btw, here's a few obscure facts of Animal Crossing not in this video: Sable is old enough, that she knew Tom Nook as a kid. Tom Nook has some super bad history with Crazy Redd, and not for shop rivalry. A long time ago, Tom Nook was scammed by Redd over a "get rich quick" scam. Tom Nook lost everything he had after that. And rather than seeking help, even from his good friend Sable, Tom Nook pushed away everyone trying to help him, including Sable, possibly to not get them involved with his own problem. As such, Tom Nook has a deep hatred for foxes, never wanting to trust one ever again. All of this is revealed in Wild World if you play the game on certain days of the year. There was an additional obscure fact I wanted to put into this comment, but I forgot it while writing this comment, my brain has gotten much more forgetful than it used to be
That's why Tom Nook is willing to just give away houses and let you pay him back whenever. Everybody deserves a second chance 🥺 that's why I defend him when people try to make the tyrant jokes. Redd gets the "Fool me once" treatment though 😅
For the Isabelle thing it's my headcannon that her and Digby were abandoned by their bio parents but were adopted by an awesome family and they're the parents she video chats.
@Shokas Lgbt animals abandon their young in the wild sometimes. Not even in the wild sometimes companion animals or those in zoos do it. That's actually how I got my cat was because the mother abandoned her and I had to bottle feed here. Plus in this game animals have human level intelligence and are thus capable as the same level of goods and evils that humans are. Even in a cute game like this.
About the meteor in the roof. There is a blue circle in the exhibit that makes the camera view out allowing you to see it without the camera upgrade. I also think the dinos are in poses of running away and curious of it.

In Wild World sable does talk about what you mention, her mother died first and she didn’t talk much about her father. Sable was abandoned by Labelle and left to raise Able on her own. All she did was raise Able and sew and sew, she also spoke about how Tom nook promised to help them when he started to make money with his business. At one point she forgets her own birthday and when Tom Nook starts making money he gives her a nice pair of scissors. Really tom nook was the only one there for her.

Regarding the show with the kids running on the old TV, that's likely meant to refer to old home movies that parents would take of their children at Japanese Undoukai, often translated as "Sports Day". The red and white hats are references to it. It's likely supposed to be nostalgic rather than dramatic or sad.
Purple bag of chips are "Ruffles". There's also "Lays" chips in there - and these are IRL brands. I guessing you guys dont get lays/ruffles wherever your from.

about the computer having a dock for applications, that shit used to just be called the taskbar back on windows 95, and the background and color scheme of the computer itself in the airport looks more like a Windows Vista setup with a custom taskbar with enlarged icons, similar to what you'd see in a custom windows vista theme on windows 8, 10, or 11, as the "dock" or taskbar itself is a solid color and not transparent like on Mac OS. There's also the possibility of a custom linux build, but Apple aren't exactly the only ones to have a dock or taskbar
I believe the show with the kids is actually Stand By Me. There is another reference to it in the original Pokémon Red and Blue if you check your houses tv.
I quite honestly never understood the "Tom Nook is a bad guy" thing. Like, you go to a town to buy a house but you're woefully unprepared and have like no money, and a dude mortgages you a house with zero interest that you can pay off at your leisure.
I never played the GameCube one but I remember in Wild World he was kind of an arse about it. Getting you to do a load of busywork to supposedly pay off the debt, then only subtracting about a tenth of the debt when you're done (not even paying you in cash), and then when you DO pay it off he immediately puts you in more debt for more construction whether you want it or not. 5:50 actually, you can see the meteor otherwise. If you stand on the basic colored circles on the ground, they will change the camera to better view the museum. Stepping on the one in the center of the exhibit will show a wide view of the full exhibit proudly displaying the meteor in the corner.
I remember seeing a clip in Tama Hero's video "The Evolution of Villagers in Animal Crossing" where Gracie straight up says "How did you know my real name is Gretchen Grutch? Of course that's not my real name!" or something along those lines. I'll see if I can find the exact timestamp, but I do remember seeing that. What's interesting is I've never seen that line, and it makes me wonder if it only applies to female characters, and not males. She seems rather... flirty with the male villagers, at least from what I've seen in my game.
