    if you say Android 6.0 is more like 5.3, then iOS will never update to 2.0.

      DaveSwag His reviews are horrible. "The iphone feels a lot faster this time round, perhaps due to the 2GB of RAM?" While completely ignoring its geekbench scores and it being the first phone with NVME STORAGE! His bias is unreal.

    +The Verge : I hope you guys also make a detailed review of Android Marshmallow. You focused your review on *Google Now On Tap*. But there are other new features coming with Marshmallow :
    1. *Adaptable Storage* : Format your SD card to ext4 format and Android will treat it as Internal Storage.
    2. *App Standby* : Carrier based Android phones have bloatware. App Standby will automatically put unused apps to sleep. If the app doesn't get used for a period of time, the app enters the standby mode and is basically disabled.
    3. *Permissions* : Users will be able to decide what resources an app can use.
    4. *Fingerprint API* : The fingerprint API gives developers full control over the user interface, allowing them to natively integrate the fingerprint sensor into their app for things like mobile payments inside an app

      what modern Android phone has an micro SD card slot anymore, they r getting phased out real quick

    • @Akuu820
      @Akuu820 8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      There of the big four Android manufacturers. Sony, Samsung, Motorola, LG. Three out of four have SD cards in their 2015 flagship devices. Get your facts straight mate!

      Samsung is the only big Android manufacturer without a SD card on its 2015 flagship phone. If you want specifics the Xperia Z series, LG G4, Moto X series. Your comment that they're being phased our real quick makes no sense.

      +Steven Borders There was no mention of Apple in this entire video. They've praised Android before, but this new version just isn't that much improved, and it's hard to overlook the fact that it'll take a long time for most people to get it, which is a huge flaw.

    • @xaionik
      @xaionik 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Stupid Flanders It is much improved. The problem is that YOU can't see them. They're not visual. They're functional.

    • @s.flanders

    • @ShanksYea
      @ShanksYea 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Stefan C. simple it's a finer OS of the lollipop which I gotta love the animation.

    • @WilliamDove
      @WilliamDove 8 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      +Rhedox Google is not responsible for what other OEM's do to their open source software. The way to control this is by locking down Android software and controlling it like let's say...Microsoft does.

    • @Rhedox1
      @Rhedox1 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      William Dove That is the problem. I don't want Google to lock the OS down but rather restrict OEMs that want to have the Google Play certification (which is crucial for sales) they restrict the customization to Apps that can be updated via the Playstore. That way Google could update the devices in time, you could uninstall Bloatware and have an stock experience just by uninstalling the vendors custom apps.

    Ive had my LG G2 for about 2 years. I refused to update the firmware to lollipop for months because on my last phone it made it sluggish and battery life tanked. Just yesterday i decided to update it and while it IS actually pretty fast i cannot stand the thin font and pastel look of everything. Its hard to see and the coloring is just weird.

    the issue he used for the now on tap example is something that should be fixed but that's pretty minor. Other than that now on tap does work as Google advertised and it is pretty mind blowing.

    No OS is perfect. Just because the reviewer pointed out a few areas where Android M is lacking, doesn't instantly make him an Apple fanboy...

    After using Marshmallow for a few days on my Nexus 5 I do have to agree with this review pretty much completely. Now On Tap is hit or miss but I'm positive it will improve over time. The new additions such as control over permissions and improved copy + paste are good but not enough to make this feel like a 6.0 update. Google has been playing around with copy and paste since Eclair.
    That said, Lollipop is already really good so changes so functionality aren't urgent. It just makes Android that little bit better than it already is.

    I agree here. It feels like it was more like of a 5.3 update than an incremental one. I hate the verge before because they are biased but to me everything he said on this review is what I also feel. Now on tap is great but it misses out some information that I wanted to know especially people on my contacts. There's also this language barrier where google will have trouble translating them first. Standby time is good but to people who hold their phone more, walking in the streets with spotify turned on, it will most likely stay almost the same. The copy paste menu is great and easier to understand and now my mum's gonna know now how to copy and paste in android phones (before she's trying hard to figure out the heiroglyphics). BTW, copy and paste menu, and text selection currently doesn't work on facebook messenger's chat heads. Some apps also does not yet support the new permissions feature.
    THEY FORGET ONE THING THAT IS SO COOL ABOUT MARSHMALLOW: *GOOGLE TRANSLATE INTEGRATION IN TEXT SELECTION.*

      Eric Rivera
      1: In every verge review with this guy in it there is always a comparison between android and ios
      2: he just cant stop referencing iphone {apple} and how it is better.
      3: At the end of this video he stated that google cant find a way to get the newest android version on everyones phone, obviously referencing iphone and how its updates are for all people... Of course its for all people! Apple has 1 product by them not tens of other company's using there OS like android.
      and i can make a lot more but i cant right now... (>_

      ***** That is fair, but I think you might be a little bitter about the whole thing and you rush to assume he is a fanboy, I've seen verge reviews do the opposite as well. I guess it's all about perception.

    This looks promising. Maybe next year when I'm eligible again for another upgrade, I might switch back to an Android device, since voice-to-text got an "underhaul" with iOS9 and works just as crappy (but for different reasons) as what happened to Android's voice-to-text back in Janurary of this year (which was why I switched to an iPhone in the first place). Learning that newer Android phones can record 60fps video without having to root them helps a lot--though I imagine they still have the problem with constant updates to Google's apps that break functionality that sometimes take a month to fix, but still.
    The fact that on iOS, swype or swiftkey keyboards disable the ability to use voice-to-text altogether, and none of them come with cursor/arrow key, is a huge detriment and makes me pine for Android again...
    With these new changes to the OS in Marshmallow, I'm excited for next year :)
