if you need to get out of your car you don't attempt to break it, you put both your feet up against the windshield and push as hard as you can to push it out. I worked in a burn unit and had a patient who got out of a burning truck that way so I know this works
So, EXTREMELY bad news for people whose side windows are made of this stuff and are trapped in their burning car after an accident. How are passersby supposed to get them out in the few seconds of time they've got?
usually side & rear automotive glass is made to shatter in small pieces. You don't want huge shards of glass cutting you up in an accident. This is more for a windshield.
apparently vehicles 2017 and newer are made with laminate side windows. I guess laws stated it would be safer because it keeps people from being ejected. IT ALSO KEEPS PEOPLE FROM GETTING OUT.
My 2013 Tacoma was broadsided the other day by a bigger truck and it sent me flipping over a bank beside railroad tracks. My only way out was through my passenger window. If it was not for my Stinger escape tool, it would have been a while before I got out! It vis extremely scary to feel trapped, and now knowing my tool will be worthless in my next vehicle, is terrifying.
Hello Javier, there are no emergency glass break tools (as far as we've seen) that are specifically made for laminated glass. This is because laminated glass is very difficult to break through. There is a plastic polyvinyl interlayer that must be cut through.
There are glass cutter knives (saws) the size of a pocket knife. Someone said to punch a bunch of holes with glass breaker and then use the glass saw to cut through the holes
If someone gets injured in a car crash and losses their hand strength they are screwed if they need to break out of their car to save their or someone else’s life!
Pretty much. new cars have to have laminate side windows and back windows. SUPPOSED to be safer to keep people from being ejected. Keeps people from getting out in an emergency too. scary.
Laminated glass should not be on a CARDOOR window as a standard option. In case of a fire or water rescue or escape.. the people inside the car are trapped alive until they drown or burn to death. This should be optional upgrades for those who want it on ALL windows after being informed of the risks. Obviously, the windshield should be laminated. Things need to be changed as people are dieing in their cars because they can't get out!!
really depends on the stick and how hard it's chucked at the glass, however, it won't shatter everywhere if it breaks, so at least you probably won't get hit by the stick
"....the cool thing is......" ummm until you're stuck inside a car and need to get out!!! legislation needs to change! people have been dying trapped in cars!
I came hoping to learn how to break it in an emergency car situation
Yea me too, any video links?
You can’t. If your car Windows are laminated glass, you’re stuck in your car
Same!!

@@afridgetoofar1818 all you need is a special laminated glass cutter, firefighters have them

So if house on fire or store, and blocks door, your screwed?
Vehicles are now made with laminated glass on ALL the windows. How can one break laminated glass in a vehicle to ESCAPE?
Typically the rear windows are made of tempered
Is there a website that talks about this as an industry standard?

You're serious?
Where did I can find a tool to break laminated glass in case on an emergency?

pretty sure usually the rear window or the back side windows are made from tempered glass which is easier to break through.
Several flat nose hard cast 10mm+P rounds will do it but you'll never hear anything for the rest of your life.

Is this 1/4 in?
How thick is this 1/4’’ ? What is the thickness of the vinyl ?

@@MegaBumblebee666that's not practical and hasn't been the case in cases with kids trapped in cars with unbreakable windows
So a headrest support post is not going to break it.
The glass could likely be broken with headrest posts, but the lamination will try to hold the broken glass in place.
This more safe for building .
Great so new cars are using this on side windows. Don’t bother trying to break the windows to get out.

Yes you're exactly right. I'm with you
What this means is if your side windows are made of this in your car you will die if it catches fire
If like a 13 y/o were to throw a wooden stick at it, it wouldn’t break right?

No lol.
People need to know how to get out a submerged car with laminated glass. Someone should please tell us.
It's the depopulation agenda

It's not cool if you need to get out of a burning house or car.
Usually the rear or the backseat side windows are made from tempered glass which breaks a lot easier.
Window laminate to piss burglars off.
Uh no.
