YES! This is the movie that true fans need. Not Marry Sues, not an origin story that no one asked for or wanted, and definitely not a quirky animated series.
Maybe this is what Disney should have covered to start with. Rather than the damage they did. They would've had more elbow room I think then again they might've made it too political.
Why? You already have all over 9 movies identical to these images and events. The ships, soldiers, and uniforms are just the same as clone wars and original trilogy. It is just a rescrambled version of everything you've already seen a thousand times.

There should be like Millions of Bothans at least since they are an advanced space-faring race. An unprecedented force would require like a few more zeros. Sure you could argue that this was just the strike force around the shield generator, but even then 50K doesnt feel unprecedented and 5k defenders is just laughable
Earth and it’s population arent really good comparisons when looking at the Star Wars Universe. Planets in the galaxy far far away are hardly ever as densely-populated as Earth is, the beings of the Star Wars Universe have an entire galaxy to inhabit, so it’s rare to see that many all in one place, especially during that era. Serious question: Why does the Jedi Order keep the Council governing structure no matter how many mistakes or bad decisions it makes? Always sounds like mistakes are repeated and there is no culpability on the council.
Yea I agree no mater how far you go back the fact the jedi close themselves off ban that side of the force and certain emotions following a certain set of rules etc always causes fractures. Then and now their closed mindedness and complacency gives rise to their downfalls.
I think the best answer for this is that Jedi is a religious group more than a governing body. The best comparison would be the Catholic Church in the medieval age. This puts the Jedi in a position when changes to their structure questions the religion as a whole, leading to a splintering of the religion. Sorta like when Martin Luther proposed changes to the Catholic Church and accidentally started the reformation.
