Me too . I' m from Italy and i' ve always loved the music of Tom Petty . His wonderful music . And i was shocked when i heard about his death . Now , i can , we can , listen another great gift from him . A voice , a guitar , a real talented Man .

I hear ya. He's been a favorite of mine since my h.s. days in the early 80s. He gave off that cool friend vibe & he was funny! I regret not seeing him in concert. An interesting twist: a girl I attended h.s. with, eventually met TP, & married him! (His 2nd wife).

Same here, Moose Chip :( My husband and I grew up with Tom Petty and it seems that we will never fill that void. It's so hard to believe he's gone.
I feel that she cleaned out her past, but in the end she learned to accept it and love herself and all parts of her that make her who she is. In the end, she shed the past and her heart was clear and open to maybe accept love again. It's a beautiful message.

The song is ultimately about Tom Petty's own life at the time. It was rough! There's no knowing exactly when he started using heroin, but it was in the nineties. Then his divorce in 1996. The video seems to be quite independent to the song itself. The video creators refer to it as a a "fairy tale" with a wicked sense of humor (like Tom's own) ~an attempt at continuing Tom Petty's own storybook-style videos. There's a good article about the making of the video online somewhere (should be easy to find). But the beauty of art is that your interpretation is as good as anyone else's. It's just that there is no definitive translation.

He has ALWAYS been number 1 in my book. Cried like I lost my brother when he went. I listen to him every day on his Buried Treasure Show with Sirius. Additionally, I always play I Won't Back Down on the way to work. RIP Tom Petty.

I played his music for 3 mos solid after he passed. He has been my #1 since his first album. He wrote a song called Pirates Cove, which has been a magical place for me. I grew up just a stone’s throw away...Google Pirates Cove song and location. Tom, I love your work!
Mark H i listen to his show too. Its like he's still with us. In many ways he is. I was lucky to see his concert nine days before he transitioned. I could tell he wasn't at his best and somehow knew it was the last time I would see him.

As a kid, my fondest memories were riding around with my Dad in his sky blue El Camino listening to Full Moon Fever on repeat. Each of Tom's songs brings back a certain memory that I'll never lose.

I cried for an entire month after he died, no I didn't know him... But I felt is though I had lost a close friend. His music has gotten me through the worst times in my life I started listening when I was 11 years old, my only regret is that I never got to see him play a live show! He will always be number one to me!
I know how you feel. I thankfully got to see him live first time in Saint Louis 6 months before he passed. Always say it was the best thing I ever did was buy tickets to that show was a great time and will remember it forever. Had chills almost every song.
While I didn't cry for a month, it was only for a moment, but here you. Mentioned it on an earlier thread and found it's more appropriate here, but I don't have the energy. Suffice it to say, I'm 48 years old and grew up listening to his music and my only regret is not appreciating it until it saved my life two years ago and still keeps me going every day. At 1:53, he drums his 'fingers" on his "chin" exactly like Tom did in the "Don't Come Around Here No More" video. Then the bigger one with the top hat and mop hair is an obvious "stand in" for Tom. And at the end he's gone... just left his heart. Could have been hokey, but I think they pulled it off pretty well.

I live 2 hrs from Toms hometown and pass by there every few weeks. Man, I can feel his presence the closer I get to Gainesville Fl. Some people we lose in life and the hurt subsides......but some people are so special that it hurts till the day we leave...Tom Petty was one of those guys that we think of everyday. U will never ever be forgotten TP. An amazing god given talent with a down to earth personality. He never thought of himself as special.. that’s what made him special. Thank god for SiriusXM radio and the Tom Petty channel/buried treasure show.
