As a young Ford/Moffat fan during this time, I was devastated. Thank god for the privateer Dick Johnston to come up through the ranks and take on the full force of the Holden Factory team. They were great years, and that dice between Brock, Bartlett and Johnston, with Morris tailing em' in the 1981 event was very memorable. There was a danger that Touring Car Racing could get very boring as the HDT was so professional and so successful, many fans could have been turned away. It was such a shame that Ford Australia just dropped the ball on motor racing in the 1980's. I really do feel for drivers such as Moffat and especially Bond who were so let down by this stupid decision. Looking back now at these old days and comparing motor racing now, we are so lucky to have lived through this time. As unfortunately, motor racing these days is so boring. We are so lucky to have such great memories of these old days...so lucky. RIP Peter Brock and John Harvey, thanks for the memories.
1984 VK had some interesting parts under the hood says the head mechanic....... but as I my uncle who worked for Cams head office said “we make sure nobody else can win “

The Marlboro HDT days were perfect. Reliable cars, well run and great drivers. No wonder they dominated.
R.I.P……….king.
The only reason that VH Commodore sold for $2m because brock and perkins drove it to 2 victories at Bathurst not because Harvey and Phil drove it....
awesome ☝
