    Thank you
    Hi
    Right, this little Fiat 500, came to me straight from auction...
    Although it arrived running, this was actually a no crank no start...
    How did it came running then? - You might ask?
    Apparently, it would start by pushing it...
    Anyway... after a bit of digging, got to the culprit!...
    Follow me on this video to find out what was the problem and how to resolve it.
    Hope you enjoy the video.
    Any questions or comments put them below.
    Like always, thank you for watching!

    Great video and always a ground on the fiat!! No offense but why the hell you didn't check that first I don't know. Ripping out ultra complex electronics in favour of checking basic stuff first. Not sure what was the point?

      Because of what the owner said, I decided to remove anything that was not necessary out of the equation...
      If the owner would have said, that the alarm was to stay, then yes, I would have approached it differently...

      @@woodant1981 I agree with you, but i also see Luis’s point. You don’t if that system was working. Perhaps it had a key combo using the remote, which, the car coming from auction, you would never retrieve the code anyway

    As far as I'm concerned you did it methodically.you removed all aftermarket gizmos that could cause a situation like this.also with the customers request Clifford was removed.and yet again you were working on a car that had been elsewhere.so you are hoping in some way that they had already done the basic tests.and with it being an auction car ,no one knows the history of what's been done.in the end you got the car to start !
    I would call that a fix .

    That Clifford stuff reminds me of the weird systems Eastern European main dealers botched into brand new cars in the early noughties (car thefts were at an absolute peak and most people financed their cars using loans). My personal favourite was the thing where you had to touch a keyfob against a sort of magnetic receiver drilled into the dash - if you failed to do so within 10 secs of getting into the car, the horn would beep and the car would not start. And this thing was fitted to a Yaris with the big fat SECURITY light blinking into your face telling you you in fact had an OEM immobiliser in place.

    I did everything you have done but mine does not have a problem with the ground. The brown cable does not have continuity. So to test it, I ran a cable straight from ignition, I put it into brown cable slot, to the starter where I tied up tight to the that little plate, I put everything together as normal and I turned the key, it is starting without problems, so in my opinion is the brow cable but I heard others saying that it might be a relay because the brow cable is not straight from ignition to starter. I don’t understand if you going to check the alternator how in earth you did not check your negative system,it’s was very bad job
    Before you check at your starter motor how is your connection going on your start to open everything
    Any how you should know any time you working any part of car you have to check at end first if you missing anything at end you start to come to beginning of system
    Good luck for next work 👍

      It is now easy to put it like that... After seeing the problem and repair...
      It can be overwhelming when you face a problem with so many variables, and with no background whatsoever...
      And yes, I learned for the next time, as I do with all the repairs I do...

    The owner was lucky it was a manual otherwise it would cost a fortune to tow it there

      No one will help with so little info...
      A limp mode condition can be caused by several different things...

    Isn't there a proper procedure to diagnose a car ? I have the feeling that everybody is going in gung ho with their scantools. Like physical inspection, petrol, spark, timing, power and grounds ? I know, it is easy in hind side. Poor clifford had nothing to do with it and customer complaints should be taken with grain of salt.

    • @LMAutoRepairs
      @LMAutoRepairs  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Indeed...
      There is always a procedure...
      But sometimes you need to adapt to what you have in front of you...

      Been working on cars for 20 years…
      Using a scanner is incredibly fast and you find a ton of info out with little invasion to the rest of the car and no disassembly required. So yes, its good to go gung ho into that first. You are correct, there is a diagnostic process regardless of anything, but its a quick way to gather huge clues to the problem. If no codes, ok, then do basics, spark, fuel, compression, etc

    • @loubakker5000
      @loubakker5000 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@mikesabin8568 I agree. Maybe first thing to do is check engine ground ? Or just put a cable from engine to battery negative before scan ? Bad ground can quicly lead you onto the wrong path or give you huge wrong clues. Just saying. :-)

    Would have been a boring video if you went straight for that and no story to tell 😉😁

    poor show here, missing out the basics of troubleshooting, need to up your game, ps anyone watching dont follow this as diagnostic route to take

    • @LMAutoRepairs
      @LMAutoRepairs  ปีที่แล้ว

      Depends on the point of view...
      Already answered why I have approached it the way I did, and thought was clear on the video...
      Problem got fixed, aftermarket crap removed as per owner request... not sure what I have really missed...
      But if my mistakes helps others to avoid them, so that still a win for me and the video...

    You are not very good at fault finding as you thought it was the Clifford car alarm that's not working you ripped it out oh and have you seen how much that car alarm system was??????? Then it still didn't start hahahaha you should have used your scan tool to check for codes tut tut tut??? School boy error? Doesn't matter anyway I won't be letting you touch my car as my 6 year old girl could have done better your carp

    • @LMAutoRepairs
      @LMAutoRepairs  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      🤦‍♂️
      The alarm system was to be removed regardless...
      I thought that was clear in the video...
      If I was requested to leave the alarm in place, then I would have approached this differently...
      By removing it first, also ruled out the alar as being the problem...
      Was no shool boy error here... was done deliberately...
      What the video again without skipping and you will might understand...
      Thank you for watching!