@@poketrekkie That's because her gender was changed for the Western release to avoid controversy. In Japan, Gracie is a male and based on the "okama" stereotype ("okama" is a derogatory term for feminine men and trans women in Japan), and his real name is Nabenosuke (a pun on the word "onabe", which is the derogatory Japanese term for masculine women and trans men). This is likely why the character never returned.
@@joannamysluk8623 At this point I don't remember what that video was about but I know what Gracie was based on, and that she is a he in Japan. I probably meant to say that we never questioned anything because of that female German name?
Kapp'n actually sings the exact same songs he sang in New Leaf. There may be some new ones I haven't seen, but at least most of his songs are just copy-pasted from New Leaf.
Man what a blast of nostalgia! I used to play WW daily on my DS lite as a kiddo. While I've played NL the most, it holds a special place in my heart as only of the only games I had 💕 great video, loved watching your journey!! 😊
Took you almost three years to see the meteor on the roof, and you only found it with your handheld camera??? Dude, there's a blue dot in the centre of the room where, if you stand on it, the camera zooms out and shows you the entire scene. It's been there since its launch in 2020...
Hey, I won't take the hate on Lyle. He actually pays out for that insurance! (And you can actually scam him if you have the Egyptian mask thing since it makes you trip more often thus getting more frequent payouts...)
A long time ago, when I started playing Population Growing and was trying to do the turnip market, I had to have a lot of help from my parents because I just didn't understand how it worked. I was only 4 at the time. One day, my mom gave me a notecard that said the highest prices for turnips could be 1,024 or maybe 1,048. I couldn't find my card as I was writing this, but I do know I had it and the price was somewhere in the thousands. I don't know where my mom found this price on the internet (internet all the way back in 2007 yikes), but it seems to be true based on what you documented.
I love that you point out the vending machine snacks but not that two of them very obviously have the Lays logo! It's really compressed and maybe that's not what they intended but I can't see it as anything else!
I don't have the photo proof as this was YEARS AGO but I CLEARLY remember the getting the "Gretchen Grunch" dialogue in my GC game! I wonder what the Japanese version of it revealed?
The Japanese version of Gracie's real name is _Nabe-no-suke_ which, unfortunately, is in Japanese basically a pun on a slur for trans people. Japan has very different cultural understandings about this, so the whole idea of Gracie's character in Japan is that she is a crossdresser who is actually a man but denies it, and that's why she is so into fashion. So the English localization changed this to Gracie just being a snob and having an "embarrassing" name.
about isabelle and her brother being in a cardboard box... I used to just sit in a cardboard box and kinda just chill for a while I have a feeling they weren't abandoned but just liked cardboard boxes and they probably did build a box fort at least once
Also about the passage of time i cant belive you havent talked about mabel. IN the first game ti's made pretty obvious she is a child and she talkes to you in a way no emploies woulds talk to you thus why sable excuses her a LOT. It's somewhat similar in wild world tho she is a bit more uptight but the real change is in city folks. (also fun fact the only characteur that's uses the phrase "city folks" is Sable) in city folks it's imply she has her own life and her own different hobbies and tast compared to Sable and they butt head a bit more in this game. she also mention that's she receive her own mail that's Sable dosent know about probably impling taht's she is in her late teens And in NEw horizon she mention to Sable that's she is an adult now and dosent need to be babied anymore! Quite the journey!
The TASK BAR, you mean? Which Windows had for decades? That looks ever so slightly like Windows XP, except with a more modern look thanks to the icons.
You can see the ceiling meteor if you stand on a blue circle that's on the floor. I don't know how much people know this as well but some different stereo/radio types actually sound different to each other and have different volumes naturally like the busted radio has static sounds for instance where a portable radio won't. And the phonograph sounds more old compared to something like the cherry speakers. Same with the retro record player. As for your end question: I hardly knew any of this though because I played Wild world way back when and hardly remember anything despite playing it 24/7 and I'm fairly new to New Horizons so I didn't know too much about it. Only bits of it like the contents of snack machines changing and stuff.
