Why is this better than the entire sequel trilogy?
Because the creative team behind it actually knew what they were doing and where they were going from the beginning. And also because they were genuine superfans of the Star Wars IP. And also because they didn't completely shut George Lucas out of the entire creative process.

It’s because this is in the old republic days where the Jedi were at the height of their power and the war was formidable for both sides
This upscaled trailer compilation is so immaculately done! I never realized how much I have accepted the fuzziness around outlines/borders in videos due to youtube's compressions and low frame rates. Outside of a few scenes, the everything in this video is so gorgeously crisp! These trailers with modern raytracing would be almost unbearably epic
By far the best action scenes from any STAR WARS show i have ever seen. Unbelievable...The Old republic....sounds good.

I have yet to see any live action light saber duels since Revenge of the Sith even come close to the authentic duel styles shown here.
Cause it’s almost impossible to have it be this good without any flaws and they know if it has even the smallest flaws everyone will hate them for it.

@@joshowensby6339 The duel of fates, Darth Maul VS Qui-gon and Kenobi and Anakin VS Kenobi did it right as far as live action. Have you ever seen a video tear down the Darth Maul fight pointing out a bunch of flaws while they duel at awesome speed? No. It can be done, and has been done well, years ago. The recent choreography in Disney star wars has been absolutely atrocious. If your looking for high speed high skilled lightsaber duels that give the impression of lore accurate mastery then the end of Phantom Menace sets the standard.
Revenge of The Sith? Authentic fighting? That shit was always absurdly over-choreographed and a little bit soulless. So many times it's blatant they're swinging at each other's lightsaber blades, not at each other's BODIES. Not to mention that bizarre bullshit where Obi-Wan and Anakin just stop fighting to spin and twirl their blades around for no reason at all. It's too clean and too polished. It's like the difference between pro wrestling fights in the NWA in the 1970s vs pro wrestling fights in WWE today. THIS stuff is leagues ahead of the prequel fights. Primarily due to the medium of animation allowing you to do things that you really just cannot in live action.

Disney had a chance to create something new and innovative like this with possible a battle with Luke's trainees at his academy taking on a new sith legion for some epic battles but they lack so much innovation that they just played off of nostalgia and reverted to the same recipe that George successfully pulled off. What a wasted opportunity.

With Kao Cen Darach, he said it immediately after a fleet of Sith warships dropped out of hyperspace in front of everyone. While everyone else might have been confused as to who their unknown foes were, Darach recognized them instantly as the Sith Empire because who *else* would send a large fleet of warships to reclaim Korriban, the Sith homeworld. The fact that Revan used to have a Sith Empire a mere 300 years earlier, and his Padawan Satele Shan having an uneasy premonition moments ago, also helped with his deduction. Plus, the Sith have a habit of always returning when you least expect them (Eg. Marka Ragnos, Freedon Nadd, Exar Kun, Darth Revan, the Sith Triumvirate) so it's not as if there wasn't a precedent for this occurrence.
Plus, Darach declared that the Sith Empire had returned with calm boldness. He accepted the worst had happened and moved on to formulating a plan.
With Poe Dameron, he didn't present any proof. No photos, no videos; he didn't even play Palpatine's message announcing his return, despite the fact that it played in *Fortnite* of all places. The opening crawl even mentions how Palpatine announced his return to the entire galaxy, yet there wasn't even a snippet of this message.
And it didn't help that Oscar Isaac looked genuinely disappointed with his line.

I love these trailers bc for once they don’t make Jedi look like complete weaklings. Got a Jedi fighting two sith and a Padawan taking out another, overwhelming him with her force powers. Actually seems like a rivalry and that yoda was right when he said the dark side wasn’t more powerful

@@historicflame972 Quite the contrary. Sith of the Old Republic Era were immensely powerful. Exhibit A: Vitiate/Valkorian. A well trained, seasoned bounty hunter that is proficient with a blaster can take down both Sith and Jedi.

They used the dark side but didn't consider themselves "Sith". Those guys shouldn't be confused with say, an Exar Kun, Marka Ragnos, Darth Malak or Darth Malgus.

Watching things like this is so bitter sweet. Its amazing what the people who worked on this have created, but all I can think about is what could have been for the the sequel trilogy.
Disney needs to take a page from this playbook!

I revisit these every so often. I feel more emotion watchin this than anything Disney will ever make regarding SW. This was all they had to do and they blew it.
Rebels, Mandalorian, TCW Season 7, Obi wan, Andor, Ahsoka, the Marvel SW comics, the High Republic, Jedi Fall Order, etc have all been excellent. Quit whining

I... kind of like the originals for everything before the Eternal Throne stuff cuz they look real in like they filmed it live action with the same camera quality as the originals of the Original Trilogy but now it looks so good you can immediately tell it's a game.

I think the fall of the republic caused degration in knowledge and tech. Same as with our history, the fall of the Roman Empire created "the Dark Ages" before the Renaissance in the 1400s

To produce the same animatics today would cost around 1/10th of what it cost Blur Studios back in 2011. The future of movie SFX was being pioneered in the gaming field back then, whilst the future of movie-quality television was being pioneered at Lucasfilm with StageCraft technology (ie: 'The Mandalorian'). Once AI is finally and properly applied to the art, it will revolutionize cinema as we know it.

what program did you use for upscale it ?
Combination, depending of what looks best. Gigapixel AI and Topaz Video AI. I also use Flowframes to interpolate the framerate, and double it. Lots of people don't like the look for the faster frames, BUT I do think that increasing the frames makes the upscale look better as far as visual quality

Long story short (spoilers)
Sith empire comes back
At one point they attack alderraan but darth malgus gets a mountain dropped on him so he needs to wear budget Vader helmet
They come up with the genius idea to attack corruscant by just driving through the front door (actually they used a ruse of war to get the rest of the jedi to go to alderraan for a peace summit but driving through the front door is funnier) the chancellor dies and a treaty is formed because the empire couldn't afford to hold corruscant, which annoys many imperials who believed they could take it, malgus included
The Sith Emperor realises he hates his own empire so he posses and old man named Valkorian, bangs his bodyguard and has three kids then raises an army to invade his old empire
Malgus fucking dies after trying to create a new sith empire that doesn't act like racism is acceptable
Valkorian's wife realises he's a piece of shit so tries to save her kids from him but turns out they'd rather not turn against the guy who can eat planets and brainwashed their sister
Revan comes back, dies again
The Emperor eats a fucking planet for shits and giggles
Valkorian invades his old empire, his two sons decimate them but in the process Arcann becomes disabled on Korriban
Arcann tries to kill his dad for treating him like shit but in the process kill his brother Thexan
Darth Marr tries to figure out why yellow people are attacking the galaxy, realises the emperor is their leader but gets zapped and dies, the player kills Valkorian but gets knocked out and Arcann has them frozen in carbonite and stored in his basement, along with darth malgus who is alive despite having been incapacitated and left on an exploding space station with no way off, but hey HK-47 survived so it's not too far fetched
Shit hits the fan and the eternal empire falls, the republic and sith go back to fighting each other
Malgus gets thawed and Emperor Vowrawn has him work for them, but he escapes to form another racismless empire
He looks for orphans to recruit at the local playground
There is a video that BioWare upload called Galactic timeline where they explain everything
Looks absolutely fantastic , the lightsaber combat is just a bit too quick though for me
