    Chances of someone smashing my window - high. Chances of me driving into water …slim

    When I was an Automotive Glass Tech you could go to jail for installing laminated glass in a side window of any road legal registered vehicle and the reason is that it makes your car a literal death trap.

    This could be important in an accident where the doors become jammed and the car is on fire.

    I like laminated glass for a scenario where someone is actively trying to attack me while I'm in the car.
    It could save me from a surprise attack to the face while stopped in traffic and give me a few extra seconds to react or get out of the situation.
    Also, laminated glass would provide some refuge if you're caught in a hail storm or or high winds that are throwing debris.

      Oh cmon man up. Laminated windows are dangerous and most people aren't in danger of someone putting a fist through their window to try to get to them. Eyeroll

    Your vehicle will always have DOT information visible on the glass if it's road legal. Laminated side glass isn't marketed as a safety feature. It's offered as a luxury feature. It's two extremely thin pieces of glass with a acoustic laminate in between that's intended to lower interior road noise. Now nearly every window on a car has the same ability to crack like a windshield.

    • @sl4983
      @sl4983 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      ??? It's not a luxury feature, they're putting them in most cars.

    cars with Laminated windows are usually front, and front sides, but not the rear and rear sides, it anyway will certainly depend on what car brand and category its in

    Using laminated glass for safety is dumb. People shouldn't leave important items inside in the first place! Laminated glass a major risk in case of a serious emergency (car crash, fire, flood, kid/pet trapped inside). I can understand putting laminated glass on a windshield but laminated passenger windows are more of a safety risk I think.

      In most cases laminated is better because if someone t bones you or you get into a normal crash less glass will get on you. Falling into water is a much more rare situation