The CRT seems to be playing a show about a race based on the pistol one guy held up in the air and probably shot. Also the color and texture look like track or baseball outfits back in the day. I think the one scene where the three kids are shocked is either one of two depictions: (1) they are shocked by a kid's speed or (2) they are all out of breath. I think the second one seems more likely because there are three kids running and then three kids panting.
You should also be able to see the meteorite if you stand on the dot on the ground of that room in the fossil exhibit. It’s even called “The Extinction Spot” during the Museum Day Stamp Rally!
The majority of this video's facts I did not know, despite my long history of playing Animal Crossing game. btw, how I kinda first was introduced to Animal Crossing was I think back when Blockbuster Videos game rental service still existed. Back then I used to rent games frequently, and one of the games that I rented was the Gamecube Animal Crossing. Enjoying it so much when I was much younger, my mom ended up actually buying the game (obviously from a different source) for me, and we even got the special gift Memory Card included with the game, which I gave to my brother so he too could have his own town in the game.
Ever since Pocket Camp I always think of Lottie as a bit of a fraudster too. When you fail to get full marks on a Happy Home Designer challenge, she'll pop up offering to "offer her advise" in exchange for leaf tickets, which basically just increases your score so you can max the challenge. While it says you're paying for her advise, it seems pretty clear to me that you're actually just bribing her leaf tickets to give you a higher score.
@1:36 I actually got surprised when it said it looks like a mac OS for the computer. I clearly see that it's PC as that is the task bar down to the blue back ground. You event mention the monitor itself doesn't look like a mac.
Marlo is like Tom nook, except tom is lenient on paying back your loan.. Marlo.. if he isn't paid back.. "Accidents" tend to happen to those who flake out.
Maybe chistian media parental advise so your kids don’t ask you about that giraffe from the game who's a boy with girl dress on, which makes you look dumb as a parent and writeing an upsetting Karen like letter to the company. Who knows? 🤷🏼♂️
There was an interview with the localizers of the original game that explained this. Gracie was intentional because she was an offensive stereotype. Sahara was actually changed by mistake because they didn’t know the genders of the special characters due to them not having blue and pink text boxes like the villagers. So they guessed based on the appearance and Japanese name, which they interpreted as "Lauren". It's not confirmed but Blanca was presumably the same case because she has a high-pitched voice.
You can see the meteroid by standing in a small spot on the floor left of the meteorite impact sculpture. It zooms out so you can see it, and the music changes to become threatening, wirh booming percussion.
Perhaps isabelle and digby were orfans at some point, and then got adopted by their now family, since in NL if you complete the advices, when she gives you the fruits, she says that sharing is good, that was what her mother always said (something along these lines)
Fun fact: if u catch a frog in animal crossing new horizon the pun says sm like “I got a frog! Wait is it my neighbor? I have to apologize soon” idk I found this so funny lol 😂
I think the movie playing on the vcr is meant to be a reference to chariots of fire- a running movie. The scenes look super similar to the opening of that film
The impression I always got from Gullivarr was that he was just Gulliver after hitting his head and mixing up memories, hence him not recognizing you and thinking he's a real pirate... with a cell phone.
I'd like to think that Isabella and digby were homeless with their parents and so they lived in a box being dogs but as they got older they got jobs, probably buying the things that the parents never had later on in life which is why Isabel checks on them weekly, maybe even tomm donating money to Isabel's parents as a bonus or gift Also idk if anyone has pointed this out yet but Gulliver has star shaped pupils (probably because he had a space ship at one point) and Gullivarrr has X shaped pupils for being a pirate, also Gullivarrr's brow is redder while Gulliver's is brown
The "dock" on the computers looks like a Microsoft Windows XP task bar, with several tasks on it. Especially with the lack of icons at the one end where the date and time would be. Also… "lower middle section"? The "dock" goes the entire length of the bottom edge, like a Windows task bar does. The turquoise background is also reminicent of Microsoft Windows 3.11… I think? The grey (gray?) menu at the right appears to also be based on Microsoft Windows 95\98 menus. Additionally, the yellow text on a blue background looks very much like Microsoft Windows 8\10's Powershell (Power Shell?). I'm going to assume you're a big fan of Apple\Macintosh products; and really want the animal crossing universe to be using said products; and saw the bar with icons at the bottom and went "Oh, that's a mac thing" and didn't look into anything else on the computer screen for any other clues. Am I saying that the computers are without a doubt running some version of Windows? No. That would be silly of me. I don't use any Macintosh\Apple computers, nor do I use emulations of them. But I see several things I recognise from my history with different versions of Microsoft Windows. Way back in my early school years, Apple computers with those really big floppy disks were all we had to use. And they also had grey\gray menus back then. The other details I pointed out are likely just as easily able to be associated with various Macintosh\Apple operating systems by people who grew up primarily with them. All I'm saying is that you gave very little evidence besides "oh, look, bar at bottom of screen. Is probably a mac os." as if other operating systems don't, and never did, that.
