When this came out I was homeless, on drugs, and then jail. I now have a house, job, and husband. This song and “Clover Cage - In the Moment” are the two songs that helped get rid of my depression. Nickelback was one of the best early 2000 rock bands. At the pool, at the bowling alley, at the skating ring. It was always playing and everyone was singing along.

I can only answer your questions from my point. I really love rock and metal. Plus i'm playing bass and guitar. So I think I've got a pretty good knowledge of this type of music. My main problem with Nikelback is that all the songs sound pretty much the same. The lyrics are good and obviously Chad has a great voice. But the guitars are just the same in all the songs and the bass and drums too.

Nckelback is only hated because the radio played their music to death and places like freaking Office Max continue to play it to this day. To be honest..I don't listen to all of their music, only a few singles, but the few that I listen to I liked as soon as I heard it

Their songs and lyrics are very well composed, relaxing, deep and it satisfies a lot of people, they didn't become famous by showing their assholes, they were naturally good, won lots of awards and made millions of fans by playing instruments and singing with heart, nothing you say or think will change any of that.

Plus there's plenty of other artists who are assholes who people still enjoy, folks like Eddie Van Halen, Axl Rose, Ted Nugent, Lou Reed, Kanye West, Chris Brown...I'm sure I'm only scraping the top of that list. Hell, John Lennon was a major asshole, reputedly.
This shouldn't take away from the good artists out there, to be clear. For every Axl Rose there's an Alice Cooper. For every Kanye West there's a Method Man. For every Eddie Van Halen there's a Dave Grohl. As with everything, there's good and bad everywhere.

Eh, I can understand people feeling a band's style grew stale, but relying on the same tone too much is different from being sellouts or outright lousy.
I would've preferred it if they'd stuck to their guns on a couple of things, such as the original video for "Never Again", but they aren't the first band to kowtow to that kind of marketing pressure and in a way it's understandable.

I also love their music, but I know a number of people having a reason for hating them. It ain't fun to listen to hard rock if you have to because it's in a school book. We had to listen to one of their songs at eight o'clock thirty and if you want to sleep, this music makes it much harder. It didn't affect me because I used to sleep while listening to music like Green Day, RHCP or Nickelback, but I knew a lot of angry people. It was in a book used in Germany so lots of pupils listened to this.
