Model Y comes out: Model 3 is a torture chamber!

Well the Model 3 DOES have a lot of space for a sport sedan. In its class, not much else has the usable space of the Model 3.
The issue I have are people are comparing 2 different vehicle classes on “space” and that has never been done before. Porsche makes a SUV (Cayenne) and sports cars (911 Turbo)- when was the last time reviewers compared the space of the Cayenne and the 911 Turbo? Of course the Cayenne has more. Duh. It’s crazy to see direct space comparisons between the Model 3 and Y- of course the crossover SUV will have more space. The spec sheet shows 68 cubic feet for the Y vs 15 for the 3. Shocker that the Y has more leg and head room.

I agree. I’ve heard people having issues with white, but I am going on 1.5 years with white on my Model 3 without any issues. And I travel the country with a dog in the back seat most of the time!

Thanks for including a more normal height in the video for comparison. That helped a lot using a 5’10” height. Seeing how much space people still have even with your (6’5”) seat makes me really want to get the Model Y. As I am 6’2” myself I worry about people having room in the back.

Now we can see that the Y is really big inside and smaller than the X outside.
So I believe that the Y would be a hit!
When Tesla starts to reopen his factories they have to push manufacturing of the Y in advance.
Surely we here in Germany are still waiting for the Gigafactory 4 to be built. Hope they get ready to go 2021 February.

Thanks Brian, you’ve answered my remaining questions about both the Model 3 and Model Y. I’m 6”6’ and my brother is 6”7’, so it looks like we’d barely fit in the Model 3 back seat, and comfortably fit in the Y. As much as I like the lower seating position in a Model 3 and prefer the styling, I think the Model Y would be a lot more comfortable on long trips, so I think it’s going to edge out the 3 for me.
(Not that I plan to sit in the back seat very much...)

Great rear seat comparison between the Y and X. I was a little surprised with the Y having more shoulder room area. Does it slope differently? The Y's glass room steals the show from the X.
Re: front seat -- I think the X would be way better than the Y. That front windshield makes it feel spacious and the visibility is second to none. Your height would amplify that.

Any chance you can do a deep dive like this on the drivers seat between the 3 and the Y? I'm 6'4 and have my M3 seat all the way back adjusted as high as possible before the seat starts angling forward and my right knee still rests on the center console. Is the foot well space bigger on the Y especially to the right of the gas pedal?

This video is great.. including your daughter, gives your presentation a bit more dynamic. Now I think about it, it's logical. I mean.. sports that are commentated by one person is much more "dull", no matteer how good the commentator is. Adding another person, adds that little extra dynamic.. And have someone resonate emotionally what you are saying.

    • @Crazy_Worlds
      @Crazy_Worlds 4 ปีที่แล้ว

I have a 6 seater X. If you can afford the 7 seater X you won’t be disappointed. The 7 seater is more practical than the 6 seater, and it is to all intents and purposes the best luxury SUV on the road, particularly when you factor in performance, coolness, running costs (so long as the falcon doors are in warranty!), and the smug feeling you get from running a zero carbon car. But the Y has better range, great performance, is a hell of a lot cheaper, and does almost everything the X does apart from the X’s amazing doors. Nice to have First World choices like that!

Ignoring life style and driving style, Y being more practical and 3 more sporty, and that weeks later it may be a little late and your order’s in, but from everything I’ve seen and read and without sitting in or driving either car, I have an X and have driven an S, I would say that the Model Y is the better car. Tesla learnt a lot from the 3 and developed quite a bit of new technology since then, although the latest versions of the 3 have improved and it is a well rounded car.

I am the same height as you. I drove the model 3 and found it slightly to tight with the seat all the way back. (Mostly getting in and out). Would you say the model y wouldn’t have that problem?

Is this an older model3? Your friend in Norway was sitting in an new model 3 with the seats lean a little backwards.

I really wish that Tesla came out with the Y first! I have the 3 now. Still, I love my 3!

Nice. At 5'9" I find all of them comfortable, but I see why 6' people want an SUV. I think my son is going to outgrow me but we have at least 7 more years before that's an issue.