The Mac dock makes sense when you realize that Nintendo has (or had) a partnership with Apple. Not sure about the switch, but every other Nintendo after GameCube uses a specialized version of iOS. At least as far as I'm aware.
There actually IS a way to see the meteor without the camera. Whereas there's that large blue 'dot' next to the small display that you can stand on to shift the camera, there's another smaller dot elsewhere in the room that you can stand on that shifts the camera to the larger meteor on the ceiling. BOOM! A fact for the fact sharer!

To be honest, wasn’t my focus in game either. 😅 sorry, I’m a fool.
Love who the characters all have meaning full names and then there are the german names: Fred
I'm pretty sure the computers are meant to be running windows Vista (not Mac os) with the green background and blue task bar.
There are definitely some I didn’t know and I’ve been playing since the GameCube one was released! Also, I wish they would bring back the post office.
@@Chubby_Bub OOF...Yeah, good call on the localization there.
@@Chubby_Bub trans "people" arent people
about isabelle and her brother being in a cardboard box...
I used to just sit in a cardboard box and kinda just chill for a while
I have a feeling they weren't abandoned but just liked cardboard boxes
and they probably did build a box fort at least once
Also about the passage of time i cant belive you havent talked about mabel. IN the first game ti's made pretty obvious she is a child and she talkes to you in a way no emploies woulds talk to you thus why sable excuses her a LOT.
It's somewhat similar in wild world tho she is a bit more uptight but the real change is in city folks.
(also fun fact the only characteur that's uses the phrase "city folks" is Sable)
in city folks it's imply she has her own life and her own different hobbies and tast compared to Sable and they butt head a bit more in this game. she also mention that's she receive her own mail that's Sable dosent know about probably impling taht's she is in her late teens
And in NEw horizon she mention to Sable that's she is an adult now and dosent need to be babied anymore!
Quite the journey!
Gracie’s name is Gretchen! She revealed it to me in the GameCube version yesterday! I’ll see if I can get footage for you
Lyle is basically a jerk. In Pocket Camp he NEVER judges your placement well- his numbers are always the very lowest of all the judges.
The TASK BAR, you mean? Which Windows had for decades? That looks ever so slightly like Windows XP, except with a more modern look thanks to the icons.
10:12 soooooo are we not going to mention how that's straight up a bag of Lay's Sour Cream and Onion chips right there in the green bag?
I think the second one seems more likely because there are three kids running and then three kids panting.
this dude fr said "even the hardcore fans won't know these" then said "Harv' is short for Harvey bc he had an RV"
Thanks for sharing such lovely memories with us. :) your mom is a good one.
Def similar, but the player's guide says Nook breaks thumbs!
Love your videos! I think this is the earliest I've been in one of your videos too!
10:45 you can change what's shown in the TV if you customise it. Just putting it out there
Gracie, Sahara, and Blanca are all actually male. ( Japanese version ) It's unknown why they were changed differently elsewhere though.
Sahara was changed because of the long eyelashes…which *all* camels have(presumably to protect the eyes from the sand).
Gracie was probably changed so they didn't get any backlash protraying what could be interpreted as a drag queen.
@@Chubby_BubSir thanks’a’lot. You enriched me with your knowledge. :)
Kapp'n ' s family also made an appearance in new leaf on the vacation island ~
Yes
You can see the meteroid by standing in a small spot on the floor left of the meteorite impact sculpture. It zooms out so you can see it, and the music changes to become threatening, wirh booming percussion.
