worked to use the N75 to give you the control you want. We use EBC on most builds so we can control boost as we want. Whether its boost per gear, boost per RPM, or boost per MPH. Way more perks, control, and fail safes using an EBC over a MBC.

      These are all different wheel sizes which is why they're labelled differently. However if they were all the same wheels and just different turbine housing they would spool differently and make different power at the same boost levels.

    • @COMotorsports
      @COMotorsports  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Have no dyno experience with the G series yet. However typically the more power you want the laggy it's going to get... it's the nature of the game. However the best chance you're going to have keeping spool is going to be with a G series.

    • @Unko-Q
      @Unko-Q 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      if you want the fastest spool go wit the g30-770... but if you want extra room for growth when you go e85 n big boost... g35-900. Whats your end power goal? the 770 is rated at “770” but in reality it kinda tops out at the 600-650ish range from alot of dyno vids n runs ive seen. So if you trynna make like 750+ whp... you wanna select a g-series that is rated at 900+. Going anything bigger like a g42 or even g35-1050, most those top FD guys they start using nitrous to spool it up faster. But tl;dr. If its a fast lil street toy choose g30-770... if you want somethin bigger skip g30 and go straight to g35-900.
      ATP even makes an aftermarket twinscroll housing for g35-900/1050 now !!! Im mad it takin my fabricator so long to fabricate my manifold (he used a v-band still since g-series from factory only have v-band option...) ATP even came up with a t4 divided aftermarket option before the dude is even done fabricating 🤬🤬🤬 LOL FAWK. So now i might have to sell the manifold once it arrives 😤😤😤. The only plus side of those vband is no need turbo manifold inlet gasket and they almost will never come loose (no worries of 4 nuts coming loose on a t4)... but at the cost of not having twinscroll which is a helpful spool aid.

    That gt3582r is T3 flanged, not t4...
    That 3584rs is actually the basis for the gSeries... Which has already been replaced with the g35-1050...
    The reason that 6785 looked soo big is because of that 85mm turbine... Thats gtx45 sized,... Of course its gonna look huge...

    So this is going to sound totally off the wall, but you know what I wanna see? A custom done Bugatti Chiron with two twin-scroll Garrett G45-1500's and equal length 8-4-2 headers on each side that are set up for as close to perfect scavenging as you can get. And then run the exhausts from each turbo into a massive 2-1 tailpipe with a long crossover/blend section. Yeah, basically I want a 3000-WHP Chiron with "instant" spool. I don't even care if I own it, I just wanna see if anyone has the balls to do it. Then put like 355mm slicks all round on it in the tiniest effort to grip.
