Something curious is that the video was WAY ahead of it's time (1998) graphically speaking. For example, Half-Life was released in 1998 too and the characters in the normal version still looked like a bunch of polygons put together. Vice City was released in 2002 and it didn't have nearly as good graphics as this video. I know it may be due to the fact that this is just a music video and not a videogame, but just imagine a 1998 game with these graphics.

I listen to this song every day and night, I relate to it so much because of the deep dark hole American society is in today. No rock band today could match what these guys and many others from their time had done and I'm glad I grew up on this!

This has got to be RHCP's best song, even if it's not my favorite from them. The emotion and thematic and lyrical depth are unmatched in any other songs I can think of
I wholeheartedly agree. I think either Otherside or Scar Tissue are my favorite RHCP song (goddamn Californication is a crazy album man), but this song is just so timeless and awe-inspiring in its' theme and composition I think it truly showcases the best of the RHCP sound. It's truly a special record, and an album for the ages.