5:56- there’s a dot on the ground you can stand on that automatically changed the angle and shows you that meteorite 😮
That "dock" on the computer could easily be a toolbar also. Mac is not the only computer with icons at the bottom of the screen 🙄
The boardgame is also an item in pocket camp!
I’ve said over and over the Able sisters ALL need to go to therapy.
Omg, I just washed Gracie's car like, 3 days ago and she definitely denied being Gretchen and then told me her car got dirty driving to my hick town.
tbh i still think gulliver and gullivarr are the same character and gulliver is just messing with us by pretending to not know us as gullivarr
I think the movie playing on the vcr is meant to be a reference to chariots of fire- a running movie. The scenes look super similar to the opening of that film
With kappn it makes me think… is there a canonical timeline with the game… and if so.. what’s the chronological order of the games..
Why did bro choose the figures of Blanca, Saharah, and Gracie that are T-posing lmaooo
I feel like Isabelle and Digby probably were abandoned- and were then adopted by the characters they now know as their parents.
or they could have been homeless.
1:30 you know that linux exists right?and that it can also use a dock widget?
“Also the carp was recolored t red” is the only thing I didn’t know
Jokes on you I watched the entire video twice and I knew everything you mentioned the second time
Yes!! Gretchen! I had gotten it multiple times cause I was really good at getting the car clean!
Windows 11 has been putting the dock in the middle for a while, now, too. It's a mystery
As a veteran ac player i did not know most of these!
These were indeed pretty obscure ! Learned quite a lot!
I didn't know most of these, thanks for helping me learn more about animal crossing!!!
The only two things I didn't know was that Lyle was Lottie's uncle & the iQue keyboard overhaul.
Nevertheless, an enjoyable video there.
The green snack at 10:14 is definitely Lay's Crisps (a french crisps brand) sour cream and onion I never noticed it lmaooo
The dock on their computers looks like the taskbar in Windows 10 and Windows 11 not like the Mac dock
I've never thought of Tom Nook as being evil. Especially with the lore behind the Nooklings. Redd on the other hand...
guys... puppies are often put in cardboard boxes, the dialogue is referencing that... it doesn't mean they were abandoned
The impression I always got from Gullivarr was that he was just Gulliver after hitting his head and mixing up memories, hence him not recognizing you and thinking he's a real pirate... with a cell phone.
There’s a spot painted on the floor in the museum that makes your camera pan up to see the meteor on its own. It even does a subtle little music sting
The movie you can see on TV is a reference to one of the devs fav movies if I remember correctly
I don't know much abt animal crossing so I'm excited
I'd like to think that Isabella and digby were homeless with their parents and so they lived in a box being dogs but as they got older they got jobs, probably buying the things that the parents never had later on in life which is why Isabel checks on them weekly, maybe even tomm donating money to Isabel's parents as a bonus or gift
Also idk if anyone has pointed this out yet but Gulliver has star shaped pupils (probably because he had a space ship at one point) and Gullivarrr has X shaped pupils for being a pirate, also Gullivarrr's brow is redder while Gulliver's is brown
5:58 if you stand on the blue spot next to the brachiosaurus you can see it :3
You can actually see the meteorite if you stand still for a while in that blue spot between the 2 huge dinosaurs ((sorry If i butchered that xd
Thank you, I was wondering if someone was gonna make this comment lol
The Mac dock makes sense when you realize that Nintendo has (or had) a partnership with Apple. Not sure about the switch, but every other Nintendo after GameCube uses a specialized version of iOS. At least as far as I'm aware.
A Mac or Mac mini? You know there are other OSs out there with a bar on the bottom right? lol
10:13 are those sour cream and onion lays?! :O
lol i remember kapp'n's flirting made me so uncomfortable that i just made my character a dude 😂
…. Like in the bus?
If you sat in his boat you could rumble and smash all your buttons and he were like: „dude… rude!” and would immediately shut up.
@@TheNiiCow1 yeah but i didn't try that because i thought it would be rude lmao
i was a dumb kid
@@TheMarshmallowMushroom in new Horizons it‘s okey to just spam B and he‘ll skip the singing part. :)
with the meteorite. you can stand on a certain blue spot and it will pan your view up to it so you don't have to use the camera app
