In the last year of his life my husband wanted music playing all the time. He only wanted Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and the Traveling Wilburys. He died 10 months before Tom and the music gave him such comfort as it did me after his death. I still play it every day. Thank you so much to everyone who put this together. And thank you Tom for being you.

If your not tearing up during this video then you never went to one of his concerts nor a fan of the heartbreakers, Man what a tear jerker I just love the lyric and the video. Seeing the video I can put myself there at his shows,the many that I went too. I will never see another show but knowone can take the memories away that is for sure. God dam I am missing him already it feels like I lost a family member. I say no more!

Every time I think I've discovered the most beautiful Tom Petty song, I find another one. My goodness this is exquisite.
Back in the 80s many of us didn't know we were Tom Petty fans. Most of us just thought he was cool and had some really good music. But that changed when you went through your album collection and realized you had every one of his albums and liked them all. But it all really changed when Full Moon Fever came out and saw what an amazing talent he really was. By the time Mary Jane's Last Dance and Into The Great Wide Open came out, the deal was already sealed. We were TPHB fans for life. This stuff here proves he was a remarkable talent beyond just Damn The Torpedoes or Full Moon Fever.
Another great outtake release that shows Tom Petty will live on for many decades to come.
They helped to give a better life to SO MANY people...including myself...a HUGE thank you is owed to TPHB, to their families, & to their loyal crew. I had 12 of the best nights in my entire life seeing TPHB live at various venues. I was able to bring my two sons along eventually when they got old enough. If life is all about one's memories and experiences, then TPHB has enriched mine greatly!!!
Although I knew about Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, it was my daughter who always said, "My heart belongs to Tom." I fell in love with the music and the memories our family has created listening to the decades of music he and the heartbreakers produced are burned deeply into my soul. Thank for memories and for being a true American Treasure!

Losing Tom hurts so much and still does. Luckily we'll always have the music, the songs, the memories. This video had me crying just as much as I was when I finally decided to travel 10000 miles and watch Tom and the band perform live.

Tom touched so many people with his music and along with the Heartbreakers, who were with Tom from the very beginning to the very end, blazed a path in the music world that no one else will ever travel.

Our five kids have been singing Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers in our minivan pretty much nonstop for the last few months. I love seeing all the new generations loving this music. It's timeless.

I never get tired of watching this video. On this 2017 tour, I met so many of these people...and this video is something I never expected, but am so appreciative for. I hit about 1/2 of the last 53 shows...actually, 25...but close. These past 2 1/2 years have been quite emotional, and the AAT box set was so well done. Obviously, the fans were what kept Tom going all these years, and was so appreciative of our following. We held 30 listening parties across the country, and a few internationally, for the release of AAT...and if we had more advanced notice....I am sure it would have been many more. So happy that there are so many pics and videos of this 40th Anniversary Tour.
Still heartbroken over the loss of this gifted man. The world got darker without his light.😞

It still hurts to know he's not with us but I love seeing all the happiness he had in his life! Tom Petty truly was "An American Treasure!!!!"...and forever loved & missed. Great video. Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers will always be my favorite band. I had the pleasure of seeing the band 26 times in concert, and I saw Mudcrutch once. They were all very great concerts. I am so thankful that we have so much music and videos and memories to keep Tom Petty's legacy going on forever. Thank you again for this awesome video.

This is such a beautiful song. I'm not expecting that much from the new box set given most of the songs were rejected from previous albums though this song is a gem. I still cry on a regular basis when I hear a Tom Petty song and miss his beautiful soul so much.

The piano on this song just digs into your soul! I’m in a new relationship after a 40 year marriage went south and this song just kills me every time I hear it! I’ve seen the heartbreakers no less than 20 times and had tickets to see him in Berkeley for what would end up being his second to last performance. Wasn’t able to make the reschuled event and have regretted it forever. So happy that my children got to experience the heartbreakers many time GRIP TOM god bless the rest!
@@johnshuler8688 I never got the chance to see them and it is one of my big regrets. I did raise my sons up listening to him though. He is one of their best memories, riding in daddys truck jamming to TP as well as other classic rock. Tom and the guys were always our favorite though. Glad you got to see them and good luck my fellow fan.

Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers have left us with a lot of great studio and live music for us to enjoy for years to come. And I thank Tom's family, the Heartbreakers and all others involved in releasing this upcoming collection, and hopefully more in the future (ahem, Wildflowers?). It seems like there is a remarkable amount of music that never made it onto the released albums - but apparently only for lack of room, not for lack of being top quality! I'm going to try and concentrate on all of what we have, instead of lamenting how much more there would have, and should have been from someone who was as talented and relevant at 66 as he was at 26. (I said try - it is not easy.)

I have no reason , rhyme nor 'right' to get Tom Petty. Growing up in the West of UK, I have no reason to identify with 'Americana' , per se.
Yet as a young man, the first time I heard TP (and the HB's) something spoke to me and I've been a life long fan. I miss this man.

I was at the London 2017 gig and it was the best show I have ever and will ever see. Came all the way from Oz to see the band that has made my life so much more complete. I'll never forget the show, or how much the band and Tom have given me.

I was feeling really down today and it hit me when I saw the news about the anniversary of the shooting in Vegas it was another anniversary too. I can’t believe it’s been a year since we lost Tom. I downloaded the album and am completely haunted by the beautiful music. This one moved me to tears. He was truly an American Treasure.
When he passed it felt like I lost my best friend...I’ve always been a lone wolf, but always had Tom’s music....felt like I knew him better than most of my own family

The day Tom died I was 8, I didn’t think much of it then, until the New Years into 2019 I heard “to find a friend.” And I was shocked, it just blew my mind, I’m 10 now, I know how to play every Tom petty song, single, studio album, Mudcrutch. And “to find a friend” is still my favorite song
I was 7 at the time and I heard wildflowers around summer of 2019 and I asked my stepdad “who is this?” And he said “Tom Petty, you like this music?” And from then on I’ve been hooked. My favorite is this song and to find a friend. 🫶

Amazing video. Grew up listening to tom petty my mom is a massive fan of his. We saw him when he came to Birmingham England. In the 80s and I was hooked. It just feels so strange that he’s no longer with us 😔 but we play his music everyday and we always will. We love you TOM ❤️

I got to see him for my 14th birthday last year, it was one of the greatest concerts I’ve ever been to 💕 it was crazy, I turned to my side and saw that there were kids there who were even younger than me and then I looked to the other side and saw that there were people there that were probably in there 70s or 80s who were all singing in unison. His music is just absolutely timeless and always will be. Love and miss you TP, you belong somewhere you feel free 💕🎩🎸

Love that piano! When I heard about Tom Petty’s death I wanted to reach up into the clouds and pull him back down to earth. I cried for six months, read his biography and listened to every CD and video ever made, and also reread the lyrics as I listened. This band was (is) Wicked good! I’ve read that Tom could be cantankerous at times, but how could someone who wrote such beautiful lyrics be so bad? And, lastly, I wish “Magnolia” had been written about me. My love ❤️ for this man and this band will never die. Much peace to all.....

I didn’t discover Tom Petty’s music until last year when he passed. I regret not finding it sooner but in that one year his music helped me through a lot. RIP Tom Petty
The music is the experiences and points of view of his life, shared with everyone to hear; he laid himself out bare to the world. Thanks for sharing Tom. I grew up in a rough way and his music was like a big brother telling you he's been there too, felt the lows and and made it through back to the sunshine. I think the music touched many lives when they needed it - Tom was there for you on vinyl, cassette or CD and will always be. In the words of Bruce Springsteen "we learned more from a 3 minute record than we ever did in school". Some of those records were surely Tom's. Listen to them all, everyone is a moment, story, smile, tear, or bit of Tom type wisdom.
